Hubby was on coumadin for many years. Peripheral neuropathy started with his right big toe in Dec 06, progressed to both feet, both calves, hands and fingers numb and tingling. Muscle weakness developed. He had been taking 200 mg/day elemental magnesium. After 9 months of worsening of the symptoms, we sought a second opinion. On October 10, The neurologist recommended boosting the magnesium dose to 1000 mg/day for body mass. Hubby is a big guy. Improvement was immediate--within 48 hours the symptoms lessened and most have now gone away completely.

The Drs,. Eades know the power and wonder of magnesium. I'm just verifying it. My husband has his life back again. You have no idea how wonderful this is! Go to PPLP or PP and read again the wonders of magnesium...and the form in which you need to take it. Watch out for the draining effects from longterm use of "maintenance" drugs.

turns out that coumadin binds with magnesium...and CoQ10.... Since upping the magnesium, he has been instructed to increase the coumadin dosage...big surprise. Theoretically he has A-fib which requires the coumadin.

this is my first post. I just wanted to share the good news about the coumadin and the reversal of the periphperal neuropathy symptoms. Numbness and tingling gone, muscle strength back...all is well!

Wow, I almost missed your post, Muddybucket! Thank you for that reinforcing information on the magnesium. I am already a fan, and a diabetic trying to avoid neuropathy.

Congratulations on your husband's great experience with the magnesium. I am on coumadin for life as well, and I was not aware of this issue. Looks like I might have to get some. Not sure on the COQ10...I also heard that it acts like Vitamin K in the body. More research is required I guess. I've seen people on message boards complain of fatigue, and think it's because of the coumadin. Things like this could be why. Anyhow, thank you for the informative post.
