Mary Dan Eades, M.D.

Dr. Mary Dan Eades was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas and received her undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry from the University of Arkansas, graduating magna cum laude. After completing her medical degree at the University of Arkansas, she and her husband have been in private practice devoting their clinical time exclusively to bariatric and nutritional medicine, gaining first hand experience treating thousands of people suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, elevated cholesterol and triglycerides, and obesity with their nutritional regimen.

Since 1990, Dr. Eades has also authored four books on health topics for the layman: If it Runs in Your Family: Arthritis; If it Runs in Your Family: Breast Cancer; Freeing Someone you Love From Eating Disorders; and The Doctor’s Complete Guide to Vitamins and Minerals, which has gone through eighteen printings to date. With her husband Michael, she co-authored the best selling nutritional book Protein Power, published in 1996 by Bantam Books along with their new books,  The Protein Power LifePlan, by Warner books (2000), The 30-Day Low Carb Diet Solution (Wiley 2003), The Low Carb Comfort Food Cookbook (Wiley 2003), and The Slow Burn Fitness Revolution (Broadway 2003).

Dr. Eades and her husband, Dr. Michael Eades write, co-produce, and serve as on-camera chefs of a national PBS television cooking show, Low Carb CookwoRx.  In addition, they give numerous lectures to the general public and to various lay and medical organizations on their methods of treatment. They have both been guest nutritional experts on over 150 radio and television shows including national segments for FOX and CBS.  In November of 1996 the Drs. Eades and their clinic and treatment methods were the subject of a two-part special new feature broadcast nationally on NBC.

Drs. Michael and Mary Dan Eades have three sons and three grandchildren, and currently write, lecture, and pursue research into metabolic and nutritional medicine.

Dr. Eades is currently the President of the Board of and sings with the Santa Barbara Choral Society, a 100+ member semi-professional 501(c)3 non-profit arts company, based in Santa Barbara, California.  The Choral Society was recently named resident company of the newly renovated historic Granada Theater for the Performing Arts in Santa Barbara, performing choral masterworks there, regularly throughout California, and in performance tours across Europe.

The Slow Burn Fitness Revolution (Broadway 2003) in collaboration with New York fitness guru Fred Hahn, detailed the scientific underpinnings of slow speed strength training and its benefits in cardiovascular fitness.
Staying Power: Maintaining Your Low Carb Weight Loss for Good (Wiley 2005) laid out specific plans for weight and health maintenance from a nutritional, psychological, and exercise perspective, as taught to patients by the doctors in their 20 years of clinical practice.
The Low Carb CookwoRx Cookbook, Wiley 2005, is the companion book to the Eades’ PBS television series of the same name.

In 2009, the Eades co-founded Advanced Nutrilogics, a nutritional supplement research and development company.
