If you're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.
Michael Jordan
What’s your most tenacious obstacle? What do you run into again and again that stands in your way? How are you going to tackle it this time?
Breakfast for me will be a protein shake. Lunch will probably be roast beef because I’ll be eating at home today. Dinner remains to be seen, but chicken is a possibility. I’ve got several choices in the freezer.

Love the quote for today!
Figured out why (or a factor in why) I was so tired yesterday... I had forgotten to take my medicine (for my asthma) in the morning. I'm sure the cloudy/rainy day contributed too, but I'm always run down if I forget my pills... must have something to do with the lack of oxygen ;)
Still tired this morning though, bad storms last night and then I woke up too early. :( Sipping some hot tea right now, hopefully that will kick start me.
Breakfast will be a shake
AM Snack is cheese
Lunch is what's left of my mac & cheese as well as what's left of the salmon patties. Will be a very high protein meal, but neither alone is really enough food. I thought the M&C would be, but after having it a few times solo I find I'm hungry after 1.5-2 hours even with all the protein. I think Dreamfields is out for me for a while.
Afternoon snack will be tuna and almonds (am out of Lindt and think I will NOT replace it for a while)
Dinner should finally be the meatloaf that's been scheduled for days ;) I think the trick will be to get it made (though not cooked) shortly after I get home from work, rather than waiting til dinner time when I'm usually too tired to think.
It was very quiet around here yesterday, hope everyone is doing okay!

Hey campers!
Yesterday was the day from hell, and I made it through relatively good, with two glasses of Riesling, which is loaded with carbs but after the day with co-workers was very good!
Today in car about 8 hours, two meetings sandwiched inbetween.
Since Lent starts next week I have decided I am going to do 40 days without Starbucks! Now if you know me, you know this is a biggy! Not that I don't have the worlds best barista at home but on the road so much I do enjoy a latte to keep my engines perking. I am going to take the difference I would have spent and put it in our travel jar---we might be able to go for a trip around the world on the savings! :D
I am also going for 40 days of NEAN and exercise! YIKES just kill me now!

Hrm, obstacles. Overconfidence. Definitely. You get into the flow and you start to push at the edges, because it's working so well, and you know a little fudging around the edges isn't gonna muck it up. Except that the little becomes a little more and then, you are off program and for me, getting back is hard. At any rate, the plan is to keep a running tally of on days against total days. And define on strictly. I can do it. Or is that the overconfidence speaking?
Work today. I am still tired. One of these nights, I will get the restorative sleep I hear about.

Becca, yes I think restricted oxygen would give you that tired effect! No wonder you were dragging!
Billie, are you setting yourself up for Lent, girl? :paranoid: Good luck! Congrats on making it through yesterday!
Max, good luck on the restorative sleep. As you know, it's not as simple as just getting to bed on time. Although, that's a start!
My day has been all switched around. Breakfast was coffee and turkey/sausage/broccoli casserole instead of a shake. Ya never know!
Well, I had my honey tree meal last night...and it was VERY good! But my body is not very happy today.:o
So this morning I'm having pure protein, then hiking, then heading to the spa.

A big obstacle for me is making myself find the time to exercise. I know I'm retired and all, but honestly I do believe there are only 15 hours in my days instead of 24. ;);) Don't know where the time goes.
Exercise is very important to me because of my blood pressure. I can tell by the numbers on my bp cuff when I slough off for a week or two. I need to do it , must do it, but somehow always find myself behind some obstacle (self-husband-kids-grandkids-volunteering-other obligations and etc). So easy to let something lead me away from what I know helps me.:confused:
I am at the point I don't like to miss one day, for fear I just won't ever go back to it (How many times in my life have I done that very thing !!!) So now I'm O/C I guess.:eek:

Billie, it sounds like you have set yourself a formidable goal for Lent. Nean will help you, it's good to have a plan. I think folks that have a lot of traveling to do really are at a disadvantage , but I know you will do it !!

You got that right! Also doesn't help, I'm sure, that one of the meds is theophylline, which is like caffine in the body. In fact the lit that comes with it says to avoid all caffine products (including chocolate ). I can actually manage some caffine, but not much (about 2 glasses of tea worth) without getting the shakes. Probably because my theo. levels (when tested) come in below the "norm" but when she tries to up my med level my BP skyrockets and I get the shakes so bad I can't hold anything.
So doing better today, though still EXHAUSTED. I woke up way too early. :( I did manage to get the meatloaf in the pan, and have an alarm set to tell me when to get it in the oven so dinner is set (and subbing LC friendly green beans for the peas that I would actually have to carefully measure).
Will post the numbers later, but I'm on track. :D

Hello, gang. I've been away a couple of days. My "venison friend" called and I needed to go pick up my year's supply of Bambi. Actually a Bambette. I now have 50 + lbs. of wild venison in my freezer. Yummy! :)
I'll be back in an hour or so to get caught up on reading the posts -- after I check and respond to Prayer Beads orders. Cheers!

Becca, I'm glad you planned the meatloaf. I have a kitchen timer that I use even to remind myself to go stir the soup!
BC, how nice you got the venison! That's better than free-range beef, isn't it? We didn't get any this year. I have a co-worker who brings some in every time he finds a new sauce or rub, so it's a tease.
Amy, if you're hiking you must be feeling better?
I am at the point I don't like to miss one day, for fear I just won't ever go back to it (How many times in my life have I done that very thing !!!) So now I'm O/C I guess.I'm with you, Karole. One of the reasons I start new things slowly is that my style in the past was to jump in enthusiastically and wreck myself; I heal up too slow nowadays. Having to sit for a week would be dangerous for me.
Three successful doctor visits today! The blood work was stellar. The new orthotics are in my shoes. My muscles have been stretched and pulled and generally worked over. He can always find things that didn't seem to be a problem until he notices them.

My biggest obstacle is myself, especially poor thinking -- "I can't do this..." or I'm too old for this...." On the latter, I found a fabulous broomstick skirt at a thrift shop for $2.50 -- all jewel tones with teal, magenta, purple, orange, yellow on a black background. These used to be "my colours". I purchased it, when when trying it on last night, thought, "Am I even allowed to wear these bright colours, after all I am now 60 years old!" Yikes! Where did that thinking come from? I need to dig out the poem about wearing purple in old age and stick it on the 'fridge.
Ended the day over on ECCs -- due to my stopping at Church's fried chicken on the way back from San Antonio. But my weight is holding pretty steady, so perhaps it's time to increase the ECCs to another level? Need to ponder that one.

Very high sodium as I did a double serve of the almonds, smokehouse almonds. Need to get back to Marconas, which requires a trip to Costco or Trader Joes. Will see where the weekend takes me.
Otherwise, Thursday was day 48/49 on program, or 98% compliance.
Protein: 180
Carbs: 18
Cals: Highish for me, but still on target. I should define my target range better. It's a loose concept of about 600 calories.
Water: No problem.
One day done, another lined up.
