Hello to the Protein Power Sanga!
Is it possible to develop a magnesium resistance?
For the first few months after supplementing with magnesium citrate I was in bathroom heaven but now, about 6 months later, I am producing nothing but dense and difficult pellets despite supplementing 600 -1000mg of magnesium cit. daily. I had good results iinitially from only 400mg.
I have also been increasing dha intake to about 1 gram/daily, sometimes more.
My diet has not changed significantly other than eating more apples (never more than 1/ daily) that are now plentiful and tasty.
Can anyone relate?
Jeff

Jeff...I wouldn't call it 'magnesium resistance' but you can definitely overdose on magnesium, and it definitely has to be in balance with the other minerals you're taking in for it to be maximally effective.

As to the other issue, since you're vegetarian, add some extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil to your diet--or butter if you're not vegan. Nut oils, nut butters and shredded coconut will also help.

Jeff as Gaelen says there are other ways of alleviating constipation. I do know that some people find chelated magnesium useful (or a problem!) in higher doses - never had any effect on me (but it certainly gets rid of muscle cramps) - but most people find they adjust, so the laxative effect may be lost

If you want to use magnesium solely to help in this area (rather than all the health giving benefits the Eades list in PPLP) you might try one of the less well absorbed sources. It was this poor absorption which gave old fashioned remedies like Milk of Magnesia its .. ummm ... power! ;)
