I have begun taking Byetta for my insulin resistance. and I want to say thatI have been very very happy. I havent had many side effects and my BG numbers ahve been fantastic. And I have finally shown ketones! I have eaten almost no carbs and never ahve I turned a ketostix even beige. Now I'm getting moderate ketones and in 1 week I have dropped 5#( water weight from the Actos I was on ) I'm not eating more carbs, in fact I'm eating very few about 20g/day or less and things are going well for me so far. Byetta is a new drug and as such I kinda feel like a guinea pig but I was not getting anywhere with diet exercise and metformin & actos. I've dropped tha actos now.

sltstr, I'm glad Exenatide a.k.a. Byetta (http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/InfoSheets/patient/exenatidePIS.htm) is working for you--you are a diagnosed type 2 diabetic, then?

Just for the record, it doesn't now nor has it ever mattered (for people who are eating according to Protein Power recommendations) whether they show ketones in their urine or can turn a ketostick pink or even use ketostix. Ketone release in urine is something *Atkins* looks for; it's not a necessary measurement for Protein Power. PP recommends healthy ranges for actual bloodwork, including hematology and chemistry panels (lipid profiles.)

Again, glad you've found something that is working for you.
