Commitment leads to action. Action brings your dream closer.
Marcia Wieder
You are committed. You are taking action. Where are you now? Are you closer to your dream/goal? We’re almost done with our challenge. Did it work for you?
My breakfast will be a mango/ginger protein shake. Lunch will be a big salad with chicken. Dinner looks like something with beef chunks. I’ve got all day to think about it!

Good morning, Carol :).
I'm nearer my goal than I was when I started :D. I gained four pounds over Christmas, and have lost three of them, and am more comfortably back into my usual maintenance range again.
Dinner looks like something with beef chunks for us too. I cooked some a couple of days ago and we had the first installment then, but when I cook beef I generally try to do enough for two or three meals. No 2 is tonight.

One of the biggest challenges today was being able to get into internet from home. Here it is an optional! I have to get my internet guy to see if they're having trouble with the lines again. Teasingly say that in our area ADSL doesn't go uphill.
Action towards the fulfillment of a dream...actually the dream is still about 18 pounds out of sight but PP certainly makes it a lot more pleasant to work toward. On Feb 1 I will be able to say how close I've gotten.
Today meals:
Breakfast only coffee and some cream
Lunch - pork heart and a double portion of those almond scones (AMMY)
Dinner - fish, fennel bulb and salad
Snack - chocolate 20 grams right before bed (last bars I buy though)

well I get a little discouraged when I see how far I have to go...but I am still on plan. weight loss for me has stalled a bit, i am hovering around 12 lbs off and the scales arent moving. but I have been very sedentary these past few days, not walking much or going outside, so I will get back to doing some exercise.
breakfast will be protein shake. lunch is chicken with cauli and brocc.
dinner will be hot dog with lc bread and cheddar cheese.

Good morning, everyone. Frosty one here this morning, but at least the day will be clear, so the sun will do its magic.
Great quote this morning, Carol -- thanks. I like the progression of committment-action-dream. I would say, though that it begins with a dream. A dream of better health for me and a way to manage the diabeastie. Then the follow through of committment-action. And I am getting there. Slowly but surely.
I lost the extra 1-1/2 lbs. I'd picked up the past few days, but will still cut fruit back to one serving today. Will have eggs and bacon for breakfast with flaxmeal bread. Brunswick stew for lunch made with with turkey and rabbit (lots of good veggies there), and probably a reprisal of the stew for supper. In between I'll munch on an apple, cheese and dark chocolate.
Have a great day! :)
Good morning everyone!
Speaking of being closer to your goal...had a visit from the whoosh fairy, and I am happy to report that I have LESS THAN TWENTY POUNDS to lose to be at my goal weight!!!
How wonderful!!!!
I may have 19.5lbs to go, and I may jump back up tomorrow, but for TODAY I have less than 20 to go!
Meals are planned and packed. Exercise is on the docket. GF goes to visit her mother today thru Sunday. I'm happy about that. Because she is unemployed she is anxious for me to race home cause she's bored, which means going to the gym is cut out more often than it should be. And when I go, I feel guilty and go home as soon as I can.
Anyway...the next 4.5days will be all mine...NICE!
6am 1 almond scone
7:30am cau-sausage casserole
11:30am lc lasagna, 1med zucchini
2:30 1/2cup cottage cheese, 2bran crackers, 1 serving turkey pepperoni
6:30pm 6oz ground beef with 1oz cheese, mayo, mustard, 10 grapes
Pro: 153.6
Ecc: 34.5
Fat: 159.7

Congrats on the whoosh fairy Amy, you can send her my way!!!! I am making small movements on the scale (in the right direction ) but I am very impatient!!!!
Breakfast: protein shake with coffee and strawberries
Lunch will be a flat out with lettuce tomato and bacon
Dinner will be chicken breast and something, probably salad.
I did not have to be at school early this morning, but I do have to be at my kidlets school around 11 to do a presentation. I took advantage of being home this morning and rather than doing the laundry that needs to be done:eek: I slept in till 6:45!!!!! (my curling game went to 11:45 last night) and..............I did my boot camp workout video for the first time. LOVE IT!!

Dream - Goal - Brainstorm - Organize - Act.
That is the natural progression. Everything else is odd and uncomfortable for most people. Unnatural. That's why the above is called the Natural Planning Method. I was on about this a couple years ago. If anyone is curious, they can search the archives.
I am closer to my goal. I am closer to my dream. I may not be that close, but as all those Confucian Proverbs say, a thousand mile journey starts with one step (hopefully towards an airport), or the mountain gets moved one pebble at a time (until you develop the power mover), or a city like new york is built one brick at a time (or piece of rebar or pound of concrete or whatever).
To reduce it to the former President's management agenda rating system, I am yellow in status but green in progress.

Hi-ya everyone! Amy!!! YAY!!!! The woosh fairy does it again!
This challenge has DEFINITELY helped me identify problem areas in my eating habits and kept me on track more than once... something about having to tell everyone else about what I shouldn't have eaten keeps me accountable to myself as well.
Bfst is coffee, sausage patties on oopsies. Lunch will probably be leftovers and dinner.. hmm..gotta check the freezer.
Well, I'm so glad the whoosh fairy came last night, cause from 6pm yesterday on I have been DOWN RIGHT HUNGRY!!!
I ate cottage cheese and crackers last night, but then as I was shutting off the light to go to bed I was still hungry.
Now today, I did have breakfast a bit early, but I just had to have 1oz of nuts cause I am just HUNGRY!
Lunch is in about 45 min....sheesh...you'd think I hadn't eaten in DAYS!!

Good quote again. Carol. Health is my main goal these days and I don't have any measureable way of knowing if I'm better off , but I do feel better now that I am watching the carb counts and exercising more than I was in Nov. and Dec. Feeling well and energetic counts for something , huh??
Our day is bright and sunny here, but still very cold. Won't be any melting here. At least the moisture has moved on--now someone else is probably getting it-sorry.
Dh said we got about 5 inches of snow total but the snow plow has already been by so that's good. DD said her hubby couldn't get out to go to work and is taking his blade to try and clear a path to the county road.
I already have most of my exercise in for the day, but hope to do more later on.
Take care and try to stay warm.

Good for you, Janet. And I'm sure being back into your own routine helped.

Puddin, that's great progress!
well I get a little discouraged when I see how far I have to go...but I am still on plan.
If looking ahead is discouraging, Lucille, it might help to make mini-goals. That is what some others do.
A dream of better health for me and a way to manage the diabeastie. Then the follow through of committment-action. And I am getting there. Slowly but surely. Slow is better for keeping it off, anyway. So is the looming of the diabeastie!
Speaking of being closer to your goal...had a visit from the whoosh fairy, and I am happy to report that I have LESS THAN TWENTY POUNDS to lose to be at my goal weight!!! Excellent! Way to go, Amy!

How about "Rome wasn't built in a day"? BTW, the quote was only about committment and action. The dream/goal was understood to precede those. IMHO. You are really inspiring us with your committment and action!

Must be in the air that being hungry thing. Last night I woke up at around 1 and was ravenous. Drank a big glass of water and then went back to sleep, until about an hour later to deposit the glass of water in the appropriate ceramic piece in bathroom...would have been better to eat a piece of that roast turkey.
Belfrey...send out that recipe for Brunswick stew. Got a good hare in the freezer and could probably add a nice piece of boar...
Max, love the idea of the yellow in status and the green in progress! Sometimes I feel the same way...cautious status and rolling forward really well.
LISA, I'm really getting itchy about jumping on the scale...maybe I'll take a peek;) Never seen a whosh fairy before:p

Absolutely, Karole! All the rest comes with it! What's not to like? Glad to hear you've still got electricity! This is one storm that will miss me completely and I don't mind a bit. We only got an inch or two; just enough to mess up the roads that had been quite dry lately.
Had my salad with bacon, chicken, egg and cheese. Balsamic vinegar dressing.
I plan to put the February Challenge up tonight, if anyone's wondering.

Howdy everyone, thought I'd check in before I head to town today. Breakfast was cottage cheese with grape tomatoes, lunch will be a protein shake, dinner will be some meatloaf and green salad. Good to have the track laid so the train doesn't derail. I have definitely made progress towards my dream this month. In early 2007 I began the lc way of eating. I lost about 50 pounds, moving from a high of 236 to about 185. I maintained that loss for the next year and a half. From Halloween to Christmas 2008, I put in my mouth whatever I felt like. Ended up with a 10 pound gain and feeling terrible. I knew I wanted to get back to my protein power lifestyle. I've lost that 10 pounds and am now hovering around 184. I'd like to lose even more now and am enjoying providing the best nutrition that I can for me and for my family. Based on calculations in the first protein power book, I figure my ballpark ideal weight is right around 150. So 34 more pounds to go. I'm trying not to get hung up on my progress or lack of progress and just enjoy caring for my body and getting healthier and stronger.
Ahhhh, the power of nuts!
I ate the nuts at 10:15 and it held me until noon!
I feel much better now...not hungry...at the moment anyway .
My LC lasagna is SOOOOOooooooo wonderful!!

Mmm lc lasangna.. now that's some comfort food there! So do you use dreamfields?
Made some oopsies, only added 1/4 cup of Bobs red mill barn low carb baking mix. Texture was much more biscuty like - made an awesome sausage mcmuffin- ish lunch. And the batch made 15 2.5 inch rolls, so worked out to only 1 carb per roll.
yep, Dreamflields lasagna, no sugar added Hunts sauce, ground beef and turkey, lots of cheese. I have put in ricotta but not this time.
Oh, and mushrooms and onions...
Yes...definitely comfort food!!
My BRAIN is fighting going to the gym, but my MIND wants to read my book....so I'm having a head struggle.
I will just DO what I know I need to DO and go to the gym. I will ride for 20-30min and enjoy my book.
THEN I will go home to my wonderfully empty house!!!! :D

i have managed to whoosh away 2 1/2 lbs. Now you realize I went to Colorado and had a 2 1/2 lb gain, so I really lost 5  You would think the:idea: would come on! But :( I am really needing to get on it !!!
Tonight: Salmon patties on lettuce with a few fresh strawberries for garnish, blue berries and raspberries for dessert. Having company for dinner who is also a low carber so that is way easy!

PS: if I want to put my foto in my profile how do I do it?You have to make it very small and save it to your computer. The instructions are under the "edit avatar" section of your user control panel. I used second option under custom avatar and browsed for it. It might sound sketchy, but I don't know how familiar you are with the computer. Sing out if you want more detail.
Amy, I'm so impressed with your decision to go to the gym before sitting down with your book. I admire your resolve!
Sara Jane, way to go with losing the holiday weight! Good job!
Billie, that sounds delicious!
I've got a pot of soup going for the boys, but I can't eat it, plus it's almost nine and too late for a meal before bed. I'm going to opt for greek yogurt and berries.

My Moses Lake Mama has a saying that I was reminded of tonight. It goes like this: "Sow a thought, reap an act. Sow an act, reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap your destiny." I think it's encouragement for me to keep sowing these acts, until they become habits and then I can lay hold of a healthy destiny for myself.
My immediate destiny is bed, off I go.

It's an old hand-written recipe that calls for squirrel and chicken, but I substitue rabbit -- squirrels don't offer much meat and are harder to dress out. Plus they don't cause as much problems as the rabbits. The latter have been known to decimate my garden in one night. I'll type up the recipe and post it later today along with the LC modifications I make.
Here's hoping you get a visit from the whoosh fairy! :D
