Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome.
Samuel Johnson

Now, me, I’m a recovering perfectionist. When I was afraid of failure, I could find things that weren’t just right, giving me a reason not to start. Desperation trumps perfectionism, though. That first step is a doozy, then we find out that we’re free!

When I’m playing music with friends, I never get hungry, never think of food. I’ve got a jam tonight!

Breakfast will be a mango/ginger/cinnamon protein shake. Lunch will be a salad, with meat from home. Dinner will be warmed-up beef and vegetables. My usual snack food is mixed nuts (walnuts, almonds, macadamias) and Lindt 85%.

Happy Friday, everyone! :)

Happy Friday to you, too, Carol.

Dinner here will be sausages, because for some reason we always have sausages on Friday. It's how my husband knows it's the start of the weekend :). Breakfast was Greek yoghurt with blackcurrants. I'm not sure about lunch yet.

I'm now down three pounds from my post-Christmas high - one pound more than before. I think the talk about calories, and Dr Mike's "2nd Time" blogs have helped me just to be more aware of how a bit extra here and there adds up.

How true, how true...incredible how we can find excuses for everything. Perfectionists unite! Used to be that way even about the house but with two dogs, 2 cats and a DH who all seem to think that the mud outdoors looks great on floors...

Today is a chilly day. Hate to say cold when I know that you all will laugh. We're at 8°C when you all have -29°F but to each his own cold.

Greek yoghurt for breakfast? Didn't know that it could be part of a lowcarb meal. Thought yoghurt was a fairly high carb product. Will have to check that out in the ECC book. Blackcurrants! ENVIOUS me. We don't get those ever. Only white and red when fresh.

Those shakes sound neat. Mango? Isn't that really high ECC? So many questions...gives you all a chance to show off your knowledge:D

Breakfast was oopsie and piece of ham. Made them this time in a silicon mold for 6 cupcakes. Added 2 scoops of whey protein powder and 1 tbsp of flax seed meal. They were superb.
Lunch my favorite paleo bone munching. Had 1/4 turkey carcass left so I just heated it up and munched away. Also had 2 cups of mixed salad greens and our olive oil.
Dinner? Who knows. Have 1 more piece of carcass and a piece of wild boar leggie left over from lunch but I'm not sure they'll last till dinner.

Friday is a wonderful day...weekend coming up and that means relaxation!

Puddin, Greek yoghurt is about 10% fat - much higher than most. 100g has 6g protein, 4g carb, 10g fat. Actually, my breakfast was a bit low in protein to be ideal for PP (I'll catch up later in the day). I'd have had better numbers if I'd used cottage cheese or ricotta instead of Greek yoghurt. I bought the blackcurrants at the farmers market last summer and bottled them. They have a really strong, tangy flavour, and are much more robust in flavour than the red or white ones.

Morning all... just popping in to say hi really. I've had a rough couple of days. Either ranging from barely eating (and having a migraine most of the day) or eating too much (and of the wrong thing). On the plus side, I've lost 11 pounds since the beginning of the month, even with all of my slip-ups. Didn't make my 23/30 goal though :(

Enjoying a cuppa tea right now, breakfast will be a shake. Lunch, not fully sure yet, either tuna or a wrap (have to see how much meat I have left), dinner is "Baton Rouge" chicken.

Will touch base later.

hi everyone, I am still hanging in, 11 lbs lost so far, I so want to keep doing this. I like how I eat. I had bought some sausage but didnt like it, it upset my stomach and was very fatty, so I threw the rest of it out. I will see if I can find my usual sausage which has less fat. I did find 2 sirloin steaks half price, and I seared them then simmered them to soften them up, then cut the meat up. its delicious. i ate some for breakfast with cauli and brocc.
havent thought about lunch or dinner, but I have more of that steak so I might make a casserole with some of it.
I have a yogurt that is 7 carb per serving, its delicious. I had one with breakfast.

Good morning, all. :)

Great quote today, Carol. I'm a born and bred perfectionist. I remember early in my work career making a pretty bit mistake and being called into the manager's office. Thankfully, she was a great manager who said, "Learn from it, but also remember that only people who are actually working make mistakes. So keep up the good work." I've always remembered that and when I became the boss would remind folks that only those who were actually doing something made mistakes.

Today's plan:
Brekkie Cottage cheese/LC yogurt/berries/flax meal
Lunch: Baked chicken, zucchini medley, clementines
Supper: Wild hog ham w/ LC gravy, tossed salad, LC veggie mix
Snacks: Chocoperfection, apple, cheese, wine
I'm aiming for 1600-1700 calories, but it sure is hard getting there as I've been below 1500 for the last couple of years. (can you say "slow metabolism?")

Carol I love it, I have never heard "recovering perfectionist", what a wonderful phrase for us all!

I am ready to hit the road, will only have a coffee this AM until lunch. But will be having lunch out so I can choose something proteiny and delish. Then back home where you know I will be in line! I will get on the scale tomorrow and see where the ticker stops and starts!

Have a great day everyone!

Hey everybody. Dealing with a headache since last night, so didn't get my counts in for yesterday.. though I know I went way over when I found a pk of blueberries on sale and dh and I finished them off last night. I made a new recipie last night, and it was soup, so between the headache and fatigue, I just couldnt get around to measuring how much soup there was to figure out how many servings, to put it into fitday. Oh well, better planning today. (If this HA will ever go away) Quiche and coffee for bfst. Lunch will be leftover soup and dinner TBD.

What to say.
Perfection is a goal that will never be met without a lot of failure and incomplete success first. So, the only road to perfect is a lot of attempts. That's some growth mindset talk. The fixed mindset thinks perfection is natural. We should work on being more growth oriented if we're not there already.

Slow steady day at work with the conference call of doom in about 2 hours. I am so looking forward to it.

Hi, didn't get to post yesterday as I was running around again and had no time to get on the puder much. The car needed an oil change and we needed groceries and etc so that took most of the day. Then I had to fix supper , eat it and run out to my line dancing class. By the time I got home it was the couch, nothing but the couch for me.

BC I read your falling britches story and got a big kick out of it. But also how great that your clothing is that loose now. Good for you.

I already did my exercise for the day and reported to Shadow so I am feeling very virtuous. Love to get that out of the way early.

Will check in to see what everyone is up to later on today. Have a good one.

Those shakes sound neat. Mango? Isn't that really high ECC? Puddin, I can go about ten ecc with the frozen fruit because my whey protein is zero carbs. It's usually just enough for some flavor and it chills the rest of the drink. I do have to allow for the cream if I use it. Blueberries are the most bang for the buck, I think, but thinner. Strawberries contain more ice and do a good job of chilling.

Hi, everybody! I can't stay long today, but I'll make up for it this weekend.

BC, I see that you found your Whoo Hoo! :D

Happy anniversary, Billie and Gabe!

Today's mine, too, and I've got flowers on my desk. :)

Later!

Good afternoon everyone just thought i might check in before heading to the gym. Need to get some cooking done today just not sure what to cook yet. Took chicken out this am so i guess thats a start i always like to get about 7 or 8 meals ahead that always seems to work best for me anyway. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Today so far:
Work work work.
RTD shake.
Chicken from the Chicken Holocaust (http://chicago.metromix.com/restaurants/chicken/chicken-planet-loop/137081/content). It's really called Chicken Planet, but they spatchcock and grill hundreds of chickens a day. And you see them in their storefront from raw to done. Good stuff though, and half a chicken for $5.25. In downtown Chicago. Nice.
Dinner will be pork chop(s). I am thinking of using my new 12" slicing knife to take the monsters down to about half of baking level, so I can wet cook them, maybe in some hard cider. Then finish with the pan sauce. Nice.

We are doing so well with this Basics challenge, how about going on in the same vein with an extra? Sort of a Basics Plus. Each person chooses one or two items from the "other 20%" in addition to the basics?

Ended the day a bit below on calories (1380) but on target with protein and ECC: 82 and 58 respectively. I'd just rather eat fruit than fat right now. Think I'll try the Revol-oopsie rolls tomorrow to make a hamburger. THAT will load on the fat! Have a good night, one and all. :)

Happy anniversary Carol, Gabe, and Billy!!

I have traveled to my parents house. The snow was blowing so hard over the open fields of Iowa that at times I couldn't see the road at all...good thing there were cars around me. I used the tail lights to guide me (and to remind me that it would clear up very soon cause I could still see their lights).
Ugh...

anyway...had a VERY carby supper. I hadn't really had any all day long, then ate my fill tonight. Don't like doing that...can't be good for the scale either . But I stayed within my limits.

Water: 90+oz
Supps: Yep
Exercise: yes, 1.8mile walk in 10degree temps with gusting winds...this was what I looked like after my walk

Pro: 154
Ecc: 45
Fat: 176
Cal: 2215

Okay I can't complain about the weather in these parts anymore, I'll just sound like a whiny baby. It's been grey and hovering around freezing for the last three weeks. But at least the subzero temps haven't hit along with snow and all that. I'll keep holding out for some sunny days to tide me over until spring.

Breakfast today was a shake. Lunch was a revol-oopsie fried egg and bacon sandwich. Dinner was meatballs baked in tomato sauce served over cauliflower and a glass of merlot. Drank my water, took my supps and even went for a walk with hubby this evening.

Had a bout of negative selftalk this morning, the emotional eating posts were timely info for me to peruse. Thanks for the great job you all do at offering words of encouragement and wisdom.

Totals: 83g protein, 36g ECC, 97g fat, 1482 cal approx.
