I have just been diagnosed with microscopic colitis. I have been low-carbing for about 4 years. I was wondering if any one has dealt with this condition on a low carb diet and had any suggestions. A lot of the literature suggests limiting fats, and I wasn't sure if this was due to anti-fat bias of many doctors or if the fat really aggravates the problem.

I'm sorry, but I don't have any knowledge about colitis. There is a chapter in the book Life Without Bread, by Lutz & Allen, that talks about the digestive tract, and can be read online (http://www.scdiet.org/7archives/lutz/lutz7.html) (I'm not sure if it's from an older version of the book, but I don't think the information changed substantially, in any case). There are sections on ulcerative colitis, and irritable colons, so I hope some of the information will be relevant to your diagnosis.

You may try to eliminate wheat and gluten from your diet. I had IBS as a result of gluten intolerance. When I gave it up, no more bowel issues. :)
Have you been tested for other food allergies? Intestinal health can sometimes be comprised if you're eating things that you're allergic to. The Eades have a chapter in Protein Power Life Plan about intestinal issues.
I hope you feel better!
