Focusing...is that the issue? Well, then...here's my moment of inspiration. ;)
If you have the time and energy to focus on this (http://www.websudoku.com/), why not give yourself some specific time and energy today to focus on your goal?
(p.s.--you only get to focus on "this" if your goal for April's new positive behavior was to spend more 'me' time.) :D
Gaelen, off to find that water bottle and go visit Dr. Personality

There must be some way to take a walk outdoors and do Sudoku at the same time....
Good luck with your appointment, Pat!

Well Stevie, they do have sudoku programs for Palm Pilots ;) Of course, if I tried to walk and do the puzzles at the same time, I'd probably trip or run into a lamp post! :D
I'm feeling very accomplished today. Last night I got in my 30 minutes of beading, emptied the dishwasher and cleaned off the counter, and got my taxes finished!
Unfortunately, I was so busy with everything, that I forgot to eat dinner. Does that mean I was too focused? ;) Part of that was because I was waiting for DH (silly me) who said he'd be home an hour after me but didn't come home til after I went to bed. :( I ended up having a quick bowl of flax-o-meal, a new chocolate flavor I had just bought, with some chocolate Torani SF syrup to sweeten it, and boy did it hit the spot! Even the mouth feel was similar to the old cream of wheat I used to enjoy as a kid. Of course the cream of wheat was usually maple flavored, but still... I know people have talked about the falx-o-meal stuff for ages, but it always takes me a while to decide to try something new.

LOL, Pat :D! Just what I need - another puzzle to get drawn into :p. Good luck with Dr P today - hope all goes well :)!
My focus for the day will be a crossword puzzle, I think. Those I can do much faster than the sudoku puzzles ;). However, now that Gaelen has tempted me with the sudoku, I might have to make that my focus for the day :D.

That has to wait until I'm off the Public Service Desk. Since folks cannot tie up long term computers meant for students writing papers, and folks looking for jobs, etc., I would get some real flack for playing games between reference questions. Looks like fun though!

I know, Bonnie. I have my own computer and I know the tech department doesn't have the time to monitor internet use but I still try to keep it to "mostly" business.

for gosh sakes - print it out and work it - there is nothing "computerized" about soduku - unless you count the hints/how am I doing part.

Actually, Carol, I spend hours on the net every day as part of the job. As manager of the public computer center, most of my reference questions are, "how do I get a free email? How do I find the lyrics to ...? How do I search for a job? And then there is my pet peeve, the luxury hotel at the harbor said I have to apply for the maid's job online. This from poor older women, frequently immigrants who have trouble with English, nevermind how to use a computer." Or another, immigrants who need an appointment with Immigration have to, you got it, get their appointment online.
Sorry, end of soap box.

Bonnie, I love the internet - I should, since that's at least partly how I make my living - but companies and government agencies still need to understand that about 40% of the population doesn't own computers. And yes, they're mostly the poorer people. Even a great many people who own them are daunted by their use, and the internet as well.
Okay, Pat, you've gotten back at me for my part in hijacking your thread yesterday...I can do one of the easy sudoku puzzles, without clicking the "how am I doing?" button, in about 13 minutes. Guess I found the free time after all!
Hey, "me time" is my goal for this month! :D

Janis...no 'getting back' at anyone intended. My post today was more along the lines of okay, if doing sudoku puzzles will motivate people to talk, then maybe they will also motivate people to focus on bigger issues, like me time, goals, priorities, etc. Hey, sudoku puzzle are in my trainer's toolbox, too. ;)
Glad they were able to give you some 'me' time, Janis...sounds as though you could use it (although I prefer doing the puzzles on paper when I can concentrate.)
Personally, I play a quick game of 'Bejeweled' when I need to focus, and I started teaching timid adults how to use computers in the early 90s by using three simple computer games--Break down the Wall, Mah Jong, and Doom.
Gaelen...who has contributed to a thread hijacking or two herself ;)

Aw, Pat, I was just teasin' ya - something I probably do to excess. LOL
I've never heard of Break Down The Wall, but I adore mahjongg and my boys would be very impressed you can play Doom. I've never been much interested in first-person shooters (or fighting games, but my kids will play Soul Calibur all night if you let them, my daughter included). My big game these days is Marbledrop on http://www.netives.com (http://www.netives.com/).
Okay, time to go pick up my medieval peasant and take him to dinner. I see a warm goat-cheese with grilled chicken salad in my future!
I wrote the IRS a letter today. I told them to cancel my subscription.

I like computer games, but for me, Sudoku is by far more appealing when done with pencil and paper.
My all time favorite computer game was Jewelbox on my husband's Apple. I've since tried other jewel games, but Jewelbox was my fave, even down to the music. All the others pale in comparison.
