I thought today we might lighten things a bit ... by a pound or two ... or even a laugh.
How are you doing this week?

"I'm prescribing these pills for you," said the doctor to the overweight patient, who tipped the scales at about three hundred pounds.
"I don't want you to swallow them. Just spill them on the floor twice a day and pick them up, one at a time...."

Wife to her overweight husband: Last night there were two pieces of cake in this pantry and now there is only one. How do you explain that?
Husband: It was so dark that I didn't see the other piece.

Did you hear about the gourmet who avoids unfashionable restaurants because he doesn't want to gain weight in the wrong places?

Today is on track, strenght training at lunch, and dinner is leftovers. Last night we had two students over and we covered ttraditions, holidays and eating habits. I asked them what foods they missed most from home . The one from Austria/Hungary said Schnitzle (sp?) and the other, from France, who eats at the cafeteria said "Meat that is red." I asked further and she explained that all the meat is gray here. "I would really like a piece of meat that is red.
We discussed further and she would like to have a steak sometime that is seared but still red in the middle. We will have them back early in December.

Randy - Thanks for such an amusing kick-start to the day :D !!!

On track today with my menus planned, water going down, activity done for the day (except for my lunch walk), and the mind more than challenged this morning .

Happy Wednedsay, all :)!

Person from france should learn the following phrases:
Pittsburgh Rare
Black and Blue
Still Mooing

All will suffice to get exactly the steak she is looking for at a reasonable quality restaurant. Practice makes perfect.

Today is set for day 11 consecutively. Feeling a little fuzzy.
Today, thus far I have:
Spent most of my expiring bonus points (Travel magazine and a year subscription to total access at Zagat.com... need to bring my Border's Rewards card back to my wallet)
Walked the treadmill. I'm ready for more. In fact, I might go back for more at lunch.
Registered for a free seminar on chocolate with the wife.
Researched better treadmill workouts.
Ate lunch. And a shake.
Emptied my email box.
Replied to a lot of conversations online.
Confirmed my outsourced labor agreement (this is gonna be cool if it works).

This afternoon, a good hour on work work. A good hour of desk cleaning.
Then home.

Rock on.

I'm gonna go back to the gym right now.

Good morning, Randy and Lita! This is the day between storms. Rained like crazy yesterday and storms and tornados predicted for tomorrow, but today must be the eye of the storm. I love watching wild weather--from a chair by the window with a cup of tea. Not so fond of tornados or even high winds, since we're surrounded by oaks and those branches will come down if encouraged!

My day is going well so far. I've had my breakfast shake and am working on a delicious chicken/bacon salad. Leftover ham and roast beef for dinner, probably. I was very happy to find my bs at 90 this morning. I must be doing something right. I didn't take the diabetic med today. It's not one that needs tapering off. I'm seeing one of my docs tonight, the one who introduced me to PP, so I'll run it by him.

On track today. Have to admit that yesterday was a no. It was my monthly dinner with fiber friends. I did not go overboard. I had only a couple of forks of the carby things. Besides the wonderful roast beef, I had a taste of mashed potatos, 2 carrots, a taste of homebaked bread, and a taste of rhubarb pie. It was good and I don't feel guilty.

Then I went home and walked on the treadmill.

Great one, Randy~!

Meals, snacks planned, ready to eat, in fact, have eaten breakfast, snack, lunch at 1pm.

This am, at the gym, I reaquainted myself with the weight machines, lat pull, chest thingie, hamstring, leg, etc. I have trouble remembering all the names, but I started on them all.
Tonight, will be the recumbent bike for 20 minutes as last night was the treadmill.
No excuses for missing the gym anymore, I am worth working out before heading home.

Shadow, hope you see this. I am sore, but oh, so proud.

My too large scrub pants are rolled up at the waist to keep them up. I must go shopping soon...

Good morning all--

Thanks Randy for the laugh. Nice way to start out the day. To add to the lightness of the day, I offer the following which I found yesterday and just love. If you want a minute to feel happy and at one with the world, check out this dancing bird. The longer you watch, the better you'll feel. It just goes to show... movement and feeling good are universal.

Check him out and watch him dance!: http://tinyurl.com/2vhkqy

Thanks Blue ... what an amazing workout he is getting!:D

I was just sent another one ...

A woman was very unhappy with her car and complained a lot to her husband.
"Buy me a surprise for my birthday!" she said.
"Something that accelerates from 0 to 100 in less than 4 seconds! And I would prefer a blue one!"

Happy and excited she was counting down the days for her birthday. And finally she got the beautiful present her husband thoughtfully bought....

Ottawa,

LOL! I shouldn't read these things when I'm on the reference desk. I think that's one husband who would be in trouble.

LOL...oh, Randy, maybe we should make Wednesdays "share a joke" day.
Laughter is the best thing in the world most days.

I'm on track, still saying 'yes' every day. Doing my back exercises x3 (and the wall props, which are like an upward-facing dog yoga move, or a push up against a wall, whenever it hurts). Getting my protein in, and keeping carbs under 45g ECC. Relaxing in my feather bed, and actually sleeping relatively painfree...and even the dogs are anxious to hop onto the new cushy bed topper. And at work, the mental challenges never stop. My current one--where to find space in my 8 x 10 office for 25+ binders of validation test material which my IT boss is bringing home from his latest field trip to NJ for my personal review and signature. Talk about putting 10 lbs into a 5 lb. bag...

At any rate, a relatively good day so far. Good Wednesdays, everyone!

I wish!:D

I worked partway through lunch before I realized I was missing my workout class so I'll rent a movie tonight and do a Billie Blanks band workout instead. There is a tense movie about women going down a mine shaft (Descent) that my wife wanted to see as well but I am going away this weekend with my son and she knows it is a bit scary and will wait until I return rather than be in the house alone thinking about dark places.;) I've seen it once about a month ago and it is worth seeing again with strong female characters and things that live in deep caves.

Food laid out for dinner and today will be
Total: 1767 IF 20/4
Fat: 140
Carbs: 55 -32= 23
Fiber: 32
Protein: 98

Blue - That boy can dance :D! Thank you!

Randy -! That is hysterical - but only because the joke wasn't on me ;)!

And hello to everyone else, too !

I really needed those jokes this morning, but my laptop never left its drawer. I gave PSAT exams at our school, followed by a pizza party, two classes (with parents visiting today), choir rehearsal, and detention duty. Then I rushed over to see my family doctor (this is apparently "appointment week"), stopped by home to grab some supper, and made it to my evening shift at the college.

Loved the cockatoo! I'll have to let my husband see that.

Sounds like everyone's on track. Me too--usual breakfast, southwest chicken wraps for lunch, and chili for supper. When I get home, I'll have a protein shake, and that should finish it up. I still have a lot of water to get down, but I'll do it. You know it's a busy day when you don't even have time to get to the water fountain to fill up the bottle.

The best part of the day for me was NOT indulging in the six extra pieces of pizza sitting on my desk, but patiently waiting for my lunch time so I could eat my planned lunch:).

This is a great lighten it up day. I agree--maybe we should do this every Wednesday!

By the way, my doctor was very happy with my weight loss and reduced blood pressure--it's all good.

Gaelen--what kind of bed topper did you buy? My husband often has uncomfortable nights with his back and I was thinking a mattress topper might help.

Way to go, Ruth !

Well, I've been here, it's been a fun day, and now I'm leaving .

Have a great evening, all.

And today is another 'yes' :)

Feelix - way to go!

Everyone else, I mostly skimmed through the posts - hope I didn't miss anything important.

Day from, not he$$, but the kind where one never stops. From start to finish. Ended up with a bag and a half of peanuts (small, snack size bags), maybe an ounce each, with a cup of coffee for lunch. I had a beautiful lunch all ready, but it was at home and I didn't have time to go home to get it.

Got home late from work, dh & I still went for our walk - still hadn't eaten since breakfast (for those of you who don't know me - I DO NOT miss meals) After the walk, had to an errand and dh tells me he made dinner plans with another couple:rolleyes:. So, didn't eat until about 14 hours after my breakfast:tear:.
However, I did tons of moving & shaking and ate only on plan. I had chicken breast with sliced tomato and mozzarella for dinner.
So, I might have gone under on protein, but think I actually hit it and definitely didn't go over on carbs for the day:D so I'm counting Wednesday as a YES day and that makes me 12/16.

Day 11? It was a yes.

Yes for Wednesday.

Doctor said most of my pain is muscular, brought on by hobbling on days when the knee hurts more. He massacred my calves with a massage implement until the muscles relaxed. I walked out pain free. Now my mission is to keep those muscles from tightening up again! I don't know what I would do without him.

Yes for Wednesday.

Glad the doctor was able to help you Carol! :-)
