Here we are, the last day of September, and then on to a new Challenge.
Here we are, last day of the September Challenge. How are you doing? Anything you would do differently?

Max, I’m over my ECC target by days so I’m out of the running for the CD.
I've finished my workout (loads of variations on stretches, concentrated curls, leg weights and dips on a chair), and today will be a YES (IF day with a large dinner and guests (roast lamb, vegetable spaghetti, and a salad).

I have already gotten my walking in and then worked a young horse for another 45 min. or so and that involved a lot of walking too, so I am good to go on the exercise front today. So much nicer to do it early , makes me have more energy to do other things too.
This month has gone so fast for me, I can't believe it. Actually when I look back on it, the nine months since I started with Protein Power again have just flown by.
I can't help thinking that had I chose not to take action in Jan. I there is no telling what I might weigh at this point in time. In stead, happily, I finally got it together mentally and decided to actually do something about it besides wishful thinking. There is a vast difference in wishing and doing.
Wishing = disappointment Doing= accomplishment !!

Well, I had 22 days on out 30. With a solid 4lbs lost. Not the numbers i was hoping for but since i had a huge falling off the program, I am happy to say there still is a loss. And really, the numbers are still in the normal range.
Here is to a wonderful October!!!!

Well yesterday wasn't good, but today will be. I've had my walk and stretches. Sudden request to care for the grandblessing for a couple of hours and I haven't seen him since last week. That's a gift!
This was not a stellar month but it beat last month. October will be even better.
Took a road trip yesterday to catch some fall color photos. Clear and sunny at home, but up north there was a thick cloud cover and the light was murky by mid-afternoon. Oh well, in a couple of weeks I'll be surrounded by color down here. The scenery was wonderful even though it was pretty green most of the day. We stopped and checked out our little cabin, met neighbors down the road who were having a garage sale and found out both husbands had gone to the same high school at the same time. Small world. Visited some other friends. Had a great meal at a small tavern. Came home to our recliner chairs (gettin' old here!) and generally had a good day.
Hi Randy, Karole and Sarah!

Carol, it sounds like you had a great day yesterday. I just love day trips like that.
I agree Feelix, four pounds is four pounds and nothing to sneeze at. October challenge really sounds like it will be interesting and should keep folks on their toes.

September was a great month for me - not fantastic, or superlative, but better than my previous months had been by having so many days in a row to start off with and many more days with a great deal more exercise than just my walking.
Today will be a very good day.
We walked, 3x around - we both felt good doing it, too!
Dinner will be roasted chicken - which will give me left-overs, too.

Yes, for the day. I felt creative today and made 2 new recipes. One was peanut butter cookies and they were very good. The second one was coconut meal pancakes and they were good altho I modified them so they were a bit thicker than the original recipe would have been. I have some left over for another time too.

Karole - Can you point me in the direction of recipes you used for the coconut pancakes and peanut butter cookies?
Those sound tasty!

YES for today on the workout and the WoE.
Total: 1116
Fat: 63
Carbs: 37 - 17 = 20ECC
Fiber: 17
Protein: 101
Tomorrow is October and we are off on a new challenge.
I had roast chicken and salad for lunch today...coffee for breakfast and I was on the roof all day handing shingles to my husband and cutting shingles.. We took a water break and laid back looking at the sky and fell asleep for a few . A very beautiful day. I had a glass of shiraz and some broccoli and cheese and a few microwave pepperoni chips around 7:30. It was an exhausting day.
As I watched my 53 year old husband carry the shingle packs up that ladder with the cords sticking out of his arms I fell in love all over again. 35 years.... He still has it.
Yes today

Feelix, I am so sorry I don't know how to link things but I found the coconut pancakes in Recipes in the thread entitled coconut flour. I warn you I modified it because it was so runny and never did get a real thick mixture. I only used 4 eggs, not 6 also. To thicken them I added 2 scoops vanilla protein powder , 4 tbl carb quik, 1/2 t cinnamon and 1/2 t baking powder. The taste was okay, but I think they got a little more involved than I like. Oh yes, I used whipped cream on mine instead of syrup to conserve carbs.
Now for the peanut butter cookies. I really do like them and so did dd and dh. Dd took some home with her to let her dd try as they both are now doing pp. yahoo.
Actually, I found 2 recipes a couple of weeks ago in a desk drawer. Do not have a clue when or where I printed them off. Anyway, I combined the 2 recipes so they are different from either of the original recipes so guess I don't need to worry about infringing on anyones recipe.
Peanut Butter Cookies (oven 350)
1 cup crunchy peanut butter
1 egg
2 Tbl. Carb Quik (optionall)
1/2 xylitol and 1/2 c Splenda (or use 1 cup Splenda if taste is ok to you)
1/2 t vanilla extract
Measure dough out with teaspoon and form into balls. Place in a lightly greased cookie sheet, and flatten with a fork. Bake til light brown on bottom less than 10 min. (one recipe said 15, the other 10 min. but I watched closely and 10 min. even would have been too long.
I got 42 cookies, but they were very small.
Here are the counts from Fit day
Calories 1795
Fat 143
Carbs 86
Fiber 23
Protein 77
alcohol 1 (vanilla extract !!)
So ecc for the whole recipe is 63 just divide that by however many cookies you get for each cookie total. My little cookies are 1.5 ecc per cookie.
Hope you like them as well as we do.

Hey, Hawk, you're sounding like a GIRL there! :D Thirty five years, really? We're only working on twenty six, but we started late. We're older, too.
It's nice to hear that you're moving better.
Way to go, Agnes. I'm glad you had a good month.
I cooked up a pot of beef and vegetables and I plan to get a couple of lunches out of the leftovers.
I get a YES for today. I have totally lost track of where I am, but I'm sure I don't get a CD.
Carol..We started REAL early.;) Highschool sweethearts. 17 & 18. August 26 we were married. We had our first son June 24 the next summer.10 months later. We saved, built our first house and a barn from the ground up on 2 acres. We had a second son 3 1/2 years later and adopted two of our 22 foster children. We've raised half our kids friends. They still visit. One brought me 35 pounds of venison yesterday. :cool:Our house was always full of our kids friends. It is nice now to have the house to ourselves. We made alot of money on the house we built and have bought and remodeled two since then. Our oldest just called yesterday. A brick house in his neighborhood just went up for sale. A nice brick...repo.. He said..Now that you built such an awesome porch and all the landscaping just how you like..You ought to sell and move near us!!:lol: :lol:I think the grandkids would be at our house every Saturday at 6 am.:paranoid:
