At the recent Nutrition and Metabolism conference, Jimmy Moore nobbled as many of the great and good as he could :). Here's part one (http://www.thelivinlowcarbshow.com/new-drs-mike-and-mary-dan-eades-interview-part-1-episode-133/) of his interview with the Drs Eades.

A couple of interesting things came up. One was that he asked them about the book they're just finishing, on middle aged middles. During that discussion they mentioned that they now feel a protein intake of 1g per pound of lean body mass is a good idea, particularly as you get older and your body processes the protein less efficiently.

They also talked about Slow Burn, how it differs from less intense weight lifting, and just how hard you should be working when you do it .

1g/lb of LBM. Interesting.
Previously, you'd be training for the Olympics and not getting that volume of protein. .9g, plus .1g if you were 40% overweight (I guess you could be training for Olympic bowling like that... is bowling even in the Olympics?)

Very interesting. Would take my protein recommendation from 125g to 175g. I do the 175g pretty much every day anyway (except today, but that's different). The spacing would be hard though. At 175g/3, we're talking 58g minimum for the meal zones. Current breakfast is about 40g. Lunch just touches that. Dinner is not a problem, generally (DF nights would require more protein to the mix, but otherwise just make sure I eat steaks and chops of sufficient size). But the breakfast.

Gonna work through something here:
58g
-35g (shake)
= 23g

I could add a shake (21g) and continue with almonds (5-7g).

I could go with mini meals of a shake and cottage cheese or something (hey now). Yeah. I can see this working. No, I can see working this. Now, will it blend? (http://willitblend.com) That is the question.

Thanks for posting this, Mitra! Hmmm - I've definitely got the protein covered with some to spare  ;)!

Part 2 (http://livinlavidalocarb.blogspot.com/2008/05/livin-la-vida-low-carb-show-episode-134.html) is up now. They touch on Dean Ornish, Anthony Colpo and Intermittent fasting! (Dean Ornish is wrong, Anthony Colpo is right but defensive, IF suits some people.)
