Well here I am again! I think I might be finding my groove finally. Its amazing how much progress you can loose in just one week of non exercise. I feel like such a weakling!

Decided to do the band workout that Travis (my PT) gave me for when I finally had to make this trip. AUGHHHHH I struggled big time with it but I did finish it although I didn't do as many reps of everything as was down on the paper.

I think I'll finish out my week just doing pilates and yoga until my energy level increases some more. It is actually nice to be feeling somewhat sore again. I know, I'm sick! lol

Happy Movin & Shakin everyone!!!!!

Hi Everyone!

I did a 6 mile run this morning with sprints (in the snow and slush). I'll get my weight workout and a few more miles on the treadmill at the gym later this morning.

Ally- it's hard to workout when you're on vacation, good job! Were going to our daughter's in Seattle tomorrow. I plan on running stairs and some big hills near her house. She has a small gym at her apartment complex, so I might try that too. I'll have to dig out my bands and try those too. I like to do pushups when I can't get to a gym, great arm workout!

Today is an Aerobics/Kickboxing class right after work. It involves some weights as well.

This is our intructor's last regular class and the only work instruction left is the once a week Body Sculpting. A few of us have tried the Billie Blanks Boot Camp (Basics-50 minutes) and are thinking of using it on Mondays right after work to keep up the momentum as well as something else for Wednesday.

Great to see you Songberries. I saw that you had started a post on PPWOL but then saw this one started by Ally and jumped in.

thanks Songberries but this isn't really "vacation" lol.. My dad had some major surgery and my mom is disabled. So I've come 900+ miles to take care of them both for a few weeks.:) I'll need a regular vacation when I'm done here lol but I think Neal already has something planned.:D

Hi Ottawa!
I love Billy Banks and have been wondering about his Boot Camp stuff. How do you like it? Pros vs Cons and that type of thing as well. Can you give me a little DVD review? lol ;)

Thanks ~ Ally

Ally - You'll be back in the swing of things in no time! And just think, even if you struggled with the routine today, that gives you something to work toward ;).

Randy - I think that sounds like a great plan! Anything to keep everyone up and moving :D!

Songberries - Welcome! It's good to see you here :). Sounds like a great workout today!

PS - Randy and Songberries - Have you checked out the BTBF forum? There's some good info there for those who are already into the exercise habit and are looking to move beyond just the "getting started" part :).

RE:"PS - Randy and Songberries - Have you checked out the BTBF forum? There's some good info there for those who are already into the exercise habit and are looking to move beyond just the "getting started" part :)."

I sent you an email on this since it was confusing this morning having two fitness areas in two different forums. All of us reporting workouts in the past whether old boards or spin offs used M's & S's as the reporting thread. Some were advanced and others (like someone from SW Missouri:D ) reported as well but just less time or effort.

Since Ally had started this morning with bands (a heavier workout) it looked like the place to report as well as there being no startup thread in Move it or Lose it.

Randy - I haven't checked my mail yet :p. Anyway, in all seriousness, post wherever you're comfortable. As long as we hear from everyone, we're happy :D! I was hoping my post wasn't taken the wrong way - and I sincerely hope it wasn't :( . I just thought the info there would be something you'd enjoy :).

If I remember correctly, the original purpose of the two different forums was to separate out those who are totally unfamiliar with exercise from those who are familiar with it. The reasoning being that someone who is (for example) 100 pounds overweight and is challenged just getting up off the sofa is going to have a different dilemma on their hands than someone who exercises already but is wondering about increasing LBM and the best way to do it. It was felt that those not even moving yet would feel more "comfortable" posting separately from those who are doing longer/more intense workouts and are looking to optimize their workouts rather than just starting to move. See what I mean?

But anyway, the bottom line is, as long as you're moving it, that is what counts, wherever you "check-in" and report.

Make sense?

Thanks for the pointer on board functions/locations Lita.

Ally,
The Billie Blanks DVD Videos were on sale here along with the bands for 24.95 and then 18.99. I bought a set and then was looking for a second set of bands which are $15.00 US so I bought a second package with bands and Videos.

The Boot Camps Basic is a killer so the Internmediate and Advanced have not been opened. ;-) THe second set is still in the trunk of my car.

To start I did the first 30 minutes as a workout and after three of those did the last 30 (only 52 minutes on workout so there is some overlap).
After that I did the workout twice as a complete workout mainly with the pushes since he has done it in a way where he talks directly to you.

One other advantage to the video to keep you going is the woman on his right in whom I have developed a virtual relationship with.:D
She works so hard and sweats so profusely that I fell in love at first sight:rolleyes: . I am amazed at how her ribs stick out as she does crunches and lunges with the bands.

Back to the serious side ... you actually do feel like part of the class and it is a great, but intense workout.
If any one has bands already and wants a the 3 unopened video DVDs I would send it them for US$10.00 including shipping. I have never seen the Hawk paid much more than the Costco price so they might be more expensive in the US.

Randy, I'm not nearly up to your speed (and I hate calesthenics anyway) but you and Lynn don't intimidate me at all. I admire your dedication.

I'm going to post here so that I don't forget to exercise. Right now, I'm working up to a slow mile, four or five times a week, and eagerly waiting for bicycle weather.

Ally, you just reminded me that I got bands for Christmas and I haven't taken the time to try them out. :o Thanks!

Ally- I hope your dad is doing better.

Shadow- thanks for the advice, I'll have to hunt for that thread when I get back.

I ran to and from the gym this morning for my muscle toning class. It was a great class. Tomorrow I'm running up a super big hill near my daughters and then I'm going to tackle stairs.

All this talk about the Billie Blanks videos is making me want to check them out, too.

Hi-Shadow WP! It's nice to put a face to a name! (I'll get mine up there sooner or later).

I did cardio last night (half rowing/half jogging) and upper body. My achilles is getting better too. Good thing, b/c spring is coming! Maybe this spring/summer, I can be back to jogging outside. This is my goal and I'm stickin' to it! :)

Lisa ~ I just love him and I love kickboxing. It sorta makes me feel so empowered to be able to kick butt if someone wants to try and mess with me. lol I know thats silly but thats me. I got turned onto kickboxing when I took an exercise/self defense class from a friend who has a black belt in Karate. We moved and then Billy Blanks/banks?.... came out with his stuff which is why I decided to try him out. Then I remember thinking I wished the actual exercise tape was longer than 20 min. But let me tell ya in that 20 min you will sweat buckets! So I was glad to hear good things about his bootcamp series.
So.... if you like the kickboxing thing I would hazzard a guess that you would like Billy ALOT!

You guys have convinced me! I'm going to get myself a tape to try.

I used to belong to a Tae Kwon Do school (REALLY miss it) & I have a 2nd degree black belt. I still do my kicking practice, but alone on my own it's hard to get pumped & motivated. I'm unable to go to any sort of class right now so Billy Blanks may be just the thing.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Lisa, check him out at the library... he's got SEVERAL workouts... from basic to very advanced; from bands to no bands, and it seems like everything in between...

Randy (maybe you've met him here?) has become a "hard body" over the last several months, and some of the workouts still kick his butt!

Not only are the workouts great, but I love Billy's ATTITUDE!!!

LisaV - I am so happy you made your way here :D!!!! And yes, please do get your picture up so we can see you too :)! I am so happy that injury is finally healing - you'll soon be ready to kick some serious butt! Glad I'm the WP and (hopefully) safe from attack :p!

Songberries - What energy you have ! Great job!

Claudette - Yeah for you on the consistent exercise!

Sherry

Too funny SHerry! I wish I was a "hard body" but I still have some AB flab;) and may always have a bit. My arms and legs are now close to solid but visceral fat just seems to be the hardest to get rid of. I was holding a heavy pallette
The Billy Blanks workouts provide an almost constant burn for over half the workout which is why it took me a few workouts before doing the whole session.

So there, Randy, your fan club isn't gonna surrender :p ;)!

Thanks guys. What I really need is a magic pill or a special training machine that takes off that last inch fast. You read about them all the time.

This effort thing is a killer.:D

Shadow
