Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible.
Frank Zappa
If the “norm” is high carbs and “healthy” grains, I am certainly a deviate!
This quote really reminds me of my exercise program. If you do the same thing day after day, your body gets too efficient. You have to change the routine, the intensity, the frequency, in order to keep your body guessing.
Have you changed up your exercise program lately?
Breakfast will be a protein shake. Lunch will be the rest of the chicken/sausage/broccoli/alfredo. Dinner will probably be a burger.

What now we are deviates? :D Carol we have been called worse things I suppose!! :D
But how true! And I love being such a nut!
The scale moved today, very nice way to be a deviate!
Have a grand day everyone, own the day and make it yours!

Morning all... I'm suffering from a carb hangover this morning, not surprising.
Drinking my shake now (and I will be so glad when I go back to my "normal" shakes of few carbs and more fat!). Have cheese, almonds and Lindt packed for work. DH and I will be eating lunch after he picks me up from work so not sure what that will be yet. Dinner is burgers (and that reminds me I need lettuce and tomatoes, not on the Sam's list) and some kind of veggie, prolly carrots or green beans.
Hopefully today goes better than yesterday.

It will, because you've planned for it. And you've got a plan B in case of emergency, right? ;)

afternoon, all!
I've been really obnoxious on here lately - just barely posting when I post at all
I have been scanning and occasionally reading and I apologize for not being at all supportive of anyone.
I'm truly thankful and grateful that you have all been here for me, regardless.
Still headachy and nauseated. and now I'm feeling achy from my ribs up.
can't sleep much. feeling like I have a fever, but don't.
I went in to work this morning, but came home half a day sick ...
cancelled a visit with our sweet Annie last night.
breakfast - back to my eggs and bacon. 1/2 coffee, couldn't drink more, but did drink a large glass of water, too.
lunch, tuna on a lc tortilla (8)
exercise, did stairs and walked for about 5 minutes.

Gee, it's already evening? That one sure flew by. Guess that around here the 24 hours seem shorter - when you're busy time flies even if you're not playing. I did get in some really good exercise though. Folded 3 panels of netting after having towed them up more or less 500 meters of hilly land. Stuffed two in a big barrel and tapped it. Carted the folded ones to the house, filled my gathering basket with wild chard and came into the house to get my day started (hey it was only 10:15!)
So the norm around here has very few deviances...unless you count tomorrow when the norm will be broken by NO work until after lunch. I'm not even going to vacuum or do anything. It's walk and have a great capuccino out then home. Will count the 4.7 ECC in the whole milk!;)
Really love birthday cake and honestly it is one honey tree that is really tough for me to run off from. I usually eat a really nice sugar rose and then get sick for the rest of the day. Not really smart but as you said Jazzy 'life happens'.
Proteins today 0ver 120
ECC at 25
Fats ... how do you calculate those?
Exercise: alread written above
Supplements for sure
Water 2 liters (am waking up lots at night to make deposits)
Diversely things here are super, especially since I am really looking forward to being a DEVIATE tomorrow morning!!!:D

My friend Watts wrote a book about Deviancy as the main force of innovation. Bit weak in places and a bit redundant in others, but on the whole, pretty good. Did not get the review or markets that his more famous book (The 500 Year Delta) got.
At any rate, if sane is eating 200-300g of carbs a day, I am happy to be nuts (and eat them too).
Anniesnan...we're here when you want/need us! We'll wait, if your not ready!
Come when you can, stay as long as you'd like, we're happy to see you even if you're just "popping in"!
Jazzy...life happens, yes, you're absolutely right...
but your best choice is to not continue to allow it to happen today...yesterday was her birthday, no reason for cake/cream today right??? Stay strong Jazzy!

Just woke from a nap. Have my fingers crossed, headache seems to have taken one, too:)

Crazy day at work, but I held up my end! I'm trying to correct errors without getting mixed up in the politics. It helps to know who the players are. I mostly just don't say anything to anyone. That's hard, because I tend to chatter mindlessly! ;) I don't s'pose you've noticed! :D
I'm dragging just a bit today and hoping I didn't catch a virus. If I did, I'll give it a run for its money!

It will, because you've planned for it. And you've got a plan B in case of emergency, right? ;)
Well it went well. And no plan B, I'm doing good to come up with Plan A :D
Other than a Fitday issue, cuz lunch info is really unkown so I had to do a best guess and hope I'm close, I was nearly angelic today. :)
Breakfast: 1 myoplex packet with water
Snacks at work: cheese, almonds, Lindt
Lunch ( the elderly ladies DH was helping with computer stuff treated us to lunch - was so nice of them): Applebee's - blackened chicken salad (sub'd caesar for the bacon vingrette dressing)
Dinner: 2 burger patties w/ cheese and just a drop of ketchup, green beans.
Loads of water today, was actually in PAIN at one point (on the way to get the DDs from school and then home) cuz my bladder was so full. Took my mind off my foot for a while at least ;)
Even made it to Sam's, though I didn't sit as planned, DH never would've found anything.
So my best guess on totals:
Protein: 153
Carbs: 50
Water: 140
Supps: yes
I'll be back to my normal shakes for breakfast tomorrow so that will cut 10 Carbs out of my day. Then again I haven't been having any wraps lately so that may make up for it. As long as I'm losing (when I'm not screwing up) I'm going to stick to the 55. I'm aiming for something "long term doable" at this point, will tweak if necessary, but so far so good.
I'm beat... we had dinner late too and I hate to go to bed so soon after eating (though it has been over an hour) but I need my sleep too!
See you all tomorrow!

I'm being a bit AWOL myself lately. But I do read the posts and send you all warm thoughts. Thursday was a lovely day weather-wise, so got lots of sunshine and good exercise while working outside.
Ended the day OK on protein and ECC. Weight is holding fairly steady, which thrills me.
I am so grateful for this forum. We have a wonderful ability to let folks be themselves without pushing or berating when some of us are less than stellar either in our presence or compliance to this WOE. It's amazing how so many of us disappear for a while and then are welcomed back with open arms and encouraged along the way. Thank you.:D
I hope you got some sleep, Ames.
I woke up twice in the night with my mind racing about work...I shook off all the cats and GF, rolled over, and went back to sleep. That was lucky cause I can't usually turn off the brain that quickly!
GF and I are starting to fight...you know, those silly petty "I'm so tired" "you're working all the time and I never get to talk to you" fights...
Vacation can't come soon enough.

Applebees does not publish nutritional info, of course, but the Men's Health Eat This, Not That have some methodology for figuring some stuff out anyway. They did not do the Blackened Chicken Salad, but they do recommend NOT eating the Grilled Steak Caesar. Of course, they do that based on total calories and total fat (they are low fatters, ultimately).
Here's what I puzzled about that (which might be close since the dressing was the same).
They cite 1295 calories with 82g of fat, which works to 557 calories from protein and carbs. They include a piece of garlic toast in there... figure 150-250 calories from that, leaving 300-400 of protein and carb, or 75-100 grams, probably mostly protein from the chicken and such.

Both of these point to having a mature conversation with GF about her lack of work.
As to me: I got home and had a massive steak for dinner. Was worried about calories, but actually, it worked just fine.
Carbs: <12
Protein: ~180
Cals: On target to a tad low (maybe 50 below where I think is ideal)
water: easy.
That's 5 in a row.

Thanks Max! That's one of my biggest issues with using FitDay, but since it's mainly "guidelines" right now I just work with what I have.
I ended up trying to estimate things like how much chicken, how much eggs, etc... came up with something that was about 670 calories (the dressing was on the side and I didn't use all of that) with approx 50 grams protein (including those in the greens and dressing which I wouldn't count) and about 8 carbs (actual, not ECC) as I didn't eat the tomatoes. Maybe I severly underestimated the amount of chicken, eggs and cheese. At least the protein is a minimum. :D
One of those lovely cases where I feel confident I was eating "on plan" just can't satisfy Fitday.
Texas Roadhouse has a Grilled Steak Caesar that I absolutely love and again I have no info for Fitday (and I get mine w/out croutons) I wonder those numbers would work for that.

You can always do what I did.
1- To amazon.com with you.
2- search Eat This Not That
3- Search Inside the main ETNT book for Texas Roadhouse.
4- Click on the two page spread for it if they have it.
5- make your best guesses since they only pulled total calories and total fat. Everything else is protein and carbs, assuming no alcohol. Make your best guesses and go from there.
I don't eat salad, so I don't really worry about dressings, but I suspect there could be a lot of stealth carbs in some of them, even what we know as Caesar at some restaurants.

I feel like I have been gone forever, sorry guys! I have not had much time for the computer. I have been watching what I am eating and the scale is staying consistent. I entered another curling bonspiel and have been very busy. Oh and I am fighting another sinus infection!
don't worry all is good and I am taking a me night tonight to regroup and relax.

For our purposes, probably not. But if you eat at chain restaurants a lot, and you are stumped, maybe.
Use the Amazon preview to figure if you want to buy it. I have picked it up and looked at it but my main complaints are:
1- focus on calories and fat
2- no information on carbs or protein
3- not totally comprehensive in it's breakdown of menu items.
Plus, I'm generally kind of limited in what I eat out. I get steak. If it comes with fries, I ask if they have asparagus or green beans or tomato slices or cottage cheese or onion rings (onion rings in moderation are not that bad... check out Fitday on the subject... they are not broccoli or kale, either.... no I am not confused on this) or really anything other than potatoes. Or I get hot wings. Or eggs. Or pork chops with the same changes. I know who I am and I know where my trouble lies (bread and easy finger salty foods.... As I told our waiter who started detailing the dessert offerings, I can resist anything but temptation).
But, your calculus on owning the thing is gonna be different than mine. I should add, in Chicago, the chain restaurants are either downtown where the tourists are and the parking is not or out in the suburbs where parking is abundant but traffic to get to the parking is insane. If you are already in the burbs (like we were in VA), it might be more useful.
I would buy it in a second if they made it for their TNT diet (the Men's Health LC diet).
