Mornin'!

Today, I went to the gym and did 60 min on the elliptical.

Who's next?

Liz - You sure do love that elliptical, don't you :p? Is there nothing else you can do for variety, though? Don't want you to burn out on your favorite piece of equipment ;).

15 minutes down the hill in the rain this morning.

20 minutes planned back up the hill home.

And I'm reading Slow Burn and trying to decide if I can squeeze in half an hour somewhere before my trip on Thursday night. (I think I can ...... !)

Miralin - How exciting :D! Let us know how SB goes for you if you get a chance to try it :). Is this a fun trip that's coming up?

Yes, fun trip! I'm going to go camping (ha, in cabins with showers!) with some friends I've known for a while and a few I've never met in person.

And I've pretty well read SB -- looking forward to trying it. But I ain't givin' up my walks! :-) I'm seriously considering taking Thursday as a prep day, since my flight is late anyway. And then sleeping in, taking my walk, and getting stuff done.

Miralin - Now that's my idea of camping :p! I hope you have a wonderful time - but we will miss you :(!

I hope you like SB as much as I enjoy weights :). I don't blame you for keeping the walks, though. This will just add more variety and give you better results. I think you deserve Thursday as a prep day - if I were you, I'd go for it :D!

Hi, today was: body flex aerobic/toning tape, upper body weights, abd/obl core workout.
Stairs: up to three flights at work.

I sure do! :D

Actually, I have been starting to spread my wings a little bit...I ended up doing 10 minutes on the stairmaster (the one I used was like a moving escalator with about 4 steps). Boy was that a killer! The workout summary display said that I did 35 floors. I really don't think I did that many...I'm not sure how many steps they count as one floor. I also did a Pilates class on Sunday (still feeling the effects of that in my abs). Yesterday, I took an Intro to Step class which was a good workout. And today, I took a Cardio Resistance Training class in which cardio and resistance are alternated. We ended up doing about 10 flights of stairs up & down for part of the cardio. For resistance, we worked the triceps with a 6 lb medicine ball, biceps with hand weights, thighs, quads, and gluts with tubing and a Bosu, abs with a 6 lb medicine ball. Argh! I felt it in my abs when I did my first "Pilates" sit up. Who knows how many sit ups we ended up doing...it was a lot, whatever it was. We then did 30 push ups - and yes, I had to do the wimpy push up on my knees. I'm sure I'll be feeling the effects of all of this tomorrow.

So, I'm starting to incorporate more variety in my workouts. I appreciate your concern because I definitely don't want to get burnt out on the elliptical!

Hey Guys!

It is about exactly one year after I quit smoking and bought myself a road bike and started mountain biking with my old bike. I have since become a bike addict and collector. I bought a new mountain bike in December. I even bought a unicycle and joined a unicycling club--not really so much for exercise, it's just goofy fun :) I went [kicking and screaming] to spin class [we set our own bikes up on trainers--a torture device used to keep your bike in place and vary resistance] all winter and I also did some mountain biking with studded tires on weekends.

So my problem now is not so much finding the time to exercise, but forcing myself to actually go to work instead of trying to get outside and play! Maybe we can start a forum for encouraging good *work* habits, for those of us who need extra encouragement to get to the office?

Ok, the sun is up so I am going to go for a 2 hour run [both my bikes are in the shop].

Liz - What wonderful variety :D!!! I am very proud of you :)!

Sam - Hi! Have you checked out the Born To Be Fit forum? That is where the experienced exercisers are posting. There is a lot of good information there, too. It's great to see you back on the board :). Hopefully you won't spend all your time biking (and working) and will get to visit us often!

Thanks Shadow!

I'm definitely taking tomorrow to prep for the weekend. I'm wiped out already, and I haven't done anything yet. *sigh*

I used to do weights back, several years ago, and I LOVED lifting. Unfortunately, my autoimmune misfire (hashimoto's disease), coupled with a nasty bout of depression that I've only just started treating in the past year, has really punched my energy levels down. When I get back from my camping trip my focus is getting my body into better shape, still. I'm way better than I was the first time I started on Protein Power, and not as good as I'll be when I am more diligent about eating right ALL the time and sticking to it.

Miralin - What a great, positive attitude :D! Ah - if loved lifting in the past, then I am sure you're gonna love it this go round too :)!
