We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.
C.S. Lewis
For years, I tried different roads and I am convinced that PP is the right road for me, now, at this time in my life. I've done a lot of about-turns in the past! Do you feel like you're on the right road?
Good morning! Breakfast will be a protein shake. Lunch will be a meat casserole that I made yesterday. Dinner will probably be pot roast.
Have a great day, my friends! :)

Great quote Carol, yes I could be a tour guide of the world and all it's roads! :D Some of them bumpy, none of them getting to the true place I wanted to be. But the PP highway is by far the best, enjoy the ride!
Today will be a latte and probably egg, cheese and LC toast.
Not sure about lunch
But dinner is romaine lettuce salad, with chicken breast, cheese, a few apple slices on top. Might put on a couple of dried cranberries for color. See what else the refrig will give up for it all.
Have a great Monday!

Morning all...
I'm still half asleep, and that was with going to be early too. :(
Breakfast was a shake
Lunch is leftover Mac & Cheese and a bit of romaine with caesar dressing
Dinner will be meatloaf, peas (very carefully measured) and salad.
Have cheese for my "at work" snack. Not sure what I'll have mid-afternoon... taking DD1 to work with me today and she'll want to be taken out afterwards as "payment" (she says lunch but it will be well past my lunchtime). Will see where she wants to go and get something small and packed with protein, instead of my normal tuna and almonds.
Hope everyone has a happy Monday.... or is that an oxymoron?

I am the mistress of U-turns! Both literally and figuratively. At times, nutritionally, I've done loop de loops, but always come back to Protein Power. I think I was one of the first kids on the block to get the book when it first came out, and am so glad I found this WOE. Detours, yes. But I do come back.
Breakfast was a trial of a Carb Check bagel-- 17 ECC, so definitely for maintainers or those close to it, but with a whopping 19 grams fiber, and 12 grams protein, it just was irrestible. And tasted great with cream cheese. Lunch will be chili and a salad, and supper will be apple, cheese, and wine. I'll need to get a CarbMaster yogurt in there somewhere to keep protein up, but that will be no problem. Should also get my sunshine fix in today, so 'twill be a great day!
Have a good one, everybody. :)

Can definitely relate to uturns and roads with lots of roudabouts which lead to weird places and back. PP has been a great surprise for me and it has given me a stable place to come home to.
Becca, had to get out my dictionary to remember what oxymoron was...heavens it's been a long time since I heard that one.:o Mondays for me are oxy (tons of work outside and in) and moron because only a moron would stay outdoors in 2°C temperatures to schlepp branches and clean weeds. It was not an opitional job today. Time is pressing because my guests will be here on Sunday and I can't have the place looking abandoned.
Meals today have been wonderful:
breakfast 2 HB eggs and bacon
Lunch - home grown chicken and coleslaw
Dinner - more chicken and more coleslaw
Snacks - scones
supplements - of course
Exercise - outdoors schlepping and indoors heavy housework
Water - 1.5 liters

Alrightly...I am back on the right road after having a terrible weekend with food. I have learned my lesson this time and have promised myself that I will never feel that way again. I completely binged on carbs and physically got ill afterwards because I literally over ate. This must be the low point I needed to really commit to healthy eating. Today, although I am suffering from a food hangover, I am trying to put a smile on my face knowing that I will never experience that pain again and am looking towards the future to loose weight and be healthly.
Thanks for letting me vent.
Happy Monday everyone!!

Bingeing is a problem and there are lots of people who can remember their last binge and the day they reached a turning point. Right now, at this moment, you are following PP.

...And avoid the potholes, right? :D Your salad sounds delish!
Hope everyone has a happy Monday.... or is that an oxymoron?:paranoid: Not necessarily, but I remain wary!

Yes, I think stability is one of the best benefits. When I'm on carbs, I'm just looking for my next meal. This is very freeing!
It's been a good Monday so far. Got the daily stuff on it's way and I hope to be able to concentrate on the budget this afternoon. My bag is packed for the gym and I'm planning to change up my routine, based on a conversation I had last night with DS.

"Life is a Highway" and I am glad I am on the right one with the support I need to stay on it.
I am a pound and 1/2 up this morning, will tons of cold meds and not enough water to that???? I ate very close to plan and had tons of exercise over the last 4 days! I did consume a couple of drinks.......well I know what I need to do and even though I still have the cold I am trying to increase the water level today. I already have 1 liter in.
Today is a holiday in central Canada, no school!!!! We have friends coming over with the all the kidlets to have a family movie night. It is also a pot luck dinner. I need groceries bad, tomorrows plan so for tonight I think I will be contributing wings and devilled eggs.
Breakfast: can of sardines in mustard
lunch: protein shake with apple and cinnamon
Dinner: pot luck snacks (good choices)

Hi all, yep I've taken several different roads in my life too. This is by far the most satisfying and long lasting one I have traveled on.
I plan to stay on this one for my weight, for my health, and to be an example to my family--some who really need the support.
Hang in there Heather, I've been exactly where you are today. It isn't pleasant but it does stay with you and help you make wiser choices in the future. I went crazy the very first Thanksgiving I was on PP. and paid for 2 days with flu like symptoms. Now, I can be perfectly happy celebrating Thanksgiving with foods that are good for me. Like I said, just hang in there !!

Thank you, thank you! I just cannot wait til the end of the week for this feeling to be over!!! I am determined to hang in there this time :)
Quick check in...been walking all day, which is good because I have had a slice of regular bread and a few dried apricots. HOWEVER, considering all I am faced with (carb-wise), I'm doing fantastic!!
Off to buy some stamps for postcards, and back to finish the supper I said I'd prepare...tater tot hotdish (no tots for me) - a true Minnesota casserole!

I am exhausted.. and I've been hungry all day it seems. Managed to squeak in under my carbs, but just barely. Dunno what got into me today. Tired and hungry are not a good combination, but I didn't cave!
Final numbers:
Protein: 152
Carbs: 55
Water: 112
Supps: nope - we ended up eating out for dinner
Heather we're here for you! Don't give up. I too know exactly how you're feeling. You can do this! :D

Managed to squeak in under my carbs, but just barely. Hey! Barely is just fine! What's wrong with staying within your carb limit? You done good, Becca.
Went to the gym, the car repair and the butcher after work. I pan-fried some pork chops for dinner along with rice and green beans. The rice was a side dish for the boys.
I am hobbling tonight.

Oh I'm glad I did, just suprised. I figured with all I ate I was bound to be over, though not by much. This was one time when eating out helped cuz the planned meal at home would've put me over for certain (simply because my meatloaf has carbs).
Course if I was being true to induction (or phase 1 or whatever) I'm over every day as I set my max a bit higher than that, though not by much. :)
Now I'm off to bed... it got late!

I dislike the road metaphor. Roads inevitably end somewhere. Even I-80, the road that connects New York to San Francisco endsis a mere 2800 miles long. You can go end to end in 3-4 days of hard driving.
I'm working on a better metaphor.
Today was another day of life, another day on plan. If it's all a road, this road is sometimes a bit like Kansas or Oklahoma.
long long long day...I'm exhausted.
Avoided the ice cream that everyone else had. Avoided all the snacks that everyone else had.
A good day...except for my hip. But you can't have everything, right?

My motto is, "Do what you can, when you can." :)
Might I make a recommendation:
:D:D:D.I have an earlier model, but I'm going to get that beanbag accessory, now that I see it. I used to use a train metaphor. I felt like I was on this train leading to sedentary old age with ill health like some relatives. I wasn't driving the train, but it was heading for the station. So I jumped off!
