Sometimes the best helping hand you can get is a good, firm push.
Joann Thomas
Are you teetering on the brink? All you have to do is take that first step. The rest will fall into place. You don't have to be perfect, just willing!

Good morning! Late start today. Outside temp is around zero and it's colder than a frog in here right now! Breakfast will be a shake with frozen fruit! :jawDrop: and lunch will be a salad, but dinner will be baby back ribs!

Have a good one! :)

Good morning!!! Talking about being on the brink, I already blew my extra for the month. I could not hold off on the scale....................however very good news. The whoosh fairy came. I will try not to be compulsive for the rest of the month!

Today will be:
Breakfast pumpkin shake with flax
lunch: a flat out with lettuce cheese and pull apart pork
dinner will be ham and a vegie, not decided yet.

All is well.

I am needing that firm push, Carole you keep pushing away! Today I have decided to take 5 minutes and write all the things I am grateful for in my life, all that there is to be healthy for, like I don't know them, but I want to post on the refrig or kitchen cabinets as a reminder to me, to always push hard for good health.

Amazing how our attitude changes when that whoosh fairy flies by, isn't it? ;)

At least posting here every day keeps us current.

Quick good morning... I'm so not looking forward to going outside... 22 degrees. At least it's sunny.

Breakfast was a chocolate shake and a cup of tea
AM snack will be cheese
Lunch is salmon patties and baby carrots
PM snack will be tuna, almonds and probably Lindt
Dinner is supposed to be "Crusty Baked Chicken" (which I modify as it's coated in mashed potato flakes) and broccoli.

Got DD1 registered for the SAT next month, hard to believe that in less than a year and a half she will be finished with high school! Where does the time go??

See you folks later!

My a bunch of early birds here already this morning. We have a gloriously sunny day here and they predict several days of a warming trend in our near future so I am pretty giddy with it right now. I do hate winter.

Jackie, congrats on the whoosh fairy visit. I am not weighing in every day either. I think I will do it every Sunday this month.

Keep nudging us Carol (or even get out a little whip like the Shadow shakes at us from time to time) We need to toe the line sometimes and sometimes we need to make that final leap into a healthier life style. You da gal !!

I was sick of eggs for breakfast so I got an old recipe out of the box and made peanut butter and flax meal hot cereal instead. eeeeek breakfast totaled 634 calories and since I am close to my goal weight I want to try to stay around 1800 each day. Oh well, no walnuts today, and maybe not quite as much cheese as usual.

I made a new recipe yesterday too, chicken breast wrapped with a strip of bacon , covered by a mixture of cream of mushroom soup and sour cream, and baked in the oven. I made enough for today too, so now I don't even have to cook this evening. Dh really liked it and he is not much for chicken breast anymore.

Well, I am out of here for now--will check back later to see what everyone is up to.

It's colder than a frog in here right now!

I am on the brink of success. I am pushing myself. Little by little. Yesterday was day 34 in a row, clean clean clean. All fives. Today is 35.

Colder than a frog... that's new to me. I wouldn't think they'd be that cold. Maybe it's a low bar analogy.

Good morning!!! Talking about being on the brink, I already blew my extra for the month. I could not hold off on the scale....................however very good news. The whoosh fairy came. I will try not to be compulsive for the rest of the month!

I know why some people do it, but I have always wondered about the value of this extra. Does it create more anxiety to weigh daily or to not weigh daily? That's really the question we each have to answer. Statistician that I am, I do not like the sampling error of 1/month.

On to me:
I have completed the first of five phases on my travel card project. Chicago is done, first draft. That was the most challenging from an ADHD point of view. Lot of sitting down and doing repetitive tasks. Move on to phases 2 and 3 today.

The plan for today:
Work through phase 2 and get started on assessing phase 3 of the work project.
Lunch.
Move files out of the file cabinet: Shred or store depending on the law (don't you wish you had laws that decided when you should delete all of your work files, emails, whatever you generate at work?)
Go home,
work on iTunes
Eat steak
Tube or sleep.

Carol, you must be getting our cold from the last few days...we're having a HEAT wave...it's TEN degrees here!!! :D

I am SO glad I went to the PT yesterday. We discovered that my hip ball is not staying in my socket and that is why I have been hurting so much!!! I learned some stretches to GET it in place before I try to walk, and they can be done anyway (even though I may look a little silly), but when I left PT yesterday, I was actually PAIN FREE!!! YEAH.
It hurt again that night, but I knew what to do to alievate the pain, and that is all I can do.
My crabs are gone!!! (by that I mean emotions, not little bugs!!!:p)

Nothing but tanning on my schedule today, oh that and work :o. We have been getting sunny days, but it's so cold a person can't enjoy it, so I'm using my last 7 tanning sessions that i bought, oh, maybe 2 years ago. I do it for the uv rays. It helps my attitude so much to be in the "sun". The tan that I eventually get is just an added bonus. :D

7am 2almond scones
8am cauli-sausage casserole
11am chicken caesar salad with 2 eggs, broccoli, almonds
3pm 4oz deli turkey, iced latte
6pm grilled chicken, steamed veggies

hi everyone, well its -20F, -29 C here, and I have had about enough of winter. my poor little dog cant go outside in this cold so he is going stir crazy...
i just ate chicken for bkf. just chicken. i plan on having a protein shake later on.
I plan also on cooking a large lake trout today, that will do quite a few meals.
i am sick and tired of cauliflower and broccoli...so i am taking a break from them and eating sliced tomatoes instead. vegetables are expensive right now so no salad. but the tomatoes werent too badly priced.
i am drying blueberries in my dehydrator. I also canned a lot of butter to use for cooking. I also dried an assortment of veggies to make soup with so I can do that sometime soon.
it is supposed to warm up this weekend, I will be soooooooooooo happy!

Good morning.

Ammy, hope the exercises will get and keep things back in place. Several years ago I dislocated a knee cap so know how painful and annoying something like that can be. Constant pain doesn't do much for one's disposition.

Got my walk in this morning. Later will be picking up a couple of friends to share the day with at my home. Plan on watching a couple of movies with lunch in between. We do this about every other week. Neither one of them drive, one is widowed so gives them an opportunity to get out of their house for awhile. I would hate not being able to drive.

menu
B - bacon, eggs, cottage cheese pancakes
L - southwestern chicken soup, perhaps yogurt w/blueberries
D - Salmon patties, avocado

Looking forward to a pleasant day.

Not to -one up- you guys, but it was a balmy 5 deg this morning when I drove into school, it was 2 when I first got into my car. I can't believe that some of my friends bike commute to work. What is wrong with them????????????

I taught again today--it was awesome, only about 75 people showed up, mostly late, but I got an ovation at the end of class! My goal was to do as little work as possible, so I made it mostly a discussion about Obama's energy policy--they asked all the questions and gave all the answers, I was merely a moderator and I summarized what the policy was.

Went back to the office to work on my stupid proposal. Blegh. Clearly I am not working on it. It is good to be away from home, so I do not have a schmorgas board of food in front of me! I ate sausage for breakfast, I had grillers and almonds for lunch, I plan to have leftover chicken and salad for dinner, and go to the gym at some point.

hey all,

haven't had an awful lot of time to get on here, lately, but I've been here in my mind:rolleyes:
or as here as I've been anywhere in my mind, lately:eek:

On target mostly - 'cos I'm not counting Monday.

today - probably too much eggs, but I was in the mood

breakfast - eggs - omelette
lunch - grilled chicken caesar salad
dinner - hard boiled eggs & bacon

I'll have some almonds as a snack later.

it is cold here, too - about 12 F, windchill makes it -2
went walking anyway :D:D
I just beginning to feel my legs again.

I've had enough snow for the next two years, thank you!
I don't want to see anymore. Or get anymore exercise from shoveling.

I also don't want to hear about any more deaths this year. Too many of them, and we're barely into month 2.

Hey again... Amy, you are totally right about the sunshine, artificial as it may be, improving moods. I've been going for 2 weeks, 2-3x week, and I've noticed a BIG difference in my mood compared to over the first part of winter. I think I'll keep this in mind over the holidays next year.. will help to avoid all that overeating/carby stuff.

Glad you are out of all that pain too! I'm a crab when in pain as well...(and I don't handle the pain very well either)

Hi, everybody! I ended the work day on a high note and then had a section of crock-pot ribs for dinner. Highly overrated. The rest are in the oven with sauce for the boys.

The weather's changing and I just want to wrap up and tip back in my chair. The good part is that it's supposed to be sunny and warmer tomorrow! Yay!

Oh, I need to read that quote this morning, but unfortunately this has been a travel day. Finally home. Did really good the first two days and then fell off the wagon totally and completely today. But thankfully tomorrow we start all over again.

"See" you all in the morning! :D

Working hard, which is a change from usual. It's usually hardly working.

I was thinking about getting one of those light boxes, but they seem awfully expensive. I read as you can make one for yourself for some small amount, like $10 or $25 or $50. Might be worth a weekend.

As to the day: Very busy with demands on my time, which took away from the project. But, I matched all the KC people to their agencies. Just have to drop some numbers in, five ten minutes work, and send it to my client rep.

Also matched 650 philly people to their agencies. That was a PITA, because they were mixed with about 200 new york people. Now, just have to make sure they aren't in Philly (I kind of blended the 27 people who are actually in their correct hierarchies into the 600+ who were in New York for sorting purposes), drop some numbers in, and make some work for my client manager.

When it's all done, we will be back and able to audit the F out of people. I am mad about doing this because I have gotten FOUR or FIVE people who have reported that they have done their audits, which is, frankly, impossible. The boss and I are gonna crack some heads, or something.

I cleaned out the file cabinets I have been delaying forever. Had to, because the men are coming to take them away in the morning. Nothing like a deadline to make you do stuff.

As to the program:
Water: never a problem
Protein: 155
Carbs: <15
Cals: on target, precisely.
Leftover steak with 2 oz of cheddar melted over the top for dinner. Very nice.

Reporting in... feeling rather blah tonight. Didn't have the planned chicken for dinner... went to Fuddrucker's instead. I ordered a bunless burger with cheese, then added a bit of ketchup. The "well meaning" folks behind the counter decided to give us a free basket of fries for our extended wait. Neither DH and I thought much of that. Finished my burger and the fries were sitting there and I was still hungry.... but I pervailed. Moved them to the other end of the table and buried myself in my crossword puzzles!

So for the day:

Protein: 176
Carbs: 33
Water: 104
Supplements: no - problem when we eat out then too tired/full to do it when we get home
Reading: am behind, hopefully tonight, but not looking so good. I am however working my brain muscles with crosswords :)

I enjoyed Dr. Mike's blog today, very inspirational :D
