Hi everyone:

I need your help.

At the end of July 07. My husband and I will be taking a much needed vacation with our best friends.

I'm a newbie and have already lost 5lbs. Yeah.

Here's my problem eating the PP plan on this vacation. It a combo trip. Meaning....

We will be travel in a van to the Black Hills in S. Dakota for several days.

When we reach there we will be staying in a motel and then riding our Harley's throughout the Black Hills.

Then journey to Sturgis Motorcylce Rally for a week's stay at The Buffalo Chip Camground. We will be staying in a large rented trailer. Days will be journeys on the bike and evenings at the camground in the trailer and attending some great concerts. Then the van ride back home to Jersey. Whew that sounds tiring just writing that.

Anyway as you can see I will be expericing ever food challenge. Remember now I am a newbie. On the road in the van will be stops in resturants...on the bike resturants....... at the campround cooking in the trailer and on a grill. Will be taking staples in the van and then purchase cold items at grocery store near campground. This trip will be party city....

I think if I can have some great suggests for maintaining PP. I won't blow the progress I should have made in the next five weeks and have a guilt free fun time.

Please help the Jersey Girl

don't eat any flour products. no buns, potatoes, fries, cereal. Eat clean even if that means more carbs than usual (from something like fruit).
Meat, eggs, veggies, nuts, seeds & fruit.

Like the Reverend Horton Heat wrote

Eat steak, eat steak it's a mighty good meal.
some veggies on the grill and you're good to go.

Restaurants. dodge stuff with sauces you don't know. Keep it simple and ask for no bun or atkins version. You can eat nearly anywhere but Chinese (can be done, but it requires a lot more prep than anything else IMHO).

Good luck.

Grocery stores have quick eats like tuna or chicken in foil packages, lunchmeat, cheese, fresh fruits and veggies. You can order burgers without a bun. Hardy's wraps them in romaine lettuce for you. Pizza topping is okay if you throw away the crust.

I always carry almonds. Mix them with walnuts and add a (very) few raisins and you've got a trail mix that everyone will share with you. I like dried cranberries better.

Meat on the grill is a no-brainer, and you can grill many veggies if you bring a grill basket or screen.

Jersey Girl, I agree with what's been said.
I'm guessing with the events and crowd you describe (btw, how cool!) you'll run into a fair share of BBQ (perfectly on plan--just skip the potatoes, choose coleslaw as a side, lean heavy on the BBQ'd meat and have fruit for dessert like watermelon).

Restaurants are a LOT easier than most people worry about them being. In fact, I travel 5-8 days a month, eating out nearly the whole time. Salads with grilled chicken, salmon or shrimp are a standard menu item, so they're my first choice (with dressing on the side.) Grilled seafood when I can get it. Grilled or roasted any-other-protein when I can only get that. I don't even worry too much about sauces and dressings...I can scrape off, eat around or order them on the side if necessary.

You can even make it in a Chinese restaurant--order shrimp and broccoli, look for the 'low fat' options which are generally without sauce and/or steamed, and if all else fails, order the crispy duck, sauce on the side, or the spareribs appetizers as a meal.

I haven't been to Stugis, but I have been to Daytona Bike Week. Relax, you'll do just fine, and have a blast.

Fast food - stay away from anything breaded and deep fried. Depending on your mood look for salad with grilled chicken, grilled chicken sandwiches (eat as little bun as possible) or burgers (again eat the meat not the bun)

Restaurants - easy, lots of choices

In the saddle bag - nuts, beef jerky

At biker bars - sausages (eat around the bun), burgers, hot sandwiches (avoid the bun), chili (don't eat all the beans)

Camping - grill

When the bike is parked - go for lite beer, or liquor mixed with soda.

Ride safe and have fun.
