"Don´t allow anybody and anything and above all don´t allow your thoughts to lead you away from the present".

The story of two monks:

Two monks - one of them old and the other one very young - were returning to their monastery in Japan through a muddy forest way. They saw a beautiful woman, standing helplessly on a muddy bank of a stormily flowing river. When the old monk saw that she could not cross the river by herself, he lifted her on his strong arms to take her across the river. She smiled at him and was clinging to his neck till he set her down carefully on the other bank. She thanked, him bowed and monks continued in their way not saying anything to each other. When they were approaching monastery´s gateways, the young monk couldn´t control his curiosity anymore and asked: "How could you carry theat beautiful woman? Monk shouldn´t do things like this." The old man looked at his fellow and answered: "I let her stand there but you´re still carrying her?"

I like this yoga based story of the two monks. One of them did what needed to be done at the time, did it and went on his way. The other young monk thought about it and "still carried the beautiful young women" and carried the thoughts forward. One took an action and one only thought about it.

Where do you stand? Do you take actions in your life, like on this program and getting healthy, or do wish you took actions watching others?

Today is an action day, lets not be bystanders to life, lets start living it!

Have a great day!

Not going to be a bystander today. I am off for a walk. I think I need it to clear my head and start my busy day off.

Thanks Billie

Wow, Billie, great story and thoughts! I tend to be a thinker - until I get fed up and finally take action. Although there are a few times I just grab the bull by the horn and delve right in ;).

You know, even if it takes a year or two (or longer) to get back to where you should be . . . what difference is there in that? You'll be that much older whether you chose to eat right and exercise, or not.

A year from today . . . will you wish you had made better choices? Will you be living with regrets or good health?

That's what I have to consider, especially now that I'm trying to convince my hubby to eat better. He seems to be leaning toward acknowledging the problem areas in his life regarding grains/starches, now that he has a blood monitor to use every second day.

Yesterday, his fasting reading and the one before lunch were the same. He had a bagel for breakfast. He said it was inadequate. That is good.

His before the evening meal one was lower. He had smoked salmon for lunch (mainly because the cafeteria was closed, and that's all he had in his desk drawer).

He is going to experiment and snack on protein foods in the evenings. There is nothing I can say to alter his opinions; I can only set an example and encourage, but this was a huge step, as far as I was concerned.
