Ok. I started PP on Tuesday of last week and have managed to gain weight. From yesterday to today, I gained 2.6 pounds. Now prior to last Tuesday I was doing Kimkins. I had gained about 4 pounds but assumed it was water weight. I don't know what to do. Here is my food diary from yesterday. Maybe I am eating too much....I don't feel like I am, I mean I was hungry on Kimkins, and I'm not on PPLP...

Yesterday I had 24 g ECC, 128 g of Protein, and 153 g of Fat - which is a total of 1985 calories. I walked for 45 minutes which burned about 250 calories. I drank 6 16 oz glasses of pure water, and 2 16 oz glasses of iced tea sweetened with splenda (included in the carb count above) My sodium was a little high at 3300 mg but believe me it's been much higher.

I love this way of eating, and honestly since starting low carb again on 5/21 with Kimkins, my blood glucose has dropped into normal ranges and my blood pressure is normal. (118/77). So, my health is improving.

I just started on the supplements today, magnesium, vitamin e, vitamin c, and ALA. I was already taking a multivitamin.

I just feel like with my weight climbing that I am going backwards. I don't want to go back to feeling hungry all the time. Sorry to vent, but I'm just so frustrated.

Thanks for listening.....

Hi Wendy it would be helpful to see your daily menu. Some people say that splenda or alot of dairy stalls their weight loss.
http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm
This website will help to determine how many calories you should eat in a day, I plugged in the weight I want to be instead of my current weight, but the choice is yours. Also I would set the activity level to low so that you will know the base calories. I mention this because it may be possible that you are eating too many calories to kick start your weight loss.
Are you exercising? Even if you just walk at a good pace it will help jump start your metabolism.
These are just my suggestions...
I hope this helps...Keep us updated!!!

It is likely that you got dehydrated &/or lost muscle mass on Kimkins & your body is just equilibrating - so hang in there!

Splenda & 3300 mg of sodium would cause me to hold on to 2-5 lbs of water, so that could be it. But it is just water, not fat, so don't be too worried about it.

So.... Kimkins is lowfat too. did you go from something like 50 g of fat a day, to 153 g?

That would stop my fat loss. The Eades say that calories do matter, after a point, and that amount would be more than I can burn.

Maybe something between all or nothing on the fat grams.

I hear you on the hunger. I'm with Scarlett! As G** is my witness, I say, holding a turnip, or was it a rutabaga, I'll never be hungry again.

Thank you all for your responses. I'm going to cut out the Splenda for now and cut back on the calories as well.

Actually laughingw I was eating around around 80 g of protein and 70 grams of fat along with 20 g of carbs - which was actually too much. That diet recommends 20 g of carbs, 25-30 g of fat, and about 60 grams of protien (based on the FDA recommendation, which is funny now that I think about it because, that recommendation is based on a 2000 calorie diet)
I am a tall, large framed person and my Basal Metabolic Rate according to most calculators on the net is around 1800 calories. So it's still a puzzle.
I do believe it is water weight and not fat. I think you're probably right about the dehydration and muscle loss Deirdra.

I'm just going to plug along. Everything else is too good (blood pressure and blood glucose) on this diet. So, even if I don't loose weight, at least my doctor can't blame it on my weight any more ;)

Thanks again. I really appreciate the support.

So, here's my recommendation:
Make sure you get your protein. Every day. Every meal.
Make sure you control carbs. Every day. Every meal.
If you hold water, watch sodium.
Take your supplements.
Give it a chance to work.
