Don't keep trying to fit in when you were born to stand out!!

The only time my mother fudges on keeping her carbs low is when she is persuaded by the Oprha show or some other person who claims to be a health advocate. Then she buys low carb wheat bread and my father begins to clear his throat every minute and have trouble swallowing. His sugar levels go up.

He and I have the same allergies. So I gave her the pep talk...." You know this PP WOE works at keeping Dads blood sugar at 85. You know he feels better. Don't listen to what everyone else says..You have 7 years proof that this works for you.Dads blood work is phenominal...trust this MOM!!!"

Some times it is hard to go against the flow. You have to give this Protien Power diet a true try by sticking to it for at least 12 weeks, I would say to see the results. If you fall of the wagon every other day, you will not see the results you should get. Don't blame the diet. It does work. Stay in the groove. Plan your menus . Clean out your pantry.

Stand out against the food piramid and you will see changes for the good .

Have a great day boot campers!
I'm taking my son to the airport early this morning. He is traveling to florida to meet with friends before he goes back to Iraq.

Great post, Hawk. I agree. When I finally found my "niche" in PP, I am doing well. I agree, minimum of 12 weeks.

So glad you got to see your son. I will put him on my prayer list since he is returning to Iraq.

Isn't it incredible in the face of all kinds of evidence the establishment still refuses to accept PP WOL?

I am ceretainly standing out in healthcare, as I still get comments, "you better watch your kidneys eating all that protein". They fail to see how good I am looking, not to mention feeling, especially in the face of working my tush off with one person short in our department. My last labs said it all, doc's comment, " great job".

Snacks packed, lunch ready.

Got to run, will check in later.

Great pep talk Hawk. I for one need it as I am having trouble lately with my "focus". For one thing, I start logging in my foods in Fitday, then before the day is over I have decided it would be to much trouble to do the rest of the meals, so I don't log the rest of the day. I would say I have done this 3 out of the last 6 days, perhaps even more.

Sooooo, I am going to begin my Fitday logs and finish them and I am going to post the totals here as I used to do. I seem to need the accountability of putting it down in writing. That will make it stand out for me.

Marvelous start today, Lynn!

Karole, I am the same day with Fitday. In fact, I hate to weigh and measure at all. I'd rather Zen the amounts. That gets me into all kinds of trouble. The trouble is that Fitday takes time that I don't really have. I have to dig to find the food description I want and often have to make it from scratch.

My bs was 138 this morning and I don't know why. My dinner of chicken wings was eaten at 6:30 PM and I didn't have a snack. I wonder if my bs dropped in the night and my liver donated some glucose. If so, it overdid it! The other reason is that I was anticipating a work meeting in which I would have to have all the answers for budget changes. That might have given me some adreneline perhaps.

Carol, I hope you can figure out the problem with the bs. Hopefully, it was the extra stress that caused it to be 138.

Yep, Fitday is time comsuming, but after I used it a while it was easier and faster to use . Those combo foods are the killer, I think--say like pizza toppings. I hate to do those and I do have to guess at the amounts of those items mostly. I just do the best I can. The other day we ate at a chinese restaurant and I watched closely what I ate, but still I don't know what is actually in much of the food. I didn't finish my fitday log that day as I didn't know where to start. But I didn't gain from it, so guess it must have been okay.

Back to Fitday-- I did find out that there are several short cuts-- example: just type in half, for half and half. And cottage for cottage cheese. You may already know that, but I didn't for several months. I thought I had to type in each and every word. I have loaded several of my special lc foods-- like Hood milk, Lindt choc. , flat breads and etc into the custom area. Sure glad they had that section.

Hi , Claudette, so glad your clothes are fitting like you want them too and best of all, your Doc loves your blood work !! That's the way to really be a stand out !!

Great post Hawk. `Really love it.:)

Carol,
If I workout the night before, my fasting blood glucose is always higher in the morning, sometimes approaching the diabetic threshold crossover even though I have eaten nothing since the previous night's dinner. The same happens with strength training, the number goes up several hours afterwards, even though you should have depleted any reserve. I keep a Blood Glucose machine at work now to monitor longer fasts and workouts and see how they relate and to see how PP and IF are working. As long as I keep the carbs low my fasting numbers remain 5.1 to 6.1 (103 -123), with an occasional jump in the morning to 6.3 (127) if I work out with weight later the evening before.

On track today but going to friends for dinner. Broke my fast a little early 18/6 and will likely be a little over for carbs depending on the veggie choice but will be under 50 for the day.

Thanks, Randy. I think I'm going to attribute it to being nerved up. Adrenalin can do it. It's at 112 right now and the meeting's over. We found around $100,000 which went a long way to balance the budget! It's always a hairy meeting, though. :paranoid:

Well, DH is home, so I'm going home for a hug. I miss him when he's gone! There's a music party tonight and I'm taking some of those beef rollups with cheddar cheese spread middles. There's always cheese and sausage and often devilled eggs.

Tomorrow's lunch with friends and another music party. Life is good! :D

Yes I hadn't thought of stress but it definitely has a roll. Hold on Christmas is just around the corner.;).

I was a little concerned this summer as my fasting Blood Glucose had risen a bit even when not following workouts. I have gradually dropped 14 mg/dL through IF (almost 5mg/month).
