This gist is that pigs on an 85% fat, zero carb diet lost 25% of the ingested calories (via feces) vs. 7% for pigs on a mixed diet. Granted we're not pigs. Interesting nonetheless.

Speak for yourself.

They didn't talk (at least in the abstract) about the weight of the pigs. You go with a mixed grain diet for pigs to grow them, whereas in the wild, lean pigs would probably eat very little grain.

Thanks for the link.

We may not be pigs, but we are very closely linked. Pig parts are used for humans. I have worked with hogs, and their eyes look just like ours. It is very scary to see a sick and hurting hog. The eyes tell the story of how they feel.

Thanks for the link.

Very interesting, and published in 1984, but that is the first I've heard of it.

It seems to predict a metabolic advantage of HF vLC diets, which is what I have been most successful on. I easily "lose" 300-500 calories of extra fat each day when I keep my fat at ~70% and carbs at ~5%.

For awhile I was eating boiled pig skin as per Jan Kwasniewski's suggestions. Grew to like it a lot. The texture is kind of like pasta once you stop thinking about what it is.

Only disturbing thing about it is you always get a piece of skin with the pig's sku on it. :O
