Good morning! As a nod to firearm deer season in Michigan and being a deer widow myself today, and acknowledging that not all of us hunt game:
What are you hunting today?
I'm hunting an understanding of how PP works for me. Since I've been living it for more than a couple of years, I have come to realize that it is a different program for each of us. I've stopped trying every little thing that works for other people in the belief that I can handle it if they can. For instance, low carb breads and muffins are not on my menu. I can't get caught up in the habit of eating them because it will derail me. I'm not willing to count alchohol carbs, so I rarely drink wine, even though I like it. I've even been cutting back on liquid Splenda sweeteners, which I never thought possible! I read all the posts and pick out what seems to be beneficial to my program--and leave the rest.
My waistband is quite a bit looser than it was last month.
Have a great day, y'all!
I am hunting venison in my freezer. I got an offer last night for 80 more pounds. Whoo hooo/.. I just need to pay for processing..
My daughter is here..her boy friend on the couch downstairs. She came to visit her brother and I will take them to the train this morning. Our house was a zoo last night of relatives and our son and daughter's birth mom and husband. Our daughter was not happy that birth mom was here. She has met her and is ok with her. She just does not want a relationship like our son does. The party was for him though...so she lived through it.
I am cooking sausage and eggs for every one and then we will go out into the cold tundra in the spitting snow and drive to the train.
Happy hunting..

It IS icky today, isn't it? I pulled out the winter coat this morning and about halfway to work, I wondered where my gloves had spent the summer! ;)

I am hunting for better food as well.
On the weekend a representative came by with some grass fed beef and an offer to join a plan supporting local farmers.
It is quite a large organization that provides beef, pork, chicken and lamb all raised by Ontario farmers. They provide wild salmon and other seafood from from BC as well. They provide quite a few dry goods as well but we will exchange those for meat or seafood.
The catch?
You must commit to a year's worth ($2900) and they will provide the freezer, free of charge. You are not committed to renew the next year, but 94% of their customers stay with them.
Checking the price/pound that works out to it seems the same as we spend per pound for meat at the store, although this is guaranteed to be grass fed with no hormones. You are allowed to trade off items for other items at a small penalty (ie kidneys,:D chicken livers, etc.). Everything is flash frozen and the freezer is a Westinghouse which they buy by the 1000's.
We are seriously considering it and will decide this weekend.

Carol, I don't need to hunt for a way to say it---YAAAAA HOOOO for you and your waistband !!!!
Randy, I need to hunt for places to buy grass fed meat too. I have been buying the eggs that are free range, but I need to get serious about the meat now. Seriously, I wonder what quanity of hormones would show up in our bodies just from the "safe" usda appoved foods we eat. I probably don't want to know.

Well, I'm also hunting for help today too. I am going to have a lot of family in for up to a week and need some ideas , if you will share them, of easy meals that will stretch fairly well. I am going to fix chili, veg. soup, and potato soup (for those barbarians among us who eat carbage) :D and one evening we are going to have pizza. I will also have a Thanksgiving meal in there too. But there probably won't be a lot of leftovers. Any other ideas out there??
I need easy as I want to visit with the family, not spend all my time in the kitchen. Many thanks.

Hunt: Motivation. Inspiration. Balance.
The problem: Highs too high (out of proportion) and lows very low.
Examples:
The high: BAH recruiter contact
The low: he didn't call at appointed hour. No contact for a week after.
The high: he reestablished contact
The low: It was very non commital
The high: Recent spate of very carefree weekends with DW.
The low: Just haven't been feeling like doing much of anything at home.
The new low: "You've been quiet lately. Will you be back this weekend?" - DW email to me.
The high: Rotation is almost over.
The low: have to ship out for parts unknown.
The high: mentor knows someone who knows people.
The low: two days, no call back.
The other low: deadline at 2:30 PM to show some actual progress on something.
I dunno. I'm not finding the challenge to be it's usual motivating factor this month. I don't know if it's the particular challenge or challenge fatigue or what, but it's just not moving me. Not that I'm not moving, just it's not contingent on reporting in daily or anything like that.
So, hunting the inspiration to put together something of value in 2.5 hours from now. Hunting the motivation to get started. Hunting the balance to just do it and not be bothered by outcomes or expectations or anything.

well, it turned out I was, literally, hunting racoon this morning:cool:
but other folks removed it.
I don't think I am actively hunting anything - never was much of a hunter,
I have a tendency to "let" things happen to me ... to make decisions by not making decisions or by postponing making decisions until it's too late to have much choice. Psychologically speaking, that way I am not responsible for bad decisions or bad results.
So, I need to hunt, to extend myself, to push myself to try and who cares if I fail.
I'm on track 2 days in a row and that's good:D

Hi, y'all,
Carol, I agree with you.
I've been on PP for a few years and I am still hunting for the right combination that I had in 2005 when I was almost at goal. I, too, read the posts and try different things I think would work for me.
Congratulations on a looser waist band!
Specifically, I am hunting for different snacks as I am tired of the same ones I've been eating.
I have re-done my lunches by taking the previous night's leftovers, which forces me to cook PP items nightly, instead buying from the deli, (like baked chicken) and adding veggies. I am rethinking snack items that I think will be better for me.
After struggling with when I can exercise, (or fit it in my schedule), I have been doing tapes when I get home. First thing, before I do anything else.
I can do the cardio at the gym, but don't always have time to do resistance. The tapes I have been doing are working as I am loosing inches and looking pretty good.
Here is to PP and how great we all are going to look.
I took my son out to a steak house in the next town and ate a terrific filet. We had a great time. Some friends came in and sat down with us and ate with us and then insisted on paying the tab,,,because our son was sacrificing for them. They were so sweet.... what a nice thing to do.

Carol! NICE POST! :D I'm very proud of you girlfriend!! :D
Max...I miss your presence. Sorry your feeling out of sorts....but let's keep a committment that we'll try to hang together till these things pass, okay?! I need your energy! YOU fire ME up!
Hawk...I'm so glad you got to spend time with Jon! Thanks for keeping us updated.
As far as the grass feed meat is concerned, I'm going to look into that myself. I think my husband works with a farmer who is a policeman that raises his own??? We'll see.
I wish I had time right now to spend with you all...but dispite that, I'm learning some very quality information about what food 'feels' like on me that has been a real eye opener. I'm sticking with my "no pop" rule..as I've discovered what allowing that GARBAGE does to me physically. When I allow it, I'm exhausted and feeling alot of nervous tention...without it I noticed that I'm not as achy, and I think better. This is an interesting lesson for me. I must say, I am getting fired up about doing all the right things once again!
I think I'll move this section to my journal...:o
