Well, I fell off the PP wagon wagon five years ago during graduate school and a year and half in Guanzhou, China. Although I lost 40 pounds and really meant to keep it off, I gained it back plus 50 more!! Of course, looking back, I really denied myself nothing because I tend to rock and roll all night and bacchanal every day. So here I am.
The kicker and the biggest reason I am back (although there are a hundred reasons) is that I was married last year to the a really terrific man and we want to have a baby. I don't want to start pregnancy at 256 pounds because I have no doubt my weight will balloon to over the 300 hundred mark. I went in for a physical last week, and while the good Doc didn't say much about the weight, he did talk to me about my chronic gastritis and heartburn. He said that my current condition would make my pregnancy extremely uncomfortable and possibly lead to espohagus cancer. While he stressed the remote possiblity of such a senario, it was enough to get me seriously thinking. I have never felt so good heartburn wise as when I was following PP. Incidentally, I have never looked so good either.
So I know the plan works. My kitchen is purged, my DH is on board. We have the Fran McCollough and the Dana Capenter cookbooks and an order of low-sugar jerky arrived today. We are going to get fit and get pregnant! I can't help myself...I am very excited at the prospect!
