Someone has probably thought of this already, but here goes...

I'm wondering if someone has tried a coffee/creamer/chocolate protein powder mix of some sort served either with cold coffee or hot?

Recipes before I start experimenting?

Have you looked through the shakes/smoothies recipes? You might see something there along those lines. I know there are some that involve coffee and/or chocolate.

saw a cinnamon hazelnut recipe that was sorta close....but it called for yogurt.

I'm thinking of trying:

1-scoop of chocolate whey protein powder
6-ounces of cold coffee
and some half/half (not sure how much)

shaken and poured over ice with maybe some whipped cream on top

That's what I did ...only instead of half n half I would used powdered milk, but that's because it was transportable.

I've done it cold with vanilla powder and powdered cocoa. Cream rather than non-dairy creamer. Cinnamon and davinci sf sweetener added to counteract the cocoa powder. The issue for me is getting it cold enough, so I freeze leftover breakfast coffee to add to the blender.

I believe Gaelen's got a mocha recipe in this section somewhere.

I never thought of making a hot protein powder drink. Has anyone got an opinion? I usually add Carlson's and lecithin, which probably would not like heat. Hot cod liver oil doesn't sound that wonderful anyway, does it?

For a while, I was doing Vanilla flavored whey/cassein mix that I hated the flavor of (very chemical vanilla) as an add to hot coffee. It coagulated into some chunks in the hotness. I wouldn't add fish oil to hot coffee. Seems like a fast route to undoing the magic of the fish oil. The protein, not so much.

I wound up stealing some ice from the cafeteria, blending the coffee with the ice, then reblending with the protein powder and any flavoring (really didn't like the flavor of the powder). Was like a homeless man's frappa, but very drinkable. Protein powder, at least this one, didn't really like HOT beverage.

I bring a coffee/protein powder to work everyday. Our office provides free Alta Dena half & half in the community 'fridge.

I mix 3-4 oz of half & half (about 3-4 carbs total) with the home-made powder, which consists of: a teaspoon (or so) of instant coffee, a pinch of stevia, a scoop of vanilla whey protein (1 carb per scoop) and about a 1/4 teaspon of potassium chloride.

The end result tastes a lot like melted Haagen Daaz coffee ice-cream (which I used to love having as a treat). The total carb count is about 5 carbs.

I usually start my day off with this same shake as well. Instead of a standard coffee, I have this proteinified version. :) The second shake usually comes into play at about 4:00 PM ... when I hit my afternoon slump.

I make a coffee-flavored shake as follows:

1.75 c cold water (that would be ~14 fl oz)
1.0 - 1.5 scoops of whey protein powder (could be plain or vanilla-flavored)
A shot (or two--you decide) espresso
0.25 tsp xanthan gum (if you want on the thicker side)

Oh,by the way, it needs to be sweetened. I use about 10 drops of Sweetzfree. Sounds like a lot and you may opt for less, but we Cubans like our coffee sweet.

I'm a coffee hound so thanks for the ideas. I make a latte daily at home.

I've tried Galen's recipe and wasn't crazy about it.

I have done this in the past, only ran it though my magic bullet and made a LC high protein Mocha Frappacino and it was good!! :)
