Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens. by Carl Jung

I have a friend who is an eternal dreamer. She came over the other day, we both have a wedding to go to in May, and she was showing me some clothes in a catalog for the wedding. She started out by saying (oh the women will relate to this), "If I was only tan and thin..." and she would laugh a nervous laugh and go on and say the samething. She is in that constant dream mode of a better life or better body or better health, whatever you wish to put in there, but NEVER in the reality of making the differences to get there. Her vision is clouded I believe very simply because she is lazy. It is not that she has been wounded in her life and it is painful, it is just plain doing it kind of thing.

When I look into my heart, my gut, my spirit, I sometimes get an ugly shock, I think most of us do that, but at least we are taking a look at things we can improve on in our lives and hopefully then taking an action step. Life is just hard going somedays, but living it in a real world is incredible important, at least to most of us. We are not perfect creatures, oh so far from it, but looking deep can at least guide us on the direction we might want to travel.

Hope you have a Tuesday Terrific Day!

Billie, how many of us can see ourselves as we are, but can't leave the familiarity of our routine and begin "swimming to the other shore"? In the 12-step programs they talk about "hitting bottom" before you actually want to change. Sometimes you can bring up the bottom with information, mentoring, circumstances, but most often we would rather deal with what we know, even if it's frustrating, than take the step into the unknown. I always have to reach a state of desperation before I move.

The beauty of this board (and the others before it) is that you get a glimpse into the future. You see others working the program and realize it can be done. You're not in a vacuum. I trust the real people here before I trust the media images and the diet club commercials, that's for sure.

p.s. I don't say "tan and thin" I say "tall and thin"! :D

She's a dreamer. She never wakes up, she just opens her eyes.
Always living for the "IF" and not the NOW.
My reality check was a photo of me that I look at often enough to keep me going to the gym daily and then keeps me planning my food ahead. This week is rough for me. Also like the twelve step program, I know I can get support here. There are great ideas here.
