I find it very irritating and frustrating that measurements for non-liquid type foods are given in liquid measurements, there can be way too much variation in actual amount this way. Several years ago I found a site that gave the counts of foods in liquid volume and weight amounts so instead of 1 cup berry X, it said 6 oz. of berry X has #carbs, #fiber, etc....

Does anyone have any idea where I could find one of these "lists" on-line or in a better book than the "Food Counts" book that I do have?

Thanks!

The USDA database (http://www.ars.usda.gov/main/site_main.htm?modecode=12-35-45-00) allows you to select a volume or a weight for the food you're looking up. You can do it online, or download it to a PC or Palm. The nutritiondata (http://www.nutritiondata.com/) site also allows you to choose weights or volumes. There are probably lots more, but those are the ones I tend to use.

And with the USDA database if they make you choose ounces, but you measured in tablespoons, you can "google" something like 5 tablespoons to ounces and you will get 5.00000 Tablespoons (US) = 2.50001 Fluid Ounces (US)
