Good morning, all.:p

We made it all the way to the end...and hopefully, we're leaving October more true to ourselves and more mindful about staying on plan.

I had a great October...down a pound, and the back pain from the herniated disc is finally responding to physical therapy. I can actually go days in a row (the longest was 13 days) without supplemenatal pain meds. Yippee!

29 yes days for October, and 2 no days (one I sleep too long and didn't get in my minimum protein, and the day after I skipped any kind of exercise or mental challenge to stay sleeping.

So...ante up, challengers. Check in and let us know how YOU did this fine Ocbober? How many 'yes' days, versus 'no' days? And how do you think that affected your measurement of choice moving downward? staying the same? moving upward?

Check in...and share your Fun-with-Wednesdays joke when you post your results today! Have a great Wednesday, everyone!

The Lone Ranger and Tonto went camping in the desert.
>> After they got their tent all set up, both men fell sound asleep.
>> Some hours later, Tonto wakes the Lone Ranger and says, 'Kemo Sabe,
>>look towards sky, what you see? '
>> 'The Lone Ranger replies, 'I see millions of stars.'
>> 'What that tell you?' asked Tonto.
>> The Lone Ranger ponders for a minute then says, 'Astronomically
>>speaking, it tells me there are millions of galaxies and potentially
>>billions of planets. Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo.
>> Time wise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three in >> the
>>morning. Theologically, the Lord is all-powerful and we are small and
>>insignificant. Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day
>>tomorrow. What's it tell you, Tonto?'
>>
>> 'You dumber than buffalo. It means someone stole the tent. '

I got about 15 days this month.I struggled with getting the protien I needed. I had hives half the month and something resembling stomach flu. I think the meds I take for RSD have ravaged my stomach and intestinal tract.. SO.. I am drinking whey with glutamine for a few days.
Last night I don't know which was worse, my stomach or my right leg. I did not sleep much. Let's hope the glutamine helps.

Good day to all--

On my usual schedule this morning (breakfast shake, one bottle of water done, lunch packed).

I have had just one day (actually just one meal) off plan this month, so it's been a great month. To celebrate, I'm wearing a skirt one size smaller. It's a bit snug, but the one I have like it a size larger is too big to wear. My scales seem to show I'm down about 5 pounds.

My contribution to the joke pool (lifted from "Daily Jokes")--

The Perfect Worker

1 Bob Smith, my assistant programmer, can always be found
2 hard at work in his cubicle. Bob works independently, without
3 wasting company time talking to colleagues. Bob never
4 thinks twice about assisting fellow employees, and he always
5 finishes given assignments on time. Often he takes extended
6 measures to complete his work, sometimes skipping coffee
7 breaks. Bob is a dedicated individual who has absolutely no
8 vanity in spite of his high accomplishments and profound
9 knowledge in his field. I firmly believe that Bob can be
10 classed as a high-caliber employee, the type which cannot be
11 dispensed with. Consequently, I duly recommend that Bob be
12 promoted to executive management, and a proposal will be
13 executed as soon as possible.

Addendum:

That idiot was standing over my shoulder while I wrote the report
sent to you earlier today. Kindly re-read only the odd numbered
lines.

Have a great day, everyone.

Lynn and Ruth, I love them both!

I had a good month for a change with only three or four NO days. Cravings are non-existant unless I decide to have a pity party, then I have to be on guard. Many fewer pity parties this month, too! I haven't used the scale but my pants are noticeably looser and my rings are swinging again! My leg muscles are in better shape and I can tell whether the pain is in the knee or muscular. I can do something about the muscular, at least. My brain is still working on GCBC and I'm considering taking it along. I'm a little concerned that it will keep me from making the best use of the conference workshops and interacting with the friends.

I'm facing a five-day trip starting this afternoon. The conference I'm attending NEVER has meat for breakfast. It's a low-budget thing. I made Randy's protein cookies last night using the almond davinci sweetener and some crushed almonds on top for texture. Those will be my breakfast for three days.

Amy, I'll wave at you when I drive through Minneapolis! :D

Great humor!!!

I missed 5 days but feel great, I'm down a few pounds, and have given up snacking. Workouts are up in load, life is a little more in order and my co-worker is now sharing the load.

The Purina Diet
I was in Wal-Mart buying a large bag of Purina for my dogs and was
in line to check out. A woman behind me asked if I had a dog........ Duh!

I was feeling a little annoyed so on impulse, I told her "No, I'm starting The Purina Diet again, although I probably shouldn't. Last time I ended up in the hospital, but had lost 50 pounds before I woke in intensive care.

Her eyes about bugged out of her head. I went on and on with the bogus diet story and she was totally buying it. I told her that it was an easy, inexpensive diet and that the way it works is to load your pockets or purse with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The package said the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again to trim off the last 50.

I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story, particularly the big guy behind her. Horrified, she asked if something in the dog food had poisoned me and was that why I ended up in the hospital.

“No!” I said, “I was just sitting in the street licking myself when a car hit me.”

I thought the big guy was going to have to be carried out the door.

 - What great humor!!! Too bad I don't have any to contribute :o.

Today will be my 31st day on plan . No results to speak of externally, but I know there's a whole lot of good going on inside :D.

okay, my turn...a proofreader friend just sent me this one, a word-use grammar joke:

The world's shortest mental health joke

A man walked into a the therapist's office wearing only a clear plastic wrap 'toga.'
The therapist's first comment was, "Well, I can clearly see your nuts."

Hrm, time to pull out the old stuff.

Jim is going over to his girlfriend's parents house for the first time. He forgot about the date, and ate a couple bean burritos at Taco Bell for lunch. Gassy and bloated, Jim goes on the date, hoping he can control himself.

At the dinner table, everyone is having a great time. Course after course comes, and Jim is doing okay. But, after a heavy main course, the pain of holding his gas is unbearable, so Jim lets a little out. It's ferociously stinky, but not too loud. His girlfriend's Dad, Roger, yells, "Rover!" at the dog sitting under Jim's chair.

Jim is thrilled. The guy thinks the dog is farting. So, he let's another one fly. Roger again, "ROVER!"

Jim's just got one more to go, and it flies. Loud and room clearing.

Roger: "Rover! Get out from under him before he takes a crap on you."

I had a great October, had some challenges in the family front, blended family, new baby. But what doesn't kills us only makes us stronger! Continued the PPLP with consistent progress on the fat loss dept. Lost 4 more lbs. I am not counting anything, just making sure I am getting enough protein. I have upped my carb intake via more fruit consumption. I am doing IF in a random fashion, once or twice a week. Workouts have been great. I am 25 lbs away from my goal of wieghing 210 lb at 11.5% BF.

Some really great humor here. Thanks to all.

Fat: 194
Carbs: 24 - 4 = 20ECC
Fiber: 4

55 minutes weights training at lunch, and brought twenty 30 pound brinks home (stacked in yard). Tonight we are going to see a grandson and we'll walk both ways with hand weights.

I started out having a great October, but didn't end with the right sort of bang.

I'm looking forward to November;)

Hi everyone--

So happy to see that you all had a lot of success this month and a few of you acheived perfect success. Wowie zowie! For all of us. I started strong and ended less strong but sort of on track. Translated, that means I fell down on my exercise for 6 days. This last week, actually. I let a deadline get in my way, but I know it wasn't the deadline. it was me. The deadline is over tonight and so for November my goal is to make 30 days, including Thanksgiving.

So thank you all for a supportive and fun month. I'll see you tomorrow for day one of november.

So, Weighing today, November 1, I was 210 lbs. I think at the start, I might've weighed in at 212, so that's progress, though not much. Better diligence, more commitment, etc. On the flip side, when I was 212, my body fat on the monitor at the gym was ~16.5% on Athlete setting. Today, at 210, it was 14.4%. So, with the lifting this month (hard at the end after a layoff), I laid down some muscle (or reinflated it, or whatever). It skews the scale, but when you do the complex math, it works to nearly 5 lbs of fat gone, which I can be very happy with. Goal is up to 197.5, I guess.

So, mentally, where am I at? I am really enjoying the things I want to enjoy. I am doing the diet 5-6 days out of 7, am better for it, but am rediscovering dating my wife (just cause we're married doesn't mean we can't date like we did before) and that's a great joy. So, I'm not as hard core as I was, but I am refinding the joy. And that's maybe more important than an arbitrary weight/body fat goal, now that I'm not particularly physically unhealthy.

I'm rediscovering weight lifting in a more methodical manner and enjoying the mental challenge of that. I'm enjoying the puzzle of very tough sudoku puzzles. I'm enjoying the grind of (no money) no limit hold em poker. And work even got better.

I guess, on the whole, this month, and perhaps this challenge, by extension, has been a great success, though the scale doesn't register much of a change.
