We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have."
--Frederick Koenig

Do you forget to be happy? No I am serious do you ever think, "Oh poor me, I am having trouble losing or things are just not going right? Sure we all do on occasion.

Sometimes I think we forget that we have so darn much going for us. Take for example...wouldn't this program be a little more difficult today watching the news about low carbing, without a great support group and without solid scientific resources that guided the foundation of this program?

Wouldn't this be a little more difficult for those who like the low carb products....about 5 years ago lets say when NOTHING existed?

Wouldn't it be a little more difficult without oh lets pick on Shadow not getting after us on exercise?

It is sometimes so much easier to see the dark side of things than the positive end, recognizing and appreciating the positives that we do have, losing that control freakiness (and I admit to that on many occasions :jawDrop: ) and just viewing life with all that we have, all the support we have in place, all the references and information at our finger tips. Sure does seem to make the weight loss trip a bit easier.

I appreciate you all! Thanks for making it a great day!

Say, now :p! Actually, I was just thinking this morning how much I've let the whip rest lately - so watch out everyone, I'm back from vacation and ready to get to it again ! Hmmm - I haven't really cracked the whip on this board at all so I think a lot of our new members might be in for a suprise when I get going !

Seriously, great thoughts for the day, Billie! I know I am as guilty as the next person to get so caught up in the "poor me" syndrome that I fail to think of all the blessings I have in my life. Luckily, I don't stay down too long before I smack myself upside the head and work on correcting my thinking. But unfortunately, I know quite a few people who seriously suffer the "glass half empty" syndrome !

And speaking of being thankful and appreciating the good things in life - I must add this board and all of you to my list of the many things that enrich and brighten my life !

Only if you're not exercising regularly. :D

Thanks, Billie, for that (again) timely quote. I do get into spots where I have to climb out of a funk because life rarely steers in the direction I'm planning to take. Sometimes it's fun, like riding a skateboard, other times it's like digging under a brick wall. I'm still trying to read my boss, and I need to just go with the flow. I like life to be predictable, and sometimes it just... isn't!

Good food for thought Billie. I do once in a while have a pity party but then I remember how blessed I am, even with the little things each day.
