Hi Everyone, Today I put 1/8 of a banana in my morning shake. If my calculations are correct it is only 3.5 carbs, but my goodness I had the worst time counteracting my craving for starch.  I ended up making low carb Muffins and low carb cookies. I didn't overdo it though, I only had one of each and they were only about a couple carbs a piece, and I put the rest in the freezer, but the banana is the only thing I did different and I haven't had any cravings before. Isn't it amazing, how little it takes of the offending foods to trigger a potential carb binge. I didn't give in though which is a good thing I think:cool: . If this had been earlier before I was committed to low carb I would have taken the craving and ran with it, go figure. Judy

I've been working through the low carb journey in much the same way . . . experimenting (even unintentially) to find out what foods make me want more of the same or of a similar nature.

For a while, I thought it was flax muffins & bread (type) that made me want more - so that I ate them in vast quantities. Now, I seem to have overcome that, so I would have to figure out what triggered the response. Obviously, I haven't had that particular thing in a while, or my body responses have changed.

However, like you, if I make the muffins or cookies, I freeze them.

I find I almost have to, that way I have to get them out of the freezer and unthaw them before consuming them, it slows me down enough to ask myself if I really want them. I know what you mean though you have to figure out what you did differently to trigger the response. Judy

Sometimes I have to notice a trend. If I notice I'm using sweeteners in an escalating pattern or for comfort, for instance, I have to back off. Low-carb tortillas aren't usually a problem, but if I use them too many days in a row I may notice that I'm branching off into something else that's borderline, like peanut butter. I'm not sure if it's physical or mental, but I have to be watchful. I think it's referred to as "carb creep". The solution is to go back to measuring and counting, which I hate, or to established safe meals. :p

I have to admit I'm not very good at measuring and counting. I have to mentally give myself a nudge because I don't want to go over 35 carbs in a day. I'm thinking after awhile I will be better at estimating so I won't have to crunch numbers as much. Judy
