Raspberry Teazer

(Eat Tea Cookbook) (http://teatimeworldwide.com/newsstand/eat_tea_cookbook.html)

2 tsp Raspberry Herbal tea leaves or other fruit tea
1 tbsp (equivalent) sugar substitute, either powdered or liquid (or your preference for sweetness)
8 ounces seltzer or sparkling water
2 thin lemon slices

Bring ½ cup of water just to a boil, stir in the raspberry tea and sugar substitute, and steep for 3 to 4 minutes. Strain and refrigerate. When cool divide the tea between 2 tall glasses, add ice, and pour in 4 ounces of seltzer or sparkling water. Add a lemon slice to each glass and serve.

1T sugar (even for 2 small servings) doesn't look like a low carb drink to me. Perhaps you could suggest the no-sugar equivalent and any preparation adjustments in these recipes?

You are most correct. However, I would read "artificial sweetener to equal" whenever sugar was called for, and didn't pick up on the difference.

I've since edited the post to accommodate that. Thank you for noticing.

I concocted this drink this weekend, when the temps hit 95 degrees...I was vamping on the old cold-brewed sun tea method, but for one. ;)

Lemon-Ginger Iced Green Tea
16 oz. water, room temperature
3 tea bags (2 organic green tea, 1 organic ginger herb tea)
2 wedges fresh lemon (about 1/8th of a lemon, or about 1 teaspoon lemon juice)

Pour the water over the three teabags in a 16+ ounce container. On the road, I have made this kind of thalf-liter bottle of water--just kind of push the tea bags into the bottle, cap it and let it set.

Let the tea sit until the water colors, usually about an hour. The longer you cold-brew, the stronger the tea will taste. Some herbal teas get bitter if left too long in the brewing process, so brew to taste. If you refrigerate the bottle after loading it with the tea bags, you can leave the tea bags in the water for 2-3 hours total.

To serve, squeeze the lemon wedges into the finished tea, and drop them into the bottle or glass. Swirl the tea to mix the flavors of the teas and the lemon. Drink ice cold. You can substitute lime or orange slices if you don't like lemon. Enjoy!

I've also made this with two green teabags and one peppermint tea bag, but I thought it was too minty. A sprig of fresh mint in the lemon-ginger tea was a lot better. You can also use regular black tea, any type of herb tea, tea leaves in any infuser that fits into your bottle or jar, etc. I've made this in a quart Mason jar, too, when using an infuser that was too wide for the bottle top.

Carb count...less than 1g for the lemon juice. Sweeten if you like, but I prefer my tea unsweetened.

just invented this and it works pretty well! I wanted something to take with me that I could add to tequila and water so I could have a margarita at my favorite mexican place.

TAKE ALONG INSTANT MARGARTIA MIX
makes about 16-20 servings depending on your taste

Mix together well
1 packet lemon lime kool-aid ( the unsweetened kind of course)
2 packets lemonade flavor kool-aid
1 tsp dried orage peel
60 packets splenda or to taste

add about 1 1/2 tsp to glass of ice water, add shot of tequila of choice, and sqeeze in some fresh lime.

pretty darn close! interesting idea --if you like flavored margaritas you could use raspberry or melon koolaid in place of the lemon-lime ( I would keep the lemonade flavor--it adds the tartness you need)

I have some tiny zipper plastic bags used for jewelry findings . I put a serving of it in one, take it in my purse and order a glass of ice water, a shot of tequila and several lime wedges and mix it up on the spot. works for me!
