Good morning, troops! You've made it through another week! Any exciting plans for the weekend?
I have a party to go to tonight and need to bring a finger food. I'm going to bring something that I've previously made only for my own enjoyment--pepperoni chips! How do you think they'll taste with bleu cheese dressing dip?
Tomorrow I have some senior pictures to take and an art exhibition in the evening. That will be with champagne and hors d'oeurves. Sunday will be a grandblessing day.
I've had my breakfast meatloaf, spilling the hot grease on my stove, my kitchen floor, and the jacket I was wearing. Grrr! Heated it up on a floppy paper plate. Bad move. Luckily, I had another jacket that worked without changing the rest of my clothes! My lunch is planned.
Have a great day!

Morning Carol.
You gave me an idea. Cheese fondue, pepperoni chips to dip! Nice. If I dig out that fondue recipe I did for a cooking challenge a few months ago, I might have something nice for Sunday. A nice open to lamb loin chops.
DW is giving away her car on Saturday. It's a sad day, but it's going to save money, and she can't register it here cost effectively, so it's either continue to get $40 tickets or give it to charity. I don't use my car hardly at all, so we're good to go.
Dunno what else is up for the weekend. Will figure it out when we get there.

((Carol)) you had quite a start to your day have'nt you !! Things will have to get better now.
Your pepperoni chips ought to be great. I have never tried to make those. Do you use micro or oven? How long. I have pepperoni and might try some today.
Max, your idea with the cheese fondue sounds great too. I love cheese in any way shape or form.
Good morning. I was up at 4:30. Pain. Spasms.
I have an appt for a consultation at 9:30 for the RSD. The same doc I had 7 years ago, but now he is in our insurance network. YES!..:D
I am not sure what will be the course of action this time but we don't have to try and diagnose it. Last night my husband was at the computer and I came in to talk to him. He reached out and put his hands on the backs of my calves and said it felt like a 20* difference in temperature between the two legs. The injured leg is cold. That's a sure sign. RSD decreases the blood flow to an injury after it is healed much like a car that won't stop dieseling after the key is turned off. That causes bone loss and muscle loss and eventually limb loss.. RIDING the bike becomes a nessessity not an excersize.
I have had breakfast :rolleyes:wings today and coffee.I am not much in an eating mood.
I like cold pepperoni with cream cheese of them.
Today is the first day I didn't wake up with a sinus headache!!
WOOHOO!
We had TERRIBLE storms last night (they're still deciding if an actual tornado was involved), but today is sunny, so let's hope the sinus thing is passing! The sinus headaches started on MONDAY and have occured EVERY DAY since then. The weather changes here have been from 53 degrees with low dew points to 80 degrees with dew points in the 70s! These changes are happening withing 24 hrs of each other!
SINUS PRESSURE...KILLING ME....ARGH!!
Okay, that's out of my system.
We're going dancing tonight. Will probably consume beer but I will drink either ONE Summit (12 ecc) or three Mich Ultra's (7.8ecc). Depends on whether I'm driving or not-and where I'm at with my carbs for the day!!

Afternoon, everyone!
I love pepperoni, any way I can get it:D.
I ate it cold earlier this week, with this cheese spread that I kind of "dipped". I would definitely serve that as an appetizer.
Another "new" fav is an "old" favorite - devilled eggs.
Had my on plan breakfast, had left-over chicken breast and a teaspoon of pb for lunch.
My exciting plans for this week-end is a whole late afternoon, early evening of Annie time:D today and probably closing up the pool tomorrow.

What kind of cheese in the fondue? :)

Karole, they are so simple! I put a paper towel on a paper plate, a single layer of pepperoni slices, and another layer of paper towel. Microwave ovens vary in wattage, but it will be somewhere around two or three minutes. They should be crispy/crunchy as they cool, but not burnt.
That works with small batches, but I'm thinking of putting baking racks in a cookie sheet (without paper towels) to try that way. I'm also thinking it would be quicker to do three or four microwave batches.
Agnes, whipped cream cheese sounds good too. Anything that would be a cooling agent against the spice.
Carol - Hope your day gets better!!!
Actually, it's been a good day! I didn't even get upset about the jacket (mostly because I had the other one handy).
Today is the first day I didn't wake up with a sinus headache!! WOOHOO!
Wonderful!!! Happy dancing!

Hawk, I hope you can turn it around. You sure know what you're doing!

I'm a traditionalist, so gruyere and emmenthaler. Rub the pot with garlic, add some cherry brandy, a wee bit of cornstarch, and I think you might be ready to rock. Have been struggling with dippers.
Have made the pepperoni chips in the oven before. Never done the microwave. They get very nice in the oven. Hrm. I wonder. Maybe on the grill? that's probably a bad idea, as they'd drip a ton of oil and the fire would flare something terrible. At any rate, oven, yeah. While you're there, you can make parmesan chips too. I haven't made those in a long time. Maybe tonight when I get home.
I suppose you could go against tradition and go with some milder cheeses. Maybe make it more of a fundido or a rachlette. Queso Fundido, only without sausage or chile. Let the "chip" bring the heat. Mozzarella + Jack, so it's less big on a palate.
Last thought on this. I have seen Pizza Slut (or Pizza the Hut, however you wanna dump on em) I think advertise giant sized pepperoni. I wonder about these as a good chip if you can find them in the store. With shrinkage and curling, would make an awesome dipper for something arranged properly.

I've seen Giada on FoodTV make pepperoni chips in the oven using pepperoni slices that were 3-4 inches in diameter - but I've never seen that in a store.

YES for me today.
The doc decided then and there to try an epidural. I spent the day in the surgery center next door with an epidural. About 5 minutes into it when the maracain hit those sypathetic nerves, the blood flowed into my leg. You could see it happen. It is all nice and warm now and the deep ache is gone. I hope and pray it lasts.
I ate a couple chicken wings for breakfast and coffee . Nothing else all day. Hubby is taking me to a wonderful Italian restaurant if I can walk.Still pretty numb. As soon as I could stand I made myself walk so I could go home, but I am wobbley.

Hawk, we'll all be hoping and praying this will last for a long time. You deserve a break for goodness sake.
I have a yes for the day, Max.
Carol , My kids came over and we wound up playing dominoes and visiting so did not get to try any pepperoni. Will do that tomorrow. Sounds like everyone really likes them fixed that way.

Hawk--- I hope your leg starts to feel better. Sounds very painful. So sorry.
My day was a YES. I ate fine but did not make it to the treadmill which means I have to do it both Sat and Sun. But that will be fine. As long as I hit five days during a week, I am on plan.
Hope everyone had a good week. Talk to you tomorrow.

Good news about your leg, Hawk - hope that means they did the treatment in time .
OK..OK.. You made my eyes water...does Truwarrior get teary eyed?
Last night in the late evening I felt like I was kicked in the back. This morning still the same. I am not supposed to drive till tonight..but my daughter decided that today is the day DD wants to meet her birth mom...sheesh. It's just not a great day for me to be up for it.
Why today? Why not today? It's happening because I set it up not knowing I would have the epidural yesterday.. I just hope I can live through it. DD birthmom is a reformed drug/alcaholic.About 10 years.
My daughter is 21. DD is a drama queen. It is time. I adopted DD when she was 4. DD went through a time at 12/13 when DD felt horrible for being "given up" and we couldn't convince DD other wize. DD finially got over it, but today DD will find out that DD birthmom will take responsibility for her actions and then DD won't blame herself for not being a good enough or cute enough child.(she is gorgeous) DD birth mom has half her teeth missing and is 5'7" and weighs about 90 pounds. She is 44 years old.She looks hard. She looks like a herione addict. She has had a hard life. But.. she has changed and she and I have always shared info and talked on the phone a few times a year.I am proud of her changes and confident that this will be good for my daughter. I just hope my daughter is not too hard on her birthmom...But birthmom can take it. Birthmom told me she is ready for anything. Birthmom has kept herself clean so that someday she might meet her kids again. I held it out for her to give her a reason to get better.
3 hours from now..
My daughter is a joy to me. She could also be a joy to her birth mom if she could forgive her.It would be a ball and chain off my daughter.Healing.I hope.

...giant sized pepperoni. I wonder about these as a good chip if you can find them in the store. With shrinkage and curling, would make an awesome dipper for something arranged properly.
I thought of that, too. I think it would be easier to find that size in a meat market and have it sliced to the proper thickness. I don't remember seeing any at the one I have, but I'll look closer when I go this week. I know they have preserved meats in their showcase.
I ended up doing the chips in the microwave, but I wasn't happy with the variety of doneness I got. Most were crispy but some were not. Next time--the oven. I went with the bleu cheese dressing (a la hot wings) for lack of time and ingredients, but I will experiment with the cheeses.
Editing to confess a NO today. Not bad, but over my limit. :p
