Do not wait to strike till the iron is hot; but make it hot by striking.
William B. Sprague
Here we go on the last week of January! Now is NOT the time to let up on your efforts! If you’re having trouble, give it a little more push. If you’re doing well, don’t rest on your laurels.

Breakfast is back to protein shake with frozen strawberries and cinnamon. Lunch will be sausage patties. Dinner is to be determined. Plenty of meat in the freezer, though.

Good morning, Carol. Another good quote to get us fired up :).

I'm quite pleased with how thing's are going, but you're right - that's just the time when you can relax a bit too much and start to slide :paranoid:.

Sorry about my weekend hiatus, I may have not posted but I read most of the entries. I wasn't even too far off on the food, but enough to have me feel it this morning.

I used a new protien powder and it caused serious constipation???????? I tried it in the past and thought the same thing but didn't isolate the situation. This time there is no doubt! Therefore I was not feeling great and overdosed on the fruit to up the fibre.

Today will be:
Breakfast: omelette
lunch: tuna salad
dinner: TBA (need to go shopping after school)

Good morning, all. Not only does striking the iron heat it up, but it also magnetizes it. Not sure what that has to do with PP, but certainly an interesting fact.

We have a chance of freezing rain tonight and tomorrow -- certainly hope so as any precipitation will be most welcome.

Brekkie was cottage cheese/yogurt/flax/berries mixture with a bit of heavy cream added in to try and boost calories.
Lunch and supper will be pork chops, salad, LC veggie medley and a clementine (love those little critters!)
In between ChocoPerfection, cheese, apple. I'm laying off the wine as I'm up a pound on weight.

I like the quote Carol! And I feel like I'm back, striking it today!!!

Meals are planned, exercise is scheduled, life is calm again...thank goodness. What's really nice is that it is very comforting to get back to my routine. It wasn't AWFUL being off my routine, I survived, but I love and appreciate that it is COMFORTABLE and I have the DESIRE to get right back to my routine.

Also, the scale showed a new number today...that always feels good. The weight loss is very slow as I get closer to the ultimate goal weight, but I understand that and am patient.

Meals:

7am hot from the oven almond scone (if you haven't tried these, they are such a nice "treat" with coffee)
8am cauli-sausage casserole
11:30am lc lasagna, claussen dill
2:30pm 1oz mixed nuts, iced latte
6pm last of my frozen lc pizza

Pro: 123
Ecc: 35.5
Fat: 148.4
Cal: 1806

Bfst was cottage cheese with truvia. Coffee with truvia and cream. I'm trying something new, going to see if I can cut back on bfst a bit, to try and even out the day. Lunch will be either sausage/cauli casserole, or tilapia. Dinner, probably mexican roast.. ummm... better go get that in the crockpot.

Lisa, you say keep swimming but it continues pouring like it has been since yesterday (wish you guys in Texas would take some - seriously) we'll gonna be needing a big arc.

Striking iron to make it hot...you sure will have to do a lot of striking to get it to the point of being able to work it but that certainly fits into our PP program - exercise and such. The work in a nutrition plan is never too far away - that elephant lurking (or stallion in my case) - that dinner with friends who just don't believe that someone doesn't want even a little smither of lasagne. Sometimes it's all uphill.

Today was a quiet in the house day because of the rain.
Breafast: cottage cheese and egg in microwave, coffee cream
Lunch: sausage and artichokes, 1/2 c. mixed berries eaten frozen like candies
Dinner: caulicauli, chive creamcheese, stracchino(creamy cheese)
snack: maybe prosciutto crudo - itty bitty apple maybe

Not much else to write about today. Guess that the world outside has sort of gone on without me. I feel rather like a bear in winter - hybernation with a good book:D

Carol, tasted that 99% chocolate - awful! Sort of like eating cooking chocolate. That's what I will do with it eventually. My mom is going to mail me a few little packs of TRUVIA so I will make myself something with it and some of that chocolate. The 90% is really wonderful though.

Let's see, you can work, and strike an iron until it's hot, or you can work smarter, and heat the iron with a furnace and then strike it while it's hot. In this case, striking the iron is the diet work. Planning is the furnace. And the iron is you. A touch of planning here and there makes the striking of the iron a lot more efficient and effective. And really, while I enjoy the PP lifestyle, I am more excited to get to maintenance. So, I want to work it efficiently.

The other iron striking related idea here is the idea of set ups. In manufacturing processes, the number and complexity of setups can determine the cost of a product from a variable line more than the inputs and labor. In terms of our iron striking analogy, it is better to heat the iron once, and bang it into shape that it is to heat it, bang it, cool it, heat it, bang it, cool it, heat it bang it, etc. That means that consistency is as important as hitting the damn iron in the first place.

Yesterday was day 24 in a row. I am down 11 lbs since the start of the year. I understand that most of that is fluid. But, all things considered, I am happy to be without that fluid. Today will be day 25 in a row. On plan. Carbs low. Protein adequate. Fat a non concern. Total calories dictated by actual hunger.

Shake is down. And, as we know, breakfast sets up your day for efficiency and compliance.

...that's just the time when you can relax a bit too much and start to slide :paranoid:. If I know this fact, why do I always forget it?:)

This time there is no doubt! Therefore I was not feeling great and overdosed on the fruit to up the fibre.Jackie, do you add fruit to your shake? I can have a salad for lunch and that will take care of it. Everybody's different, though.

Good morning, all. Not only does striking the iron heat it up, but it also magnetizes it. Not sure what that has to do with PP, but certainly an interesting fact. Okay, you've got me there, BC.

Meals are planned, exercise is scheduled, life is calm again...thank goodness. What's really nice is that it is very comforting to get back to my routine. It wasn't AWFUL being off my routine, I survived, but I love and appreciate that it is COMFORTABLE and I have the DESIRE to get right back to my routine.Maybe that's where the "magnetic" part comes in. Our safe routine draws us like a magnet! Congrats on the new scale number, BTW.

Dinner, probably mexican roast.. ummm... better go get that in the crockpot.Lisa, I'd be interested in seeing the recipe for that.

The work in a nutrition plan is never too far away - that elephant lurking (or stallion in my case) - that dinner with friends who just don't believe that someone doesn't want even a little smither of lasagne. Sometimes it's all uphill.Sometimes it makes you want to just put your hands on your hips and tell them to "let it go", doesn't it? Good thing we can come here and associate with like-minded people! Sorry about the 99% chocolate experience, but I know you won't let it go to waste. ;)
Let's see, you can work, and strike an iron until it's hot, or you can work smarter, and heat the iron with a furnace and then strike it while it's hot. In this case, striking the iron is the diet work. Planning is the furnace. Planning is the furnace! What an incredible thought! I agree totally. DH was a blacksmith in his early days and he would heat the iron red-hot before banging on it to make changes in it's structure. The composition of the iron actually changes. Permanently!

I just finished my lunch; breakfast sausage patties topped with feta cheese. I don't know if it tastes good just because it's mega-salty, or if the flavors blend nicely. Maybe a little of both. Lindt and nuts to cool my tongue will follow.

I just got a big burden lifted by sharing it with someone else who knew more about it than I did. Isn't it funny how light you feel after something like that? I carried that darned thing around all weekend! :peeved:

The Mexican roast is super tasty.. and you let it cook till the meat just falls apart... so I will post it in the recipes section. I usually eat it with lc tortillas, like a soft taco. But I also tried it on a salad, with ranch and shredded cheese, that was pretty good too.

Definitely time for me to keep pushing through. Tonight will most likely be another late night, so I thought I'd post my menu now. I'll run it through fitday and post totals later. Breakfast was a fried egg sandwich with lean ham and cheddar cheese on revol-oopsie rolls. Lunch will be a sliced roast pork. Dinner will be chicken fajitas. I need to go gulp some water so I don't get behind on it.

Sun is shining today for the first time in three weeks. I'm going to go bask for few minutes.

BC we are in for an ice storm too and I am dreading it.

Today has been hectic as we got our new great grand daughter this morning at 8 a.m. Mom and babe are doing great so we are thankful for that.

Then dh had to have a med refill so we ran to town to do that and get in some groceries and supplies in case the roads are too bad to get out on for a couple of days.

So it's been run, run, run all day so far. Oh well, makes the day short, thats for sure.

Well, I made it through the day! Went to the gym after work and struggled to get everything in my routine. I even sat and waited ten minutes for a treadmill! My dinner was a hamburger patty and green beans with some provolone and Montreal Steak. I love that seasoning!

Grandma Karole! Congratulations on your new granddaughter! :) I imagine your feet aren't touching the floor right now.

Sara Jane, you sound like you have a good plan.

Lisa, I read your recipe and I think I'll try it. The only ingredient I might not have is the chilies. I usually have an English roast in the freezer and that should do.

Carol - your quotes just keep getting better. You've really been a great leader this month.

Puddin, I wish we could take some of your rain. Last year was the 2nd driest year in the last 25, and the first driest was 2006. Can you say "drought"? Karole, I'm with you on ice storms, but we are so desperate, we'll take anything. I wish it would snow as snow melts into the ground slowly and does a great job of wetting things down.

Amy - great job on your loss. Lisa -- I looked at the Mexican roast recipe -- looks really good. I have a venison roast I might try. Sage -- I tried the revol-oopsie rolls yesterday and ended up with very thin pancakes. And I used cream of tartar to make the whites stiff. I think I'll go back to my flax bread recipe.

I ended the day A-OK. Boosted calories by adding in more fat and ended up with 1580 cal, 93 protein and 42 ECC. But I surely missed my apple. Have a blessed evening, folks.

Just finishing the day and ready for some relaxing time tonight... well, not completely as Billie is in Springfield tonight. Good day today and although I missed my lunchtime, I had a splendid rotisserie chicken breast on a lettuce bed with raspberry vinaigrette and feta cheese. Quite simple, yet yummy!

A funny thing has started to happen (again... it did happen before, years ago); my jeans don't fit quite the way they have been... yep, they're sort of falling but don't worry, not all the way, just enough to let me know that changes are happening and I celebrate that! (C'mon... not THAT... my jeans still stay up!:D)

Have a great night everyone! :)
