I am new to this board but not to LC living. About a year ago, in the middle of some huge health issues I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Not knowing where to turn I turned to the internet and through information gathered I carved out my own LC plan customized just to me and my needs. A couple of my heroes were the DRS Eadan and their cooking series on PBS Low-Carb Cookworx. I used to watch their show almost daily at 3:30am as I pounded out my exercises. I guess even though I do not follow PP to the letter it is most definitely part of the foundation that has lead me to here and where I am at healthwise.
One year latter, I am down 75 lbs, my blood glucose #'s have gone from a high reading of 500 to the normal readings I enjoy now. I control my diabetes with diet and exercise and I no longer need to take the metformin medication that I once did. My overall health is excellent and I owe it all to a LC way of life.
But as most of you all know this is not a temporary thing....it is a life long commitment. And to that end, I offer the reasoning that I am here, I hope we can learn from each other and share what we have learned on our seperate paths taken to this point and each of us walking away armed with a little more information, knowledge and experience. If there is ever anything I can help you with.....Please don't hesitate ....feel free to ask.

I hope to make some new friends here. I do know one of your moderators already as our LC paths have crossed already.....So ....Hi SherryJ :p I decided to stop by.

Hi Kevin, Welcome!!

As a newbie to this woe, (three weeks now) I'm very appreciative of hearing anyone's success and reasons for why they adopted this as their way of life. As I have quite a few reasons why I must myself, and it's very encouraging to hear why others did! Congratulations!

I'm thankful for this board of experienced....life'rs...:D as I need all the help and advise I can get, and thankfully, they've been kind and supportive of me while they watch me SPRING into action!!! lol  :D  :D

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!

I have a slightly more detailed account on my web site if anybody cares to read it. It is in the recipe section under "My LC Motivation".

And Thank you all for the warm welcome.
