I realize that it's still Wednesday but I wanted to ask everyone what their drink of choice is. Do you drink diet soda? water? coffee? tea? protein shakes? Do you mix drinks? do you have a favorite drink recipe?
What is your favorite drink?

That's an easy one, Feelix...water, or cafe au lait.

I drink water, coffee (though I tend more towards the espresso end of things, so it doesn't contribute anything meaningful to my fluid intake), tea (black, green, white) assorted herb teas. More water in summer, more hot drinks in winter. For me tea is a hot drink, though I don't have it in quite the trad English way, because I don't add milk.

Water, diet coke, breve latte. 80-16-4.
coffee..a few cups, and then almost a gallon on water.
In the winter time herbal teas..red zinger, red raspberry, lemon mist. Organic, bought by the pound.
I love diet coke. I used to be addicted to it. I think it contributed to having RSD. I don't touch it with a 10 foot pole now.
I just got home from having a sleep test. A very kind man put 21 electrodes all over me with some sort of sticky paste and paper tape. I think 10 of them were in my hair. 6 on my face. four on my neck. I looked like the wicked witch of the west. My sleep apnea is not better . It's worse. I went from a 5 to a 12 as far a pressure to keep my throat open. allergies.

Oh....don't you just HATE those sleep tests like that! HOW in the HECK do they think you can 'sleep' like normal all WIRED UP and knowing your being WATCHED!:eek::rolleyes:
I drink Iced Tea mainly, with as little of sweetener as I can manage...hopefully soon, without ANY, which is my goal. Or water.
I'm a busy busy bee teaching...and having a blast. :D So sorry I'm absent.
We had a very exciting Election results, and our friend ended up elected into a pivotal role for our township that means more to us especially since essentially it's one of my husbands four 'bosses'. She is going to be a terrific choice and well suited for the job. ~ HOWEVER....she doesn't start until April. And the current out going person in the position AIN'T non to happy! :jawDrop::rolleyes: So 'life' is going to be rough and stressful....but there is LIGHT at the end of the tunnel. :D and that's ALL that matters!

For my money, Missy get's the 'processing knowlege' points today for this statement in the carb addiction thread:
we are becoming more armed with knowledge...therefore we've blown the cover off mindlessness.
Very well expressed, Missy!
Busy Thursday ahead, with PT at the end of the day, but I have done this before and I know how to be good to myself. Good Thursdays everyone!

Thanks Gaelen! It's the TOTAL difference for me in grasping this wholeheartedly this time around. Thanks for saying so! I feel like I earned a STAR STICKER TODAY! LOL :D
Off to work MINDFULLY today!

Hi all, I drink a lot of coffee, a cup or two of various types of tea and several glasses of water each day. I am going to work on lowering my consumption of coffee as my next project. Water would just be a lot better for me.
Speaking of water-- I have a good friend who has gone years with very little water consumption. All of us near her have begged her to drink, drink, drink --to no avail. She has been having trouble with bp and other issues and recently a blood test has indicated a kidney problem. Her doctors say she absolutely must drink more water. She says she gets busy at work and just forgets it so yesterday I told her to set a timer and drink a few ounces each time it goes off. I hope she will. So sad to see folks damage their own health, but if we look at what we are doing in our own lives we all probably have some issue we tend to "over look". I think coffee is one of those for me as I have high bp and that much caffeine can only exerbate my problem.
I need to take note of what has happened to my friend, --she didn't treat her body right , and has kidney damage. I'm not treating my body right, and need to make a change. I am the only one who can take care of my own health.
Thanks for bringing this subject up Feelix, writing all this out has made it perfectly clear what I need to do.

Hi,
I am always thirsty. And no I am not diabetic. I have been tested and retested. My drink of choice is usually Diet Rite. It has splenda instead of nutrasweet and it is caffeine free. Helps to keep the headaches at bay. I also drink a fair amount of water. As it gets cooler or when we are out for dinner and the like I drink hot tea. I have never developed a taste for coffee. Alcohol of choice is red wine.

Hey missy, a similar thing happened in our little town. My friend is now the Mayor!! Whoopie!!! She was in for four, got voted out, and now voted back in. I think everyone realized how very good she really was after we had a jerk who alienated all the city workers.
I am allergic to almost everything used in the sleep center. They used some of it any way. I have huge welts on my neck and collar bone from tape they used. At least they did not use it all across my forhead. I told them they could only use paper tape. They used other stuff on my neck and throat. It is raised and huge. It feels like burns and my throat is constricted. I have never had that happen before. I soaked it all off in a bath when I got home. I think I am going for the benadryl.

First thing in the morning, it's coffee. My favorite variety is with real cream and hazelnut davinci and a shake of cinnamon. I try to save it for the weekends and have it unsweetened at work.
I switch to water after a couple of cups and sometimes have herb tea in the late afternoon, as a treat. At home, I chug a tumbler of water several times a day. Protein shakes are just fuel and a convenient way to get my supps into my body. Yesterday was mango/ginger/cinnamon. Today was raspberry/dark cocoa. It's fun to get creative.
Congratulations on the star sticker, Missy! ;)
Went to an untried restaurant last night. It was a bit pricey, so I opted for a bunless cordon bleu burger. It came nicely presented with a little stack of shaved ham topped by a slice of swiss cheese. My cousins and I discussed low carb. It was just heavenly to sit there and not pine for a dessert. Still no cravings, so I must be doing something right. :)
I'm getting really busy at work, but I'm taking it in stride so far.

my beverages of choice are coffee and water.
I have both - more water than coffee, but coffee is more necessary than water - for breakfast.
Coffee for snack.
Water with lunch.
water and coffee afternoon.
water after work and with dinner.
water and coffee after dinner.
I'm doing a bit of struggling with staying on plan lately.
Need to PLAN more to be ON PLAN.
I start my day with coffee, 1.5cups of 1/2 caf.
Then my last cup of 1/2caf, I ice with a touch of cream and splenda.
Then I move to green or decaf tea - iced. I end my day with atleast one 32oz water.
Oh! I wanted to report on my Macaroni Grill experience yesterday.
They have something there called the "Simple Salmon".
Grilled salmon with diced tomatoes on top, served with steamed asparagus and broccoli. I added a caesar salad (allowed myself 6 croutons) and a glass of white wine.
Wonderful! Highly recommend the meal (as long as you IGNORE the unlimited warm bread brought to the table)!

Amy - Your meal sounds wonderful!
Everyone - Thank you for sharing your beverage choices. :-) Some great ideas. :-)
Yesterday & today have been tough emotionally. My mother passed away in 2003 at the age of 49. I am just sad about it. I realize I need to turn my health around. According to my check up - I am considered healthy other than my weight (does that make sense to anyone? I asked the doctor and he said I have time to turn my weight around in order to have optimal health) Anyway... My emotions are a roller coaster and dipped into the dark chocolate..... its interesting how when I get emotional = I eat....
I am concerned about me and my own health plus grieving over the loss. In addition, I am it is getting close to a year since we lost our daughter and I am thinking about that hand in hand with the loss of my mom. Feels like a double whammy today.
I keep thinking that if I get a grasp of my emotional eating, I can get a handle on anything in life. :-)
These are my random thoughts of the day.

(((Feelix)))
it's odd the role emotions play in our lives. My mom died at age 49, too, but over 33 years ago. To this day, though, I'll find myself in a funk of some kind, or feeling I "deserve" some food treat (on a day that has been pretty steady and normal) and then realize ... today was Mom's bd or today was the day she died or ...
and you did get hit with a double whammy!
Some days are going to be better and some are going to be not perfect, but I think recognizing what some of our triggers are is the first step to dealing with emotional eating.

Feelix,
Hold on and hang in. We have been close to losing a son once as we waited almost a week for him to regain consciousness. We both wonder if we would have been able to weather the storm if he had not.
All the best in all you do and in your choices.
Many of the people doing Low Carb IF do so to balance an ED and it seems to work for those that are able to stay with it.
Hot drink, cheese sandwich on LC flatbread, hot wings, strawberries. Definitely short on my fluids and will have more water this evening.

God Bless you. Those anniversaries are so hard on us. Bless you, you have had a double whammy. Hold on, hang on.
Fifteen years ago, I lost my parents 18 months apart and on each day of each anniversary, I try to take off from work and do something completely different. There have been some of those days, I, too, felt like I "deserved" a treat, (off plan, of course).
Favorite drink:
Water, tea, iced or hot sans sweetner or milk. I had a great-grandmother who being British, taught me the the tradional way to drink it, but now, just tea.
On plan today.
Looking forward to a great weekend.
Hugs,
Claudette
ON plan today.

Thank you for the hugs and kind words... I appreciate it.
I have all the excuses of why I eat of plan... emotions just don't help that...
I am wondering at what point do I let go of the excuses, let go of the emotions, let go of the drama and become a confident PP woman.... eating healthy and living healthy... one second at a time. ...
Thank you all for helping me through this journey..............
Dear Feelix...your mom and I would be the same age. I was 49 in 2003.
How old are you? How are you? I am sorry you lost you mother.
You stay on plan one day at a time. You decide what you want in life...what goals...what dreams...what health. YOu write out those dreams. Then you write down why you want them. Then how each day you will take a step toward achieving those goals. Get a picture of someone who you want to look like and cut the head off and then put a picture of your head in it's place. Make a goal/picture board of what you hope to achieve. Look at it every day. Read your goals and reasons every day. Keep a journal and each night write down three things you did toward your goal and three things you can improve on tomorrow to reach your goal. Read that again in the morning.
success happens one day at a time.
take care . You are worth it.
