Hi,

I started Protein Power in 2004 and I lost about 25 lbs. During the fall/winter that year I regained the 25 lbs. In 2005 I lost the 25 lbs again and this fall/winter I regained them. I'm starting to see a pattern. This last time I'm sure it was Thanksgiving and potatoes. That set me off and then I had to have them often. Then since it was Christmas time I baked some cookies and probably ate most of them. I've been playing around with PP since January but not very serious about it. Now I want to get serious and lose that 25 lbs again and see if I can't go beyond it. The first time I lost it I hit a plateau and that discouraged me. But I also think I've got this mind set that won't let me get past 25 lbs. for some reason. I know this plan is not a diet but a way of life and I know that I feel so much better when I'm on it. So I guess I need to quit playing around and get busy. I think I need to re-read the PP books and get all excited about the plan again.

Well I'm glad to be back to this discussion board (I used to lurk on the old eatprotien.com board), there are so many nice and helpful people here.

Looking forward to making friends and losing this darn weight once and for all.

Sandy ;)

Hello Sandy, I'm glad you decided to join in!

You're right, reading the books to remind yourself of why this is such a healthy way to eat is a great way to get started. Another thing that's very helpful is finding recipes and menus that you really enjoy. The recipe section is a good start, of course, but you can also get good ideas from the daily menu threads and the Monitor Monday thread.

I have also been trying to get back on track. I have a friend who's cardiologist recommended South Beach to her so I loaned her my copy of South Beach and Protein Power, highly recommending Protein Power and this board. If I want to inspire her, I have to stay on program, pretty good incentive, right?

Vivian, helping another is one of the best incentives, IMO.

Miss Mousie, one thing to remember...you didn't gain all your weight all at once. You won't lose it all at once, either. I put on 25 pounds on a chemo treatment that incorporated high doses of steriods. I've been able to lose all of those 25 lbs. quickly, but I'm still 25 lbs. higher than I was prior to my diagnosis (unable to exercise as much as I used to.) It will take some effort to get back to 170, but the alternative is staying where I am and not being even remotely healthy. I'll pick trying over just sitting still, and letting things get worse. ;) Welcome in.

Miss Mouse, I definitely understand where you are coming from. I am a firm believer in PP, but I am not a firm follower. I can't seem to ever get my head right where it needs to be to stop the cravings, or at least have the will power to deal with them.

Gaelen, I like your statement about staying where you are and not being even remotely healthy. I have been just sitting still and letting things get worse. I so need to get moving and leave the sugary stuff alone.

Good luck. According to your ticker, it looks like you only have 219,074 lbs. to go. :p

Thanks for your warm welcome. I've always liked this discussion board. Everyone is so nice. I'll try to post often as I know that I need the interaction with other PP'ers. I've been trying some recipies that I got off George Stella's website and food network.com. and they are quite good, so that's given me some encouragment.

Viking Dan, you are too funny. I guess that would be the definition of morbidly obese......or dead . Sadly I need to adjust that ticker, that was my weight last time I weighed and I need to take those 4 lbs. back. But I'm not depressed cuz I'm back on the plan!!! :D

Thanks everyone,

Sandy

Just wanted to drop by and say Hi. Ive been hanging around this site for almost a year and finally decided it was time to share. I have been pping for over a year now ive lost 50lbs and have gotten off bp meds. I did the low fat thing for years and lost weight but always put it back on. Never could i get off my bp meds until about 5 months into this woe. I started lifting hoping to put a little weight back on the right way but at 5'9' and a half and 155 im pretty happy. Just being able to come to this sight and read what you all had to say was very helpful to me and i would like to thank you all very much. Will try and drop in from time to time again thank you for this wonderful site.
