I'm off to Walt Disney World in a few days and I found a web site that has samples of the menus. We have already made our reservations for all the restaurants that we are going to. I've been able to find things to eat in most of them. This one has me a bit perplexed. I'm new to PP since Aug.1 and would like to make the best choices possible when I travel.

Please take a look at this and make suggestions. My meal plan allow me to choose an apetizer, main course and I'll give my dessert to my kids.

A couple interesting options, from my side of the computer screen

the big protein options
Scallion Fragrant Shrimp + Canton Pepper beef (minus noodles)
Savory Beef Shank + Pork Loin in XO sauce
Scallion Fragrant Shrimp + Beijing Duck (if someone is willing to share, it's a two person entree)

Lighter fare
Cucumber Salad + Steamed Fish Fillet

Creative combinations
Beef shank + either vegetarian entree

I think, with a little planning, you do have several decent options there. I did a little research, too:

The chinesefood.about.com (http://chinesefood.about.com) site describes XO sauce as "combination of dried shrimp, dried scallops, garlic, and other seasonings" - and a couple recipes I've found don't sound too bad as far as the carb count, but it does have cornstarch, if that makes a difference for you. I'd count a couple carbs if you pick any of those options

I also found a recipe here (http://www.recipecottage.com/asian/sha-cha-jiang.html) for Sha Cha sauce if you're interested to see what may go into it. Might make the beef skewers (which are generally, in my experience, pretty tasty) an option too.

Also, if they have some sort of fruit cup/salad for the dessert option, that would be really nice to finish off a spicy meal. Melons and berries, anyone? *smile*

Thanks so much!! I love Asian food and we've heard this is a pretty good place.

Lou, I agree with Miralin--there are a LOT of good choices on this menu.
Spring rolls are made with rice paper, so they would work as an appetizer, along with the skewers, and the fragrant shrimp.

Entrees--any of the seafood or veggie entrees are fine

Desserts--again, Miralin beat me to it...have some melon or fresh citrus if they have it. Heck, it's Epcot...they'll have fresh citrus. ;)

Enjoy...it sounds wonderful!

Gaelen, who just realized that they've extended restaurant week in NYC and has to start planning a cool lunch spot for next Monday....;)

Lou: you are smart to plan ahead. This world wide web thing is pretty helpful that way! I've used it a few times to look up the menu for local restaurants.

Lately, I've been letting the wait person up front know that I don't really want any bread or grains. They can often suggest something that isn't exactly on the menu. They've all been very nice about it. It's best to ask them to not bring out any rice or noodles on your plate. If the sauce seems to have sugar or starch, you can just scrape a little of it off.

Have fun!
