View Full Version : I'm Baaack!
Hi, all! Wow it seems like ages since I saw all of your familiar faces. :o For those of you who have joined in since I was a member of the old forum, I used to be an (almost) daily poster. I was PP'ing along until November 2005, then my father got sick, and died within 2 weeks. I was knocked for a loop and fell hard off the PP wagon. Needless to say, I have gained all the weight back that I fought so hard to lose, even stopped my regular exercise. I'm now trying to start over, and it ain't easy! It's time for some accountability, so here I am!
A little bit about me: I'm retired from the federal government (early out-best decision I ever made!), but I am very active in my church. I sing-at Sunday services, weddings, funerals, in the shower, etc. I'm in my mid 50's but don't feel that old, going through menopause (too much information, guys?). I love to travel, and as the veterans know, I love horse racing and casinos. My computer is old and I have very slow dial-up, so sometimes I may go a few days before I'm able to get online.
I love the new site! You did good.:) Anyway, I'm eager to get at it.

Kathy :D. It's great to see you again. I wondered how you were doing. I hope your dial-up connection will co-operate, and we'll hear lots more from you :).

KATHY!!!! Well make my day will you! Great to see you!
I emailed you after regarding your father's death, which I am so sorry, and you didn't answer so I was afraid you had lost us! This is just great, so glad to see your fiery self appear! Welcome home!
Thanks, ya'll! It feels good to be home. :)

WHOO-HOOOOO, look who's home!!! **dOiN' a HaPpY dAnCe!!!**
Just SUNDAY evening, I thought of you, Kath!!! We were watching National Professional Bull Riding, and it was in Mexico for the first time. They showed a pick-up horse in the arena, and for some reason, maybe the SHEEN of the horse, made me think of US horse racing, and I came to... YOU!!!
AND, yesterday, Mr. Youngest was telling me about a 2 year old that he and his brother have taught to hit them in the head, and they fall backwards, with TONS of GIGGLES... as he was telling it, instead of "bam!", he said, "Kuh-POW!!!", and I thought... "That sounds familiar!!!" :D
I'm sorry it's been so hard on you, with the loss of your precious Dad, and the food... sigh...
WE'RE HERE... and DELIGHTED to have you home, my friend!!
Sherry
By the way, Janet, I was close to your neck of the woods in June. I took a trip to Ireland with another church choir tour for 10 days. It was absolutely beautiful there. We landed at Shannon and made a southern horseshoe then ended up in Dublin. The weather was perfect for the first half of the trip when we visited the more scenic sites. I saw the Cliffs of Moher and the Dingle Peninsula among other places during the first few days. They were just breathtaking! We saw mountains, castles, churches and more sheep than I could ever count. The only thing that marred my trip was 2 days before we left for home. I stepped off of our tour bus and fell flat on my face on the wet pavement, and chipped a bone in my right middle finger. I went to the doctor the day after I arrived home and wore a splint for a week. I was going around and giving people obscene gestures all week until an orthopedist told me to stop wearing the splint. :)

SHERREEEE!!! Hi, lady! We must have been posting at the same time. I'm happy to be back, and have missed you all so much. :) It's been hard, but each day is better. My brothers and I have been doing all the stuff that goes with a death, going through his belongings, estate sale, etc. We finally were able to sell his house in July, so we've had a little bit of closure.
I hope your health is good these days. I haven't been reading all the back posts, although I've checked things out from time to time. It's good to see your smiling face! :)

Thanks, kathy!
I AM doing better, thanks to two surgeries this summer, within 5 weeks of each other... one to scrub out 27 years of YUCK from my uterus, thus leaving me with FOUR weeks of "freedom" each month, instead of three weeks of being a "B"! Then, 3 weeks ago, I had my gallbladder taken out... so! The only thing left for my health is to LOSE myself, LOL! No, wait... I mean lose the weight! :D
I sooo look forward to having you home... and, you're sure welcome to join the "One Day" threads in the Break Room/Community Conversations forum! :)

Kathy, I've never actually been to Ireland. It's something I've always wanted to do, because people say that it's very beautiful, but it just hasn't happened yet. My husband actually suggested yesterday that we might go there for a few days to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary next year - it's in August, so a lot of Europe is just too hot at that season.

It's funny you should say that, Sherri -
I was just reading somewhere that one personal trainer will not let his clients say they want to lose weight . . . because then he'll get out the saw and ask which limb they want him to remove.
He want them to be aware that you could lose "x" amount of weight by removing a body part . . . but it takes work to lose the excess fat.
Just a bit of a smile for your day.

Indeed, cm! :) He could take a bit off my tummy and bottom... :D

I'd go for the tummy. Seems like my weight loss is from the top - down, with all the fat repositioning itself at the tummy level.

Me too Cm!!
I have people say (ok just my sister) that she can notice it in my face already. Good to hear but the scale has not moved very much and its not the face I need to tone if ya know what I mean.
However last time I lost some weight it worked from the top down so, if my face has seen some changes I guess the next to go is the bra size. Eventually it will work itself down to the tummy. Sheeesh!! if only it would work from the bottom up!

Kapow, (Kathy),
Welcome back, you've been missed.
I am sorry to hear about your Dad.
For the record, I, too, have gained some of my weight back, but am back to stay and loose.
Hope to see more of you!
Hugs,
Claudette
Sorry to be so long in replying. My X!#? computer, you know. I was wondering where you were, Shadow, when I saw something on a prior post about your vacation. Hope it was relaxing. Hi, Claudette, and everyone else who welcomed me back. Thanks! It's good to be home! :)

Kathy - You still have that same problematic computer ???? Haven't you won enough at the races to get a new one ;)? As for a relaxing vacation - well, physically I was quite a bit more active than I am during the work week. But the peace of mind from getting my list of to-do things done was well worth it!
