The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving.
Oliver Wendell Holmes

We all have to start somewhere—every day. If you had a good day yesterday, you don’t want to fail to plan today. If yesterday was a struggle, today is a whole new path. There is no auto-pilot. Each new day needs a plan!

Do you have a plan for today?

Breakfast will be a protein shake. Cauli bake for lunch. Dinner will be something from the butcher’s. I’ll stop there after the gym. Maybe pork chops!

Hi, I woke up around 3 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep so I decided to try the puder for a while and here you already had your post for the day up!! You're on the ball, ms Carol.

My plan for the day is to dig into my recipe box and/or cook books and find something new to fix. I like to try new things so it is a good time to do that. I got out to the store yesterday so have several goodies in the way of veggies and fruit.

At 10 a.m. we have to take our taxes over to the cpa so that's no fun, but at least it will be one more of lifes little drugeries (sp) out of the way.

My, on my trip to the grocery store yesterday we saw some of the damage the ice caused--roofs collapsed, barns fallen in, and those little garage thingeys that are so popular have also collapsed in some cases. They say that the insurance companies pay on wind, hail and fire but that unless there is a separate policy the ice damage wasn't covered. I wonder if that is true. Wow. lot of people south of us will certainly be hurting if that is the case, as it was much worse there. We were just on the fringe of it all, here.

My stand on things: I will live the PP life style.

My direction: moving ever downward--not just in weight, but cholesterol, blood pressure and stress as well.

I've always been allergic to static anything so movement in a direction or another is fondamental for me. Stopping to get my bearings is also fondamental because it gives me that reality check so that I can get moving in the 'right' direction again. Funny though, how 'right' very often changes with the situation you're in. Good thought though, Carol. A fixed place to do the reality check and then off you go...

As I said in my journal, today is a sunny warmish day sort of robbed from Spring. Luckily we are having a day of sun so that the swamps can percolate down all that water. Our grove is a swamp at this point and working will be impossible until tomorrow at earliest. Had a great walk this morning and will repeat this afternoon because my appointment was postponed to afternoon. If I park far enough away I can actually get in another 2 km. Not shabby at all.

That ice damage is terrible. We have the same insurance problems with flooding and fire. No separate policies, no refunds. It is really tough to decide what to pay for. My Dad always said that insurance policies are like lottery tickets...

Am working on a new recipe which I will post at the end of the week. Try out something savory this time. Get you all curious and then write it, how's that?

Supplements: yes
Water : 1.5 liters or more
Protein : so far only 50ish
Exercise : yes!!

Guess I should read what else we're supposed to write here. Seems that I forgot something.

Sorry I did not see your thread, I am not sure as how to merge them so can someone do that for me!!!

Have a great day all

Good Morning!!!!

Another busy day ahead. I am grateful for the support I get here, on busy days I can always come here and put things into perspective and evaluate my day.

Breakfast: pumpkin shake with flax
Snack: havarti with ham sausage
LUnch: not sure we are conferencing at the school today and lunch is provided. This is why I am taking the cheese and meat, in case there is nothing I can have. Very unlikey as our division is big in to healthy eating. I am sure there will be something
Dinner: pork roast and broccoli

2 hour dance practice tonight, I don't think I am recovered from all the curling this weekend!!! But clothes are fitting different so there are changes being made, WHOOOOO hooooo!!!

We are moving! I have my gym clothes with me out of town so I am planning on keeping my + part tonight. I love the job but spending way too much time at it, last night I closed down the office at 10 after starting my day at 7. Today it will be the same, BUT I am going to find some time to take care of me!

Dinner last night was a slice of cheese, slliced turkey, sliced tomato. Kind of boring for sure

Today will be, Breakfast not sure...Lunch will be same turkey with same tomato, adding boston lettuce and some celery.

Dinner...no no not the same! (Our office space is very small with kitchen facilities, no oven or cook top, so just trying to stay on protein while I am here and not worry about anything else)

Have a great one...Spring is on the way no matter what Phil said yesterday!

Morning all... put on about 2 pounds from yesterday's mess, but that will be gone quickly I'm sure. Absolutely will be going to the store today, no exceptions!

Breakfast - shake
Lunch - turkey/roast beef wrap and baby carrots
Dinner - salmon patties and pumpkin (the Eades recipe for individual pumpkin pies, but as a veggie not dessert ;) )
Snacks - cheese, tuna, almonds and maybe some Lindt

It's cold again, but VERY sunny, that will help my mood a lot I'm sure.

Great quote, Carol! I will certainly be moving the next few days. Will be leaving in a couple of hours for San Antonio, then up to Austin and Bastrop tomorrow, and home on Thursday. I am taking a few containers of CarbMaster yogurt with me, some nuts and venison jerky. The two friends I will be staying with are cognizant of my eating habits, so I know supper will be PP friendly. I just have to keep away from the trigger carb foods (can anyone say "Long John Silvers" or "Church's Fried Chicken"? :D

If I'm not able to check in, I hope everyone has a great next couple of days. :)

Morning everyone! PUddin, glad you are having a "spring-like" day...we are having a BITTERLY COLD spell again.
It's -7 but with wind chill it's -21...and let me tell you...IT.IS.COLD!!

Meals are planned and packed, exercise is on the docket. Attitude, though, is only in the "being worked on" stage. I turned crabby yesterday, and although I've been successful not ripping into anyone near me, the crab is still there. Just trying to keep my space from everyone until it passes....

7am 2almond scones (found the one with p.butter!)
8am caul-sausage casserole
11:30am 6oz pork chop with cream of asp soup, 1/2box frozen veggies
3pm 3oz turkey, 1claussen dill
5:30pm 2slice lc bread with mayo and tomato slices
7pm 6oz ground beef, 1oz cheese

pro: 159.1
ecc: 43.5
fat: 165
cal: 2028

I'd like to get in MINIMUM 20min on the bike, if not 30.

Do you have a plan for today?
Let's see:
Drink my shake*
Work with Citibank on my access issue.* (unsuccessfully, mostly)
Pound away on Citibank's mistake.
Eat a PP lunch.
Pound away on Citibank's mistake.
Go home late.
Work on the iTunes library.
Eat some leftover steak.
Go to bed.

If I didn't love life so much, I'd have to wonder why I got out of bed today.

They say that the insurance companies pay on wind, hail and fire but that unless there is a separate policy the ice damage wasn't covered. I wonder if that is true. Wow. lot of people south of us will certainly be hurting if that is the case, as it was much worse there. We were just on the fringe of it all, here.

On the other hand, consider the boom for local contractors. It might hurt to rebuild, but you can rebuild better, more responsibly, more expansively, more whateverly, and keep a hurting industry afloat in your region.

I think more novel insurance is going to become the norm as weather patterns change.

We have the same insurance problems with flooding and fire. No separate policies, no refunds. It is really tough to decide what to pay for. My Dad always said that insurance policies are like lottery tickets...
In some cultures, insurance is looked at as gambling. Since the operating math is exactly the same, I can see what they are talking about. Meanwhile, mandatory auto insurance in the US subsidizes body shops, raising prices. And you could probably make an argument that it increases risky driving behavior. None the less, I am still in favor. The alternative is grim.

Hi, I woke up around 3 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep so I decided to try the puder for a while and here you already had your post for the day up!! Yup! I thought it might be nice for the early birds, so we'll see how it goes.

2 hour dance practice tonight, I don't think I am recovered from all the curling this weekend!!! But clothes are fitting different so there are changes being made, WHOOOOO hooooo!!!Tres cool, Jackie! Keep up that movin' and shakin'!

Morning all... put on about 2 pounds from yesterday's mess, but that will be gone quickly I'm sure. Absolutely will be going to the store today, no exceptions!
Way to go, Becca. I hope the sunshine helps!

Billie, I know you'll be doing your best to eat right!

Puddin, can't wait to see your new recipe!

BC, I heard that LJS has something grilled or baked now, probably chicken, but the last time I was there I couldn't eat anything.

Amy, the bike will get rid of the crabbies, if they even stick with you that long! :)

Max, good luck with Citibank! Your plan looks good, especially the steak!

I got a call from headquarters asking me to skip my exercise after work and go out to dinner with him and his sister, who will be in town. :jawDrop: He promised to go to the gym with me tomorrow, which I've been encouraging, so I guess I will. It's a Chinese buffet but it abounds in protein and steamed veggies, so I'll be all right if I can get by the bourbon chicken. :paranoid: I'll report back!

Hi all,

I'm finally feeling more on top of things, and no longer sick. I also found a new technique I'm trying to help with appetite suppression, which I've been doing the last week. I do think it helps. It's from a kind of strange book called the Shangri-La Diet. I'm not sure I buy the science behind it, but it goes well with PP and seems to be working, so I don't really care. I think the fat itself is an appetite suppressant.

It involves taking a tablespoon of oil once a day on an empty stomach. I'm using coconut oil, which I think is good, regardless.

So yesterday was an Atkins bar (I was in a hurry), chicken salad with grapes and pecans, and fruit and nuts for dinner.

I'm currently .4 pounds over a milestone mark, and looking forward to dropping below it once and for all. Now it's off to the gym.

Good luck with the .4#, Susie! I can't see where a dose of coconut oil would hurt. I have a tablespoon of cod liver oil most days. I add it to my shakes and let the spices cover it up.

Fat is definitely an appetite supressant!

Good morning,

At least in my part of the country it's still morning. It's very frosty out but sun is shining so frost will be gone soon. I have a very full day ahead of me so need to get with it.

B - sausage and eggs
L - not sure
D - steak, avocado, cukes (what was planned for yesterday but just wasn't hungry so had yogurt w/chopped walnuts instead.)

Have a great day..... I plan to.

So far so good...
I got up and felt really gross (pms), so I just had coffee and went out the door to class. I taught a really great class, I am covering a 200 student lecture on climate change. When no one responded to me, they got into trouble, and I yelled out spontaneously, EVERYONE WEARING RED, STAND UP NOW!!! Surprisingly, they did, IMMEDIATELY! I made them go to the front of the room and write their answers on the board. Everyone laughed. I acted like a lunatic in general. The class went from falling asleep to very energetic in a second, it was awesome! Next class we will be discussing Obama's energy policy, and I plan to do something similar.

I ate 2 Morningstar Grillers after that at around 10am, then had a snack of some sugar free chocolates, then the a/c kicked on in my office so I left [brrrrr] and went home and ate some cheese and pepperoni for lunch.

I have been eating a lot lately. Just snacking a lot. And feeling bleh. Probably due to pms.

I skipped my workout yesterday because I was going nonstop until 11pm, when the gym was closed. Today I plan to go work out at 4pm, 60 minutes dreadmill and 30 min weights, just in time for Oprah.

Tonight I will have tilapia with crabmeat stuffing, yay!

Oh, some exciting news: I MADE THE LUNA CHIX TEAM! YAY! I am now sponsored, which means that I get Luna Chix bike shorts, jersey, socks, and windbreaker, lots of luna bars and nutrition products (sugary beverages and gu packets--don't worry, I won't eat them!). I also will have some of my race fees covered, which rocks--it's not a lot, but it really helps out, especially since I plan to do something like 30 races this season!

Today I was at an all-day training and the big boss bought lunch...you can guess...PIZZA. Luckily, I knew this was the plan ahead of time, and I knew I couldn't skip out (doesn't look good to ditch when the boss paid for your lunch!) so I packed my lunch, reminded myself that I and only I control what does or does not go into my mouth, and with Dr. Mike's "rider-on-a-crazed-elephant" fixed firmly in my mind, headed off to work...my day (so far) looked like this:

breakfast (I actually woke up hungry for once!): 3 eggs and coffee with some real cream

lunch: salad greens with four ounces of chicken and some french dressing (only 4 carbs for the dressing!)

snack: after I had made sure everybody else had eaten all the pizza they wanted, I went over and snagged two pepperoni slices, pulled the cheese and pepperoni off onto a plate, and threw away the crusts immediately. Then I went back to my seat and ate my "pizza" sloooooowly with a fork and knife. One gal at my table looked at me quizzically and I just said "Wheat- you know- not so good for me." She smiled and nodded and that was that. WHEW! No peer pressure to eat!

I am actually pretty full right now (3:00) but I am making LC chili for DH so I may have some of that a little later. But only if I am hungry.

My little guy got me up at 2 this morning- he was "unsleepy" said he- and so he and I have been up ever since. I know that fatigue often leads to sweets in my world, so I am going to be extra vigilant tonight and go to bed early to boot.

Way to stay ahead of the game TIF !! That's the way I always eat pizza too. Amazingly I eat the same amount of pieces I always did and feel just as satisfied. Plus I feel good that I stayed on my chosen path. (Just as I suspect you do--good job !!)

I am SO impressed, TiF! Way to ride the elephant!

Sharon and Jean, I hope your day went well?

Oh, I got lucky! It looks like dinner will more likely be at my fave Mexican place where I can get a pile of meat and peppers than at the Chinese "hog trough", as we call the all-you-can-eat buffets. Crossing my fingers!

So... after dinner I was serving my kiddos some of the leftover dessert from the Superbowl party we attended on Sunday (DH brought the desserts BACK with him, unbeknownst to me...and that stinker doesn't even EAT sweets!) and...I...licked...the spoon...and then one spoonful more...and then one BIG spoonful more...and then >THUD THUD THUD< the elephant picked up speed and before I knew it he was rampaging through the last slab of cherry crisp.

oy.

BUT I managed to stop the hand-to-mouth momentum, threw the pan under hot running water before I ate ALL of it, and shotgunned the rest of the protein powder shake I had sitting on the counter...and practically RAN out of the kitchen.

I feel like I need to do dietary penance or something. I was doing so well up until about, oh twenty minutes ago. BUT-

a year ago this would have led to a massive binge. I am not going to end up elbow-deep in the Cheerios. I am going to go take a warm bath and get in bed like I was planning to do. Tomorrow is a new day.

Right?

Poking my head in for a few.....

Great news Sam!

And good for you on the pizza Tif and it looks like you handled the dessert thing much better than I would have.

I finally made it to Sam's. Didn't get much and will be going back this weekend for a "normal" trip so that I can get my shopping back in line with the paychecks. But now we have chicken and eggs so we can function for a few days at least.

Of course I just got home and I worked 2 hours late yet again, so the dinner plans are poofed, but will still be on plan for dinner. Will do the seafood/pumpkin tomorrow night instead.

Will be back later with my numbers.

`Hi, have my totals Protein 132 ecc 32 so I am going to have a glass of wine after while I think.

Bad on supps and water so after I leave this puder I am going to go take them with a great big glass of water and get in a couple more before bed time.

Exercise was great. I even did an extra 11 min. on my elliptical as I was cold and used it to warm up.

veggies/fruit: blueberries, cabbage,pizza toppings,celery,grapes so I did get my 5 in.

Good day for the most part.

Sounds like most have had a decent day. Mine was.... thx for asking Carol. Enjoy the Mexican dinner.

TiF.... been there, done that! But good for you for putting the brakes on.

My lunch turned out to be egg salad w/chopped celery in it. For some reason it just seems to be sitting there, even tho' I did some walking. The thought of dinner right now sounds gross. However, will be leaving the house in about an hour and a half and won't be back until 10 or so. Don't want to eat that late. Have only about half my days protein down so will be very short today. Don't know if I'll be able to eat anything or not. I guess an occasional missing the mark isn't a catastrophe.

Have a nice evening.

Final report of the day:

Protein: 169
Carbs: 49
Water: 100
Reading: Chap 4 last night, will read some more tonight
Supplements: took about half of them today, too full from dinner to try to force any down.

Hopped on the scale earlier and I was already weighing less than I did this morning. I figured I would be cuz I felt like I spent most of work walking to/from the restroom. Dumped all the water I added from yesterday so back on track!

Sunny, but cold here!!
I hope you're okay or don't live in the lake effect part of the state. They had video on the news last night, looked pretty bad in the Ill adjacent part of IN.

Congrats. Donate the Luna food to someone who could use it. Then it's benefit all around.

Today I was at an all-day training and the big boss bought lunch...you can guess...PIZZA. Luckily, I knew this was the plan ahead of time, and I knew I couldn't skip out (doesn't look good to ditch when the boss paid for your lunch!)

Well done. You can also tell folks you are working with that you are avoiding grain and sugary stuff to improve your health. When you make this kind of public commitment, it makes the social aspect of eating different a lot easier, and, you might even have some folks help you along with a little friendly reminders when you're thinking about going astray.

So... after dinner I was serving my kiddos some of the leftover dessert from the Superbowl party we attended on Sunday (DH brought the desserts BACK with him, unbeknownst to me...and that stinker doesn't even EAT sweets!) and...I...licked...the spoon...and then one spoonful more...and then one BIG spoonful more...and then >THUD THUD THUD< the elephant picked up speed and before I knew it he was rampaging through the last slab of cherry crisp.
...
I feel like I need to do dietary penance or something. I was doing so well up until about, oh twenty minutes ago. BUT-

Couple things.
1- Way to go on putting down the spoon and not going nuts with this.
2- You need to talk to DH. Especially if you are early in the process. If he's not gonna eat something that's not on your plan (like a cherry crisp), WTF is he bringing it into the house? Does he get what you're up to? DW doesn't do this and consults me on stuff that's off plan she wants to have in the house. Communication with the DX is really really really key.
