Hi all.
I am new here.I am a 41yrs old Filipno male. I just finished reading the proteinpower book and I am not quite sure if those people with gout like me can use this high protein diet? I've talked to 2 doctors in the past regarding my health condition and both advised me to limit my intake of foods with high purine content(all meats including seafoods and some vegetables and fruits like avocados).
My first gout attack was 5 years ago. I took allopurinol for 6 months then stopped. One year after my first attack, my foot swell again. Now it became a regular.
I use to have gout attacks now once/twice a year and I would really like to know if I can still reverse this condition?
Can someone please tell me what to do ifever I go on with high protein diet? Books to read and tips to do?
Thanks..

My husband is a gout sufferer and he just had another attack. I noticed he just did not drink enough water. Water is the key for gout sufferers

Check out his link to Loren Cordain's very informative article on Gout and it's causes. Most conventional advice is nonsense. I have suffered Gout in the past but in the 6 or so years I have been lowcarbing I have only had about 5 bouts and they are becomming less frequent.

Water is the key for gout sufferers

The key, eh... if only it were that simple. I tried drinking several pints of water a day - no help at all.

Some people find relief using natural remedies. The most common ones, that I'm aware of, are:

1. cherry extract - the concentrated extracts, usually in a capsule form, do not contain many/any carbs

2. celery seed extract - also (typically) sold as an encapsulated supplement

I hope you find relief very soon.
