Commitment leads to action. Action brings your dream closer.
Marcia Wieder

Is your dream feeling any closer? Is your action carrying you toward your dream? If not, how can you correct your course? Maybe your dream has changed since you began Protein Power? Maybe your action has?

My first dream was simply to not stand out in a crowd as “the fat one”. The dream met me halfway because lots of people my age have middle-age spread. When diet wasn’t getting me there fast enough, I was lucky enough to fall into a doable exercise routine. I LOVE resistance! I’m even learning to like cardio.

Breakfast will be a protein shake. Lunch will be a burger on bread made out of processed cheese in the microwave. Dinner will be leftover chicken and possibly a salad.

Okay! Bread made from cheese.. please explain!!!

So I will be having some of that delish casserole for bfst.. lunch will be a burger.. and dinner will be whatever I pick up at the store.. grocery day today.... so I'm off to check the sale papers online......

Does anyone else find that the weight within the last 20 lbs takes a looong time to get off? I've not been losing lbs, but I *feel* thinner, clothes don't really fit any different, but it just feels different.... well, maybe a bit different, my back doesn't seem as flabby. Could this be b/c the woe establishes more lean muscle? (Actually, I've noticed my ww friend says she is losing wt, but I personally think she looks the same or larger - due to loss of lean muscle?) Any thoughts?

Baby simple, and I've only just begun using it. Place the square of processed cheese (American, swiss, whatever) on a larger square of parchment paper and microwave for one minute. It gets all bubbly, and when it's cool it's kind of crunchy. The recipe originally said waxed paper, but I found it stuck. My nukerowave is lower power, so I use more than a minute. Great for cold sandwiches and it even works for warm ones.

Cheese Bread sounds good!

I made quiche again today. I made the crust out of bacon and then mixed 1 cup heavy whipping cream and 6 eggs together. Pour it on the bacon crust. sprinkle 1/2 cup of sharp cheese on top. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Yummy!

I wonder if cream cheese would work... Feels like a revoloopsie roll coming on there.

I don't buy American Cheese (affront to all I hold sacred).

The last X lbs are always hard. Think of it like this. When you start, you have a lot of weight to lose. It comes off with relative ease. But, in terms of percentages, you aren't actually losing that much. Maybe 1-2% of your bodyweight. And so it is, along the entire course of the program. You continue to lose small percentages of what you have left to lose.

Hi, I seemed to have taken a day off yesterday , I was gone all day and then went to line dancing practice and didn't do a thing in fit day or here either. Will get back at it today as I am home all day unless something happens that changes things--like yesterday.

Creamcheese won't work as bread. Sorry, it remains mushy - already tried. But Parmeggiano works great and is tangy and crispy when cool. You can use it as crackers.

Actually I wouldn't mind losing 1-2% weight while still eating divinely. It is hard to believe that I can eat whole eggs, ghee, cream etc and still have bloodwork perfect and lose weight. Since I began PP a couple of days ago I think that I've made some mistakes but I will eventually get it straight.

Works with eggs and a thickener:

Eventually, I will make these. Maybe this weekend. But for now, I have chili and zinfandel stew for quick meals. No need for handmeals at present. But, maybe, just maybe, when I was really rocking the plan, I was working ahead of the plan.

Which brings me back to time management. When I worked in television back in the late 90's, we used to have these daily sheets detailing production needs and call times. A call sheet. We got into the habit of working off of the day after tomorrow's call sheet, so as to always be ready ahead of the day we needed things for. Two days ahead. Gave you the operating room in a flaky world to have an extra day to fix things that weren't going to work.

I am rambling. But the idea is sane. Plan two days ahead. You will be amazed at how well this eliminates surprises and problems.

I don't buy American Cheese (affront to all I hold sacred).I know, Max. Mea culpa!

But Parmeggiano works great and is tangy and crispy when cool. You can use it as crackers. True, and now I'm wondering how it would work for quiche crust, prebaked! Do you think it would soften up too much?
It is hard to believe that I can eat whole eggs, ghee, cream etc and still have bloodwork perfect and lose weight.Oh yeah! :)

Got my shoulder to the wheel today, and I'm making progress. Not much time to check the board, though. A big hello to everyone!

Just FYI: ricotta cheese explodes.

:)

I am *sick* ... I was sick yesterday, too, but not so bad. I have a slight sore throat, but my body is entirely run down. I slept a lot yesterday, went over to the man's house, couldn't get out of bed this morning, finally left, did some work, and OH I had huge cravings for cookies. Then I remembered that we were watching the food network before bed and the dude was baking cookies.... how evil! I love to bake, too :(

sorry... I just feel sooo dizzy :(

I have to go to my parents' house tonight. It turns out that my bf's mother is dying and he didn't tell me, thisis what's been bugging him. So I am helping him out this week by driving her to her dr's appointments so he can go to work a few days. I feel really bad about being angry with him, but I didn't know.. he didn't tell me.

So far I have not eaten any cookies today, just low carb veggie burgers and cheese and a LC pb sandwich (1 slice LC bread and LC peanut butter).

He told me a while ago that she was going in for a biopsy, but he never elaborated or told me how bad it was. He has a lot of issues with his mother and he likes to think that everything is ok, no matter how bad it is, so I think by telling me, it sort of made it real, but we had a really intimate discussion last night about this. I asked him 3 times how she was doing, and every time he said, "fine," until the 4th time, when he divulged what was going on. He's been driving out to bring her to dr's appointments every day, and he asked me to take her if I could, and I'm not doing anything so I agreed. I was going to go out there with him this weekend, but I decided not to because he is going to slaughter one of her cows and get a freezer to put it in (after he brings it to the butcher). All of the other cows (all grass fed) are going to a feed lot :( At least we'll have high quality beef for a while, but I don't think I could stand to be around during the slaughter--I'm a city girl.

(((Amy))) Hope you sleep well!

Sam, I'm glad the air has cleared and I'm sorry about his mother.

Karole, like you, I can't believe we're almost halfway through January! Where has it gone? One day at a time, I can do anything.

Feelix, every once in a while I want some apple or some banana. Neither one are low carb enough for me to have a whole one. We always have apples and I'll grab a couple of slices from the Geezer's or cut one in half. He likes Fujis and they're very good. I don't buy bananas, but if they're here, I'll take about a third of a small one. I love them.

I'm taking advantage of a slow night and heading for bed. See you tomorrow!

What a long cold day, the week has been flying by but today seemed to last forever.

Food in: Breakfast, 2 hb eggs
Lunch: spinach salad with bacon/havarti/tomatoes with caesar dressing
dinner: mushroom and bacon omelette

snack: 1/2 beef sausage

No exercise today, I was exhausted from our dance practice last night. We are performing on Saturday night and I am nervous as can be.:o:o:o

Right now I am busy sewing myself a slip to go under my UKRAINAIN dance costume.

Hope everyone gets a good sleep tonight (((Amy))). I surely need it as well. The weather is so draining. Since Christmas we have only had one day that has been above -20 degrees Celcius!!!Today with the wind chill it was -45 :eek: and yes they did not, I repeat they did not cancel school. I should say they didn't cancel the buses...............our schools never close. So I would have had to go to work anyway, but I could have got alot done!

I have the feeling that Parm for the crust would leak more than get soft, though it would soften up so me too. It would also be tough to cut...will give it a try though in a muffin tin.

The additions to cream cheese would do it. Thanks so much!

Waiting for the Challenges day 15 to write menu for today. Good morning guys!

Checking in before I turn in for the night.

Today was a town day, ate my meals early in the day. Had some rolled up roast beef with swiss cheese for breakfast, half of an atkins bar and also a few almonds for snack and lunch/dinner was a huge salad with shrimp, egg, swiss, bacon bits, tomato and avocado. Got my water and supps in. Think I'm going to have to start exercising soon, just to relieve some of the extra energy that's finally kicking in. I'm feeling a bit tiggerish and I wouldn't want to accidentally bounce someone who didn't want to be bounced.

Totals: 105g protein, 19g ECC, 92g fat 1371 cal

Off to bed if I can turn off my brain.

What are DREMFIELDS? In Italy we have so few of the things you all mention if it isn't in the fresh department. For example, we don't have stevia. Will buy some when visit my Mom in June.

Dreamfields is a brand of pasta that uses some technology the company says vastly reduces the effective carbohydrate count. Among those here who've tried it and measured their blood sugar response, the extent of the effect seems to vary quite a lot. I believe it's also sensitive to how much it's cooked - it needs to stay al dente for the reduced carb effect to work. I've never tried it, so maybe someone who has will have more info later.
