The process of succeeding can be seen as a series of trials in which your vision constantly guides you toward your target while in your actual performance you are regularly slightly off target. Success in any area requires constantly readjusting your behavior as the result of feedback from your experience. Michael Gelb and Tony Buzan (http://www.motivationalquotes.com/People/juggle.shtml)
Sorry to be so late guys. I ended up sleeping in -- something I rarely do. This quote fits me so well regarding diet and exercise. My greater vision is right on target: weight loss, better health, managing the diabeastie. But my day to day performance is not always on target -- never far off as I've become more at home with this WOE, but many times just a bit off. So I readjust my behaviour depending on what my body and my blood sugar meter tells me. By doing that I am working closer to my overall goal. What about you?
Goals today are working outside, exercise, and healthy eating. Breakfast will be a cappuchino shake. Lunch baked chicken with veggie medley and an colesalaw. Supper a small steak and salad. In between will be an apple, cheese, and dark chocolate. Yummy!

Morning BC! Love the quote, seems to fit me as well.
The scale was my friend again this morning (rarely isn't when I'm sticking to the plan) another 1.5 down from last week. 14 total since Jan 2.
Other than going to Charleston no clue on today's plans. I'm not even sure what I'm doing for breakfast. Hoping to get DH out of bed so he can scramble us up some eggs, otherwise I'll probably boil some. Bacon either way.
Currently 40 here so starting out warmer than the highs have been lately. Supposed to be a beautiful, sunny 70. That's just a bit too warm for February for me, but it's good for our little day trip.

Wow, BC, that quote is really spot on for many of us here --on this board and also in other aspects of life. It made me realize that is exactly my process.
I have the goal right up there in a big spotlight and I make progress in many ways, but it is a process of up and down, right and left, back and forward moves.
Today is supposed to be in the 60's here so maybe we'll be able to see all of our grass again soon. Patches of it appeared yesterday so I bet all will be gone today. I sure hope so. Of course there isn't to much to do outside anyway--now it is so darn muddy.:eek:
No big plans for the day. I wish there were because I am in my "young and restless" mode meaning I want to get out there and do something fun !! But what????:confused:

Today:
We go to the movies. We throw out some stuff. We celebrate my birthday. a couple days early. We're going to get BBQ. I believe I'm gonna call it a streak at 36 days and call a meal off. The task for tomorrow will be to reign it back in and get back on the program. I should have a breakfast, maybe a shake or something. Gotta get to work on that.

Have fun and enjoy, Max !!
Next you can get set up to beat the 36. Your birthday won't get in the way --- hmmm, ---when is your dw's birthday?
morning all.
On the 5 hours of sleep I got last night...not feeling it yet, but i know i will.
Already made ginger chocolate cake and two casseroles. We have some friends that we meet for dinner...they have kids, so when we go for a meal we always bring all the food!
I made a tater tot hotdish and a sausage-cauliflower casserole. Lot of food, but we leave the leftovers.
it's our goodwill!
scale was up today, but I was very low on water last night and only had 5 hours of sleep, so I'm not sure the 1.5gain is real. We'll see tomorrow and/or Monday.
off to take the cake (which is simply NOT an option for me) out of the oven.

Hi, everybody,
BC, great quote, it sure applies to me for sure.
I was missing in action this week, but on plan.
This week has been great, no carbage, but "steady as she goes" on plan. Today, the scale has moved and the 4lbs I gained eating those stupid Valentine Candy hearts is gone. http://images.lowcarbfriends.com/lcf/bbs/images/smilies/clapping.gif
I also started working on my Masters degree this week, it will be mostly on line, but still will still take a chunk of my time, plus working full time.
I am excited as this has been a personal education dream for along time.
Work was busy also, but as before, "staying on the plan" makes each day better and helps you feel great.
Today, my challenge is a "surprize" dinner at a friends house, I am bringing a veggie, but besides the entree of some kind of meat, I don't know what else will be there. I do know I have my strategy planned out to stay on plan.
This am, 2.5 hike in the local state park, lots of hills, interval training, etc.
Menu :
Brunch: two egg omelet with veggies, turkey bacon, diet ocean spray cranberry juice.
Snack before dinner: cooked chicken, raw veggies, few tiny dill pickles
Dinner: veggie, whatever protein is there, green salad. SF jello when I get home if still hungry.
Happy Birthday, Max hope it is fun.
Ammy, wow, your ginger chocolate cake sounds delish, is it low carb,if so would you share the recipe?
Karole, I think you have done so well on your journey meeting your goal.
Becca, wow, 14 lbs in January, way to go!
Will try to post more often.
Have a great weekend, all.

Hello people! lol! Just popped in to say howdy and hope everyone has a great weekend! I had 2 fried eggs and 4 pieces of bacon along with my coffee n cream this morning. I am still in phase one .... and will be for some time. It is 48 degrees and sunny here as well, and I see it is already melting all the snow we had last weekend.
Loved the quote!

It's not...sorry.
Well, right when I put the casseroles in the oven, our friends called and are having a vet emergancy. Something about the dog eating his cloth bone and now it seems "stuck"...so we're heading over tonight.
We're going to put all the food in the car (it's perfect refridgerator temps outside) then we're heading out to the vacuum store, Ikea, REI, and Columbia. Sounds like a fun day!

Great quote, BC! I can apply that to more than one aspect of my life!
Wow, I just had an hour snooze and probably messed up my sleep for tonight. I also had a short night last night and a busy day today, so I must have needed it.
Happy birthday, Max!
Becca, great report!
Karole, did you find something fun?
Claudette, a Master's is quite an undertaking! I guess we'll make do with seeing you when you can make it here. Kudos to you!
Amy, how did dinner go?
Momtoboxer, glad you stopped to visit us. :)
I went closet shopping again today. My sister's this time. She's lost weight and had to clean out her stuff and most of it fit me. She's geeked because she's buying a smaller size. We both went shopping today; I got a new coat and found all kinds of stuff for her to buy! The sales are on! My feet are killing me.

Okay, home from the trip... walked and walked and walked (Shadow would be proud). I may do the GPed thing and see just how far, but my feet are hurting enough already.
On the flip side, eating not so good. Won't get into all the gory details, will just say it did involve two guys named Ben and Jerry ;) I doubt I have that even once a year so it was a real treat, but the whole day was pretty much not good.
No desires to repeat it though, I'm feeling pretty miserable along with sore. I'm now at 11/13 of my 21/28 so not disasterous yet.
Back on track tomorrow and grocery store too. Hopefully I can focus enough tonight to get the dinner menu for the week planned (not that we stick to it, but I try, if I don't do one it's REAL bad).

Happy Saturday!
I haven't had time to sit down and read all the posts, but I want to wish everyone a terrific rest of the week-end!

Dinner went great. We really enjoy those friends and their two children.
I'm EXHAUSTED though. five hours of sleep last night, and going going all day today. Its time for bed.

Hi all -- I did drop below that 0 mark. :D Well below by today. And I've lost two inches off my waist. The coconut oil seems to smooth out any hunger I may have, so it's easy to do PP.
I'm also doing strength training and some walking (outside with friends).
Hope you all have a great week!

Checking in as well. Got out for some outside walking yesterday, it was glorious here and today sunny and bright.
I am still only down 2.5 lbs since January so your 14 Becca is wonderful, congratulations! The quote that BC started this out with has my name all over it! I am in that self eval mode with work and health and all that, that I seem to go through annually. And really at least in my mind in a much better place, more focused, more orientated toward success, and not only thinking of it but taking the right steps to get there, What a relief!!!:)
So things are well here, tonight dinner is beef stir fry.
Have a great weekend, my work on my grant is almost completed, time for a party!

I am still on plan, I did have a couple times of cheating, but got back on plan and am getting stronger every day at it. keeping busy is helping distract me from overeating.

Here it is Sunday!
Oh, my!
Where did it go?
I'm having a hard time staying off the scale!
"Just a little peak won't hurt" sounds a lot like
"Just a little bite won't hurt!" Okay! Got it!
Best wishes to all of you for a successful Sunday!

Next you can get set up to beat the 36. Your birthday won't get in the way --- hmmm, ---when is your dw's birthday?
Let's see. Back on plan today, 44 days until we depart for France. I can do that. Back from France on April 7, then it's to June 19 (anniversary). Then June 20th to Thanksgiving maybe? That'd be a run. Thanksgiving to December 7 (DW B-day), to X-mas week through New Years.
Of course, there is nothing that says I have to eat off plan for our Anniversary, or my DW's B-day or even T-giving (assuming I make it again).

Great to read all the posts. I've been AWOL since yesterday morning due to the fact a major phone line was cut west of here. Could call east, but not west, and that's where the internet connection is. At least it wasn't the electricity!
Was on-plan yesterday. Today, I attended a benefit for a young man who was severely injured. BBQ brisket sandwiches and sides. I ate fairly well on-plan until the brownie. But even so will end the day at or under my ECC goal. Just not real healthy choices food-wise. I did buy some wonderful salad greens, so will eat better tomorrow.
Happy birthday, MAX! :D
Hey all. Been VERY busy today!
When I woke up, I could barely walk. My muscles seem to be reacting (in a very angry way) to the hip issues I've been having. The hamstrings/butt were so sore I could barely step on them...but with steps it felt better. NEVER stopped hurting today, but would warm up after walking, then I would fatigue and have to sit down, then I would cramp and have to stand up, then I ...well, you get the picture.
However, I did get a GREAT massage from GF. And I have thanked the makers of Ibuprofen and Flexural :D.
So in the time I had to be up moving around, I got all my lunches and breakfasts made and packaged to be taken to work so I don't have to think about what I'm going to have.
I'm set this week, and have some lunches that I will stick in the freezer at work so when I get back from Whistler, I won't have to cook right away! WHIPEEEE!
Meals today were really odd. Went to the neighbors for brunch, (quiche-left the crust, fruit, and bacon), had mcdoubles for lunch, and lc lasagna for supper. Hot dogs for snack. When entering the quiche into fitday, my carbs say 50, but I'm not sure how to reduce the crust I left on my plate, so I'm just marking 45 carbs.
Water: 70oz
Supps: yes
Pro: 135
Ecc: 45
Fat: 197
Cal: 2169
I had tomato the other day and the acidity caused my mouth to hurt. Then yesterday I had hot dogs, and today I had bacon and hot dogs...so all that salt is really bothering me.
The scale said 201 today, which is crazy high - and therefore showed that the salt is causing a reaction in me. I'm not worried about the number on the scale, but it reinforces how much salt affects me.
:frown:
I look forward to my muscles relaxing, and my mouth calming down.

Ammy, so sorry you're having such a time with both your mouth and hip. No fun at all!! Hope it will be better tomorrow. Does a nice soak in epsom salt help your hip at all?
My counts were good today except I didn't get as much as usual in the protein dept. protein: 86 ecc 33
fruits/veggies: grapefruit, celery,green beans, cabbage,cranberries.
Carol-- we went to the movies and saw Clint Eastwood's movie "Gran Torino" It was good, but the language was pretty bad--very bad. But at least we got out of the house.

I am still on plan, I did have a couple times of cheating, but got back on plan and am getting stronger every day at it. keeping busy is helping distract me from overeating.Whoopee! Just keep getting stronger, Lucille!
I'm having a hard time staying off the scale!
"Just a little peak won't hurt" sounds a lot like
"Just a little bite won't hurt!" Okay! Got it!Yup! It's a matter of staying away from temptation either way. I sent you a PM, by the way, Jazzy. Did you see it?
Of course, there is nothing that says I have to eat off plan for our Anniversary, or my DW's B-day or even T-giving (assuming I make it again).I know you're a planner, Max. You CAN plan to stay on plan!
But even so will end the day at or under my ECC goal. Just not real healthy choices food-wise. I did buy some wonderful salad greens, so will eat better tomorrow. Hey, numbers are numbers! You're not over your goal, so you're fine. The salad's a better choice, I agree. ;)

(((Amy))) The muscle pain probably means your PT is working, which will be good in the long run. The inflammation might also add to your water retention--do you think? I know how you feel and you have my sympathy! I never liked Flexeril because I couldn't wake up in the morning.
Carol-- we went to the movies and saw Clint Eastwood's movie "Gran Torino" It was good, but the language was pretty bad--very bad. But at least we got out of the house.Glad you got out of the house! Are the roads better? I haven't seen that movie yet, but I've heard it's good.
I had a great day today and nowhere near the pain I had yesterday, even though I did quite a bit of walking during the course of the day. I'm convinced it's the weather. DH was a cripple today, but was fine yesterday. We must be wired differently!
I had cauli casserole for brunch, greek yogurt and berries later and sauteed ham with onions and peppers around dinner time. Finished up with a cup of tea and some Lindt 85%.
When I was shopping this afternoon I really wanted to try some of the other dark chocolates and picked one that had nuts and berries in it. Then I checked the net carbs against the Lindt and put it back. This worked for three different bars! It's the numbers! It suddenly wasn't worth it.
I also found a 91% cacao bar yesterday in an upscale deli/gift shop. I didn't even look at the counts until I had carried it around for a while, but when I did I put it back. It was made of just cocoa beans and sugar, which put the carbs right up there. I only checked because my sister wondered about the ingredients. Whew!

Carol, our roads are completely clear now that we have had several days of warmish weather. Soooooo glad. Hope your aches and pains disappear for a long while.
