Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them - every day begin the task anew.
Saint Francis de Sales
Read it more than once! It's just what I need to be told.
Almost made it through another week! Today has a plan, so I'm hoping for the best. Breakfast will be the mango/ginger shake. Lunch looks like cauli casserole. Dinner is still in the freezer so I have to remember to take out something. Probably stew meat.
Have a great Friday, everyone! :)

Love the Sales Saint. Seems a really good way to live. Renewing every day. Seems the perfect way to start the weekend.
Had a good morning but I didn't deviate from the norm. Got home from my walk in the bitter cold (and stop laughing Amy:p) 0.5°C and immediately started putting the world in order. Inside till 9:30 then in the garden where I transplanted some amarylis bulbs . DH got home for lunch and promptly told me that this is NOT the season to transplant bulbs of any kind. Oh well, last year I did the same thing and they bloomed just the same. Took them from a planter and into the ground so they even have lots of room to root. We'll see.
Meals for today were simple:
Bfast - 2 HBoiled eggs and 3 strips of bacon, an ittybitty apple
Lunch - baked salmon steak, lettuce. Actually I'm not sure it was enough but for now I'll sit on it and see what happens in a couple of hours. Can always have a bigger snack
Dinner - salmon steak and caulicheese cassarole
Chocolate while reading.
Proteins yesterday were really high - 142. Strange how they shot up. I was really hungry. Must be the extra work.
Gee, today is Friday the 13th for the superstitious. For the rest of us it is only the day before Valentine's Day. ;)

I will second the TGIF and the quote from St Francis de Sales, impatience with myself and imperfections I have plenty of!
It has been a long week, I am just on the road so much, spending about 6 hours in the car yesterday, 2 hours waiting in line at a reception for our new governor. It is not that my day yesterday was taxing, it was just loooooong. Really a bad week next one as well, and the bad part of it is crunched into three days, yikes! SOOO my plan is to really embrace today and the moment, to work on my patience and be prepared, that is all I can do.
Tomorrow doc and I are going on some kind of adventure, we don't know yet but we are taking some time to enjoy the Chicago area and all it offers. No cell phones we decided are coming with us! :paranoid:
Thanks Carole, Thanks puddin and all to follow have a great TGIF Day!

Teehee..."bitter cold"....HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAAAAA

You did work really hard yesterday with the nets and such. If your body asks for more, then eating "more than usual" protein/fat is exactly what your body needed!

Wonderful quote, Carol. Patience is hard to come by, especially with myself these days. Thanks for the reminder -- also the last part is so important. We really do start anew each day.
Puddin -- .5C is cold, so don't apologize. Especially since yours would be a wet cold. I bitch...err...complain when the temps get below 40F.
Billie -- kudos on leaving the cells at home. I don't have one, mainly because I would always leave it at home for fear it might ring and disturb me!
Everyone else, have a wonderful day. I plan to. Brekkie was a protein shake with strawberries. Lunch will be venison stew with lots of veggies, and dinner will probably be my favourite apple/cheese/wine along with some wonderful looking shrimp I purchased yesterday. I'll be outside today since the wind is supposed to be low and the sun hot. :D

Morning all!
Crazy temps here today, woke up to sub-freezing and it's going to get up to 72 today! Makes deciding what to wear such fun.
Had my shake this morning (back to my normal, creamy kind now - yeah!). Lunch and snack are packed (cheese and leftover burgers from last night). Chicken is out for dinner, probably Baton Rouge with salad and carrots. Will have my tuna/almonds this afternoon as well (sure have missed that!).
Lots of paperwork on my desk (here at home) I need to deal with this afternoon, I've put too much of that off this week in the craziness. Hopefully I won't work too late.
I had originally planned to take the DDs to school so I could have that car, but just wasn't up to dealing with taking them (and picking them up) so I'm driving my car today, hopefully my foot doesn't protest too much. DD2 is worried about me cuz I've already had such a bad week and it's Friday the 13th. ;)
Hope everyone has a happy Friday.

We are celebrating Valentines day today at this restaurant
http://www.mairinstable.com/menu.html
I am thinking the stuffed mushrooms, chicken masala (no french bread-will ask for more veggies instead of potatoes).
What do you think?
Otherwise food looks like this:
7:30am cauli-sausage casserole
9am 2almond scones
12pm lc lasagna, 3oz pickles
3pm iced latte
6pm stuffed mushrooms, chix masala, 1glass wine
final day of work before EIGHT DAYS OF VACATION!!! The transfer/sale of our company is scheduled for 2/25, RIGHT after I get back. I so angry about that! I have too much to do for him to squeeze this in so quickly right around my vacation...then give me GUILT about how they had to move it out (was scheduled for 2/20) BECAUSE of my vacation...
I am NOT taking that guilt on my vacation!!
Attitude is good today...I can feel the vacation coming! I was watching BBC news this morning and they were doing a news segment from Whistler because it's exactly ONE year until the Olympics!!
Here's (http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/todo/index.htm) where I'll be staying!!
Here's (http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/olympics/index.htm) the section on Whistler and the Olympics. THey just finished the Alpine trails for the Olympics and opened them to the public...we're going to ski some of the easier trails...not the Black Olympic trails!!

What do you think? Excellent choice, Madame! Yum! I never heard of a tangine, but I'd like to taste one!
I am NOT taking that guilt on my vacation!! By the time you return, it will be done, right? Not to worry. Nothing you can do. He'll have to handle it.

:D I hope they bloom prolifically, just so you can say so!
Tomorrow doc and I are going on some kind of adventure, we don't know yet but we are taking some time to enjoy the Chicago area and all it offers. No cell phones we decided are coming with us! :paranoid:Sounds like a great plan! You could shut one phone off and hide it in the glove box in case of an emergency? Unless you think you'd be checking for messages every hour like one of my friends does....
Wonderful quote, Carol. Patience is hard to come by, especially with myself these days. Thanks for the reminder -- also the last part is so important. We really do start anew each day. BC, the quote was gifted to me, which got me thinking. If anyone has a quote that you think we could all relate to just PM it to me.
I know it's hard to have patience when you know your needs aren't being met, so I commend you. There's got to be an answer somewhere!
Crazy temps here today, woke up to sub-freezing and it's going to get up to 72 today! Makes deciding what to wear such fun.Layers? :D Like a XC skier. You can peel them off as the day progresses. That is my dream temp. I hope your foot is improving, Becca!

I believe tangine is a way of cooking?? My friend has one and LOVES the way it mixes the flavors with the food.

Amy - I am jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a beautiful place!:cool: I am happy for you to get away. Now I know you'll have a fantastic time. Who couldn't???? I'll be thinking of you and wishing I was there. Bring us back some thoughts about what you did and how much fun you had!
Friday - just another day to keep on plan and look back and see how well I did. So far, the best week of the year. Went back to working out. Stayed on plan for the most part, took off a few pounds. If the rest of the year was like this one, I'll be doing great.:D It's up to me. That's a tall order! Looking forward to tomorrow. DH said he'd help me get my music library in order and get my mp3 players all working properly! That will help in the workout department. I always do better and a lot more with good music playing. Anyway, I thought that was a good way to spend our Valentine's day together. Listening to good music and getting something done. I'm thinking a special lc meal would top that off. Now, I just need to get to the store and get something special.
Well, I got to get some breakfast. It's getting late. Have a wonderful Friday!

Patience, patience, patience! I have to repeat this to myself EVERY day, several times a day. Not just with weight loss, but so many things. Trying to sell my house for almost 4 years now - I definetly have been patient. In the end, my patience will all be worth the outcome.
Down 1 lb. this morning. I am ok with that since I am just starting on this journey. TGIF everyone!! How does everyone do on the weekends? Weekends are very difficult for me because my schedule is not structured...weight is a constant reminder in my head during the weekends because I am an emotional eater. I really struggle with that and hope one day I will look at food as fuel for my body instead of looking at food for comfort.

TGIF is RIGHT!! Got a super busy day ahead.. went out to eat last night with the fam.. though I ordered grilled tilapia, I still could not resist the fried pickles... (yes, they are that yummy!) But no increase on the scale ths am. (I did have my allergies pick up within an hour after all that wheat... but back on the wagon today.)

I'm not a snow persone Amy but I really envy a vacation in a place like that! It is beautiful! Definitely no guilt for your vacation and at work the move. Tough luck guy! You'll come home relaxed, tanned and feel ooooh so good!
For your dinner I think that you could have the mushrooms, extra veggies and also those wonderful prawns (if you like them). I would go for the artichoke dip, hold the carbs and give me some carrots or celery please. Looks good to me. Dont' forget that glass of white wine!
Today was a big work day...pruning down some big trees which are too near the street. Branches were around 25cm diameter and tomorrow DH is getting the big chainsaw for the trunks. Lots of good olive wood for the woodchugger.
Billie, no phone means total tranquillity! How wonderful.
Becca, seems that you're on track again. Hope your foot doesn't give you problems. When you're seated at your desk behind all those papers, put your foot up on a chair so it rests.
Am off to read some other stuff. Loved the article in Dr.E's blog about insula and such. Pretty valid explanation why we often jump off the wagon!

Hm...here Carol, try these...Amy, thanks for all the links. I would love to drive along the Sea to Sky highway; what a photo op! Have you ever driven from Duluth to Thunder Bay? Before they upgraded the highway the dropoffs were so beautiful! Scary on ice, though.
We don't have a Moroccan restaurant around here that I know of, but I'm going to look!

Friday - just another day to keep on plan and look back and see how well I did. That's a good way of looking at it, Sharon. No longer the jumping-off point for a binge! That's what it used to be for me, at least. Some people miss the excitement of living dangerously on weekends, but it's best to be steady, IMHO. Have fun with your music! Do you both like the same genres? The Geezer and I have some gaps in that department. Luckily, we have some mutual likes as well.

It takes a while to keep that tiger asleep while you go about your daily business. On weekends, I often do just two meals a day, but they are on plan. I start out with coffee and cream and then brunch around noon. Supper in late afternoon and maybe a snack with TV at night. No formal meals because no-one in my house eats at the same time, especially on weekends. I eat around my blood sugar, DH eats around his meds, and DS eats on the run.

I want to re-read it. It makes sense to me! I already knew this forum has the same effect as a 12-step meeting and now I have scientific proof!
I just finished my cauli bake thingy and I'm so full! One co-worker who has recently gone back to low carb eating was almost drooling and wants the recipe. :) It's just plain GOOD!

Yes I have...everywhere around Lake Superior is BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I didn't even think about the drive to Vancouver...it WILL be a good photo op!!
BTW, less that 24 hours from takeoff...can't wait!!

Sticking my head in for a few.
Billie, I'm with Carol, take a phone (turned off) just in case you need to make a call.
For those that have asked (thank you!), my foot is doing better. Still hurts some, especially walking, but I can stand on it (in one spot) and the swelling/discoloration is fading. Tingles once in a while when I'm sitting, hoping that means it's healing.
So far so good foodwise today. Have eaten what I expect to thus far and nothing I shouldn't have. I suspect dinner plans will change as DH is just now on his way home (an hour late) and he's the cook (I do preliminary prep). I'll still be okay if we go out cuz I know where we'll go. DD1 was whining about the dinner plans anyway (though I keep trying to tell her I can't cater ever meal to her likes she's too picky!). And I forgot we needed the carrots for dinner and had some with lunch... so there's not really enough and carrots is one of those things I don't like to have too much of in one day.
Thinking ahead toward the weekend and I think I need to get bacon out of the freezer. I try to have "real food" for breakfast on the weekends instead of shakes for some variety.
9 days left of my modified month and I'm at 14/19 of my 21/28 goal. So all is not yet lost.
Be back later with numbers....

Great to see so many posts on a Friday. Amy -- have a wonderful vacation and don't sweat the work stuff. I used to do an all body shake when I left for holiday and work was still nagging me -- just stand still, begin at the head and shoulders and work down the body, just shaking off the work issues. Sort of like a big shaggy dog shaking after a bath. I used to imagine the work issues just flying off me like water off the dog. Silly, perhaps, but it used to work for me.
Good food day today. 43 ECC, 87 protein. Lots of sunshine outside. Didn't get as much done as I'd hoped, but I enjoyed being outside. It's supposed to be cloudy tomorrow, so will probably get some inside stuff done. Have a great night, everyone.

I'm afraid I didn't get any exercise for the day . I think I just got lazy or something and didn't make myself get at it.
Protein 128 ecc 37
cranberries, baby carrots, broccoli, strawberries, artichokes were the fruits and veggies of the day
BC, so funny you should say that...as I was walking out of my office I wanted to shake or do a jig or something PHYSICAL to get the "work" off me!
So, I left work at 5:15 so I could make a 5:30 reservation dinner with gf (made it last minute so it was kind of early), our V-day celebration, and she gets lost trying to find the restaurant and then we get in a fight cause I have to go back to work after we eat, and I want to cry because my boss was so much more awful today that he normally can be.
Ugh:cry::cry:...
so after we pouted for a few mintues, we made up, took my job off the talking-table, and had a very nice enjoyable meal. I had just what I said...two stuffed mushrooms, chix masala, 8 cherry tomatoes and 8 TINY asparagus spears, and 1.5 glasses of pinot grigo...it was good, but when I left work at 9pm (after going back after eating), I was hungry. It just wasn't quite enough food today for the adrenaline I had. so I ate two HB eggs and now I'm calling it a night.
don't know the counts but I can't imagine I'm out of my protein/carb bounds.
we fly out tomrorow...11:45, can't wait. We'll be in Seattle overnight...anyone in Seattle???

DH took me out to eat today so we wouldn't have to
fight the crowds tomorrow night. Glad that's over!!!!
I'll do much better tomorrow!
Oh, my goodness, it was Friday the 13th! THAT's why
I ate too much. Yeah, right....
Sending healthy energy your way and keeping a bit of it
for myself!

hi everyone!
had a headache still, yesterday, but easier.
went to the doc's anyway, just 'cos it's been 9 years since I've had a headache 4 days in a row, wanted to make sure it was just a headache.
spent the late morning crawling through a spiderwebby, dusty crawl space to get to the shut off valve for a leak (at work) did not encounter any spiders, just the webs.
stayed on plan ...
we went out to Appleby's for dinner - here in NY, thanks to mayor Mike, I guess, they publish the calorie count for all the foods, but not any nutritional info. DH & I had steak and shrimp combo - I didn't really pay attention to the calories, can't remember what it was.
my second choice would have been chicken/steak combo fajita, w/o the tortillas which was popping in at something like 1250-1450 calories.
Amy, that menu sounds really interesting. We have so many ethnic restaurants, but I don't think I've eaten in a strictly Moroccan one, but I can say the Greek, Turkish, and Syrian places do not have stuffed mushroom caps and chicken marsala or crab cakes ...
it sounds like the chef has some particular favs that aren't Moroccan and includes them on the menu.
My downfall in them is the hummus, which a tablespoon could probably be safely eaten, but it's the breads that you eat it with ...
enjoy your vacation!

Counts for yesterday:
Protein: 160
Carbs: 30ish
Total Cals: good, slightly low, but in the range.
Water: Not a problem.
Frantic at work. But got things done, so that's okay. We got some high praise from the folks in Philly, for whom we've taken over the finance business. My boss and his boss made the trip and were embarrassed for the praise we were getting in front of the folks who used to manage finance in Philly. We were given an 11 on a scale of 1-10 in terms of service and how well the transition lived up to the promises. We got a nice meeting to share that, and the acting assistant secy sent us a message about how great we are. Was nice.
