Those words used to be magic for our little dog, Kelso. Isn't it too bad we don't get as excited as our four legged friends do about the idea of taking a walk?

I'd like to invite you to join me for a 6-week Walking Challenge! I am looking at starting this coming Monday, April 24 (this coming weekend is insanely busy for me) with the plan of establishing some great walking habits over the next 6 weeks. This is my little way of trying to get back into the moving and shaking routine.

Anyone who wants to join can establish whatever goals you want to, and we can compare notes and experiences. I'm going to plan over the next couple of days and try to set a total number of miles I think I can walk in 6 weeks. You could use a pedometer and go for number of steps, or go for number of minutes walked. You could do a MapQuest and imagine yourself walking to a neighboring town over the course of 6 weeks!

I'm also going to try to do more walking to and from work, the store, meetings, etc. And like the mail carrier, I'm going to do my best not to let the weather stop me! I have a decent waterproof jacket, and I KNOW I won't melt! And think of the gas I'll save.

Part of my incentive is: I'm leaving for France on June 8! And you've GOT to walk in Europe... it's one of the reasons French women don't get fat.

I'd love to have you join me! Think of the wonderful conversations we'll have on the way!

Great challenge, Stevie - thanks :D! Now that the weather is getting better, I am trying to get back into my walking too. While I do exercise regularly, I always feel better just getting out into the sunshine and fresh air every day. I am going to try my best (barring any more ice & snow) to walk to & from work. This will include walking home & back at lunch time too.

Yes, Ma'am! This I can do... and THIS is just the motivation I need... I will get in at least 3 3 mile walks, and the ULTIMATE would be to get in 5 3 mile walks! (Like you, Stevie, it's getting BUSIER and BUSIER as the end of school closes in, but I don't want that to be my excuse!)

I'll join in! Not only is walking one of the few doable moving exercises for me (getting back into my weight training, too, yay!) but the sunshine (LA, remember?) and the motion help keep my depression in check. If nothing else, I can start with the distance I'm going now and work from there.

Great idea!

You love to have me join you in France? Okay that sounds great!!!!:D

You are so wise to get those muscles in the legs ready Stevie, walking and walking you will certainly do. I will join in, not sure how I am going to do measure it all but will think about it and get back!

I can help you carry your luggage, Stevie!

I think I'm going to go for minutes rather than miles. Twenty minutes a day, five days a week should be doable. At first, I'll be going slow, so that will keep me from getting the bit in my teeth and taking off.

Hi, Stevie,
You are so right, you do alot of walking in Europe!
I'd like to join your challenge.
This month has been nothing but work,(10-14 hr/days,5days/week) so, I do alot of walking at work, however, I need to sunshine and outdoors to make me feel great.
Rather than miles, I'd like to commit to at least 20 minutes,3 x week, outdoors.

Hugs,
Claudette
