Goodmorning, where is everyone today? Must be the time change.
Last night had my favorite cousin over,(like a brother), and he's the one with the serous surgery now doing well I have posted about lately.
He wanted to go to a local Mexican place, so we went. Taco salad for me, sans tortilla, lots of salsa, queso, but only a small handfull of chips.
Another day of totally unpacking, (yea) it will be good to have that finished.
This am, aerobics tape done, core work, some toning.
Will check in later, off to eat breakfast.
Hope all have a great Sunday.

Good morning Claudette!
Good job at the Mexican restaurant! Mexican food is a huge weakness for me - so far haven't ventured into one since starting PP...:o
Last night had one drink (Jack and diet) with dinner for the first time in quite a while, and I felt terrible! Not only did it taste too sweet (even with diet!), but afterward, I just felt lousy; kind of shaky and hungry! I know that alcohol really messes with my blood sugar, so I know I'm better off avoiding it in the future....
Have a great day (lots of studying to do for me)!

My hubby and I received an extra unplanned hours of sleep. We were to turn our clocks back but instead we forgot. I woke up with the clock saying 9am. (This is totally sleeping in at our house) My husband and I were both shocked that we slept in this long but feeling refreshed we started our day. We had a small dry wall project in our garage and so off to Home Depot we went. We got back, finished our project, looked at my phone and it said 10am. I told my husband we did great getting this all done in an hour. We have a whole day to waste! It just now dawned on me that we forgot to turn the clock back. :-) Fun!
I put crockpot beef stew on and should be ready and tasty by supper.
Here is to a great Sunday!
PS - Mexican sounds amazing. Congrats on a great visit. I agree that Mexican is a weakness. It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO tasty. Tex Mex is the same for me. I have found that if I order fajitas with queso, I have a great spicy, cheesy veggie mix.

Well...I was quiet because I've been working on the 'clean up the downstairs' part of the weekend checklist...and the next step is 'groom the dogs' which will NOT be quiet. Champion Madison sometimes acts as though she's never been on a table before, and Casey at almost 13 really hates me messing with his morning beauty sleep--but I do have to make some progress on their coats on days like today when I have energy and they're relatively dry...tough to work on coated dogs when they're soaked from frost and morning (or evening) dew.
I've also crossed a few more names off my holiday gift list (it helps to watch QVC while organizing my office paperwork, so that I can shop and work at the same time!)
I want to put an apple and sage stuffed pork roast in the oven while grooming the dogs so that I have a couple of lunches and dinners taken care of for this week, so off to hit the grocery store--I've got plenty of sage, but I need an apple to pull this off. Good Sundays, all!

Gaelen,
I did not know you have an ostomy. I'm not sure where I was at but I did not pay attention to those details!
I too am on the Christmas List knock down. :-) I started wrapping presents last night. I am looking forward to Christmas!

Good morning everyone--
I've had hectic week. Actually it has been a pressure-filled month. I had to finish a project and get it in by October 31st, which I did. The deadline had to be met because I am a writer and I go out on strike tomorrow. I am also a Strike Captain and have been attending meetings to find out what the heck that means and than contacting my team of writers and filling them on where our assigned studio is and what is expected of us. I've never had to strike before. It's a little scary.
The situation is that six huge corporations own this town now and all the output, and they also control the media and its message. That's why in the papers and talk shows and news shows... just about everywhere, we are painted as rich, spoiled writers who all live in Malibu and light our cigars with hundred dollar bills. That is so untrue. Competition for jobs is fierce and the mean income of our 8500 member union is $5000 a year. That's because not everyone gets to work all the time. Of the regularly working writers, the mean yearly earnings are around 50,000. Out of that comes the 10% we pay to our agents and the 1 1/2 % we pay to our union. Sure some of us earn more. But some years we don't. And we all have a shelf life which is much shorter than that of a non-entertainment industry job. Although in this day and age, no one is safe anymore.
This is all to say, do not believe the corporate hype that we are spoiled people demanding vulgar amounts of money. It's not true. We just want no rollback in our health and pension benefits. And we demand to profit from the sales and downloads of our work... but only if the studio profits. They make it sound like we want an unfair share. In their eyes, any share is unfair. We are asking for less than 1% of their profit on dvds and downloads. If they make nothing, then we make nothing. Residuals are part of how we have always been paid. And they are trying to phase them out.
Sorry. I didn't mean to get on a soapbox. I've just been up to my ears in union matters and the strike. And it's worrisome. If it goes on a long time, not only will the writers suffer, but so many of our friends who work in the industry with us. And also the rest of the city, like all the small businesses who will lose their customers because people who aren't earning money won't spend any. If the strike goes on long enough, the entire state will suffer. We have the support of most of the entertainment workers in town and that has been great. We are the canaries in the coal mine because what the studios do to us, they will do to the other unions when their contracts come up for renewal. The teamsters are supporting us, which is wonderful. Most of them have pledged not to cross our picket lines into the studios. Tomorrow will be an interesting day.
So that's why I've been a little scarce. Writing to deadline and now organizing and agitating. I'll try to be more present going forward. One good thought... a promise. I am packing good food for me and will ignore the donuts. And I will be getting in at least 4 hours of walking a day if not more! Carrying a sign, which will burn a few more calories and get those arms toned. ;-)
Hope you all have a good day. Enjoy your extra hour.

Good for you Ocean! I hope your stress level improves...but it sounds like your doing your best!
Gaelen...dogs...aren't they FUN! lol :jawDrop::D Their own personalities are very amusing! lol
Feelix...my husband last night TOLD ME not to get up early...lol...which isn't usually a problem for me....so guess WHO was? Him.
Holly, I generally love fajita's and managed to enjoy them minus the torilla...and it's just as pleasent! I'd rather figure out what I CAN have then avoid those places altogether and feel like I'm missing out.
Claudette, I can't imagine moving! :jawDrop: Glad your on the downside of it!
As for me, I woke up with a post 'cycle' migraine....really was a killer, seems to have eased...but my brain feels somewhat numb. Other then that, I'm good.

I hope it clears soon. Aren't those hormones fun? The last couple of days, I could barely summon the energy to hold a conversation, and dinners were the simplest thing possible. Today, we have beef stock in the fridge, pork jelly and chicken stock cooling, pork curing for ham steaks, salmon curing for gravadlax, beef curing for spiced beef, lamb marinading for a casserole, and more lamb seasoned ready to be bottled in olive oil. And we had chicken with preserved lemons and olives for dinner. I didn't even notice I was feeling better until my husband pointed it out .
hmmm....... speaking about Fajitas, That was lunch for us at our local Mexican restaurant. Sans tortillas. Too much food. I got a headache immediately afterward. Rats...
I ran sound for kids church. I love that better than adult church. Kids are better than adults. Honest little buggers they are. No pretense.
I am still tired from running sound and packing up equipment at the benefit we did last night.
They served us filet and fresh green beans and salad. I gave my new potatoes to the the 300 pound 6'3" man (one of our singers) who sat near me. He said his plate looked like an appitizer for him. The filet was rare. great meal. We play for food. That's our only charge. We set up at 3 pm. Have a sound check at 4:30. change our clothes and are ready for cocktail hour. I run sound through all the anouncements and auctions and stuff and then food is served and then ... the band. We were done at 11 pm and we packed up, unplugged aveything and then load a 5x7 uhaul to the brim. Some day our tires are going to spread apart and the whole thing will drop to the ground. We finially got home at 12:30 pm. Long night.

Well...not that I deserved it Mitra...but I've not exactly been very 'good' about my bio identical hormone treatment...so, I had it comin'. Still hurts despite my stupidity...lol I've still had them before while 'on' my hormones too...so it's still something specific lacking.

Missy and Claudette--
Did you go to a doctor for the bio-identical hormones? I am using a very low dose estriol patch having had a complete hysterectomy three years ago. But I'm a bit worried that since I don't have my ovaries, that I'm not producing the little bit of testosterone that keeps one's muscle mass from more quickly deteriorating, not to mention helping some of the other symptoms. Where did you start? It just seems so overwhelming to deal with all the information.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Good Day to all of you...
I see some old and dear friends and some new faces as well. I'll be back more often now that I'm coming to the end of my recovery from surgery and will be more mobile soon. It won't be so much of an effort to get to the computer.
I had surgery on my left foot nearly 6 weeks ago and have been unable to walk. It's been interesting since I live in a tri-level.
I gained nearly 30 pounds over the summer, lost 15 just since the surgery (surprisingly without formal exercise), however, it's been a considerable workout just to move my self around (hopping with the aide of a walker). The circumference of my left calf shrunk considerably without any use it is 2.5 inches smaller than my right. It will take some work to even the two out again, but soon I will be up to the challenge. I don't think anyone realizes how much you miss being able to exercise and do stuff until you either can't or the effort it will take is just not worth it.
Take care and I'll be back soon.

It really was a quiet Sunday. After morning church, we just spent the afternoon sitting around the living room--something we don't get a lot of time to do together, so it was nice.
Then it was off to evening church, where I rehearsed with my ladies' a cappella group, directed the choir, and then had choir practice. A good evening!
I didn't really eat enough today, as far as protein goes. Think I needed a day off, but I didn't indulge in carbs.
