A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow.
General George S. Patton
Start where you are and make a plan for today. That may involve shopping for the right food, getting rid of the food that might tempt you away from your plan (even if it’s “good yet”), writing your plan down on paper, or any of the other helpful tools we discuss on this board.
What's up with you this weekend?:)
It's only 9:24pm here, but I'm glad you started the thread today cause I won't have time to post tomorrrow until late.
It was not such a good day. I'm tired of being with people that expect you to eat with them, then serve only carbs.
I don't eat, then I'm starving and then I don't make good (not awful, just not what I would normally choose) choices. Then because I'm fighting carb cravings, I allowed myself a scone today. Didn't even fight it.
*sigh*
So, tomorrow we're on our own. We leave the resort and drive back to Seattle. We go alone, just GF and I. We can do what we want, when we want. And.I.CAN'T.WAIT!!

Good morning Carol and Amy, and those who will follow. Amy, I'm so sorry to hear of your struggles about food. You'd think in today's health conscious world, folks would provide more selections, but I run into the same thing time after time. Like you, I resist and then after a time will often give in. Keep the faith -- you'll do fine in the long run.
Great quote, Carol. I'm such a procrastiner that I often put off planning "until tomorrow", which of course, never comes. My plan for today is to eat POP (perfectly on plan). Not because of weight issues :) but because I've allowed myself to eat unbalanced these past few day since my weight stabilized. Yesterday, for instance, I didn't get in a since veggie (!) not one. So today will be a high veggie day, starting with a glass of V-8 at breakfast.
So my plan is LC cereal, V-8 juice. Lunch will be HB patty smothered in mushrooms, asparagus, salad, and dark chocolate . Dinner: turkey breast, cheese, apple and wine. Yummy!
Have a great Saturday, folks.
Good morning ladies figured i would drop in before i head to bed. Had turkey on the grill this morning a guy from work made it on a weber it was great. I guess there are some advantages to working nights. Cooked a bunch of meat yesterday so wont have to much cooking to do this weekend. Sorry to hear about your dilemma Amy hopefully someday the shoe will be on the other foot as they say. Well off to nana land hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi all, well, my plans aren't for outdoors today, as they say the temps are going to drop and a dab of snow is on the way. Ugh. But it to be very short lived and next week we will have it in the 60's again so I guess we can get by this cold snap okay. But-- I still don't have to like it !!
I am going to make some kind of treat-- I think it will be the muffins with flax meal in them. The recipe makes 12 and they keep well --so that will be my plan --to have a treat ready and waiting whenever I want/need it.
I'll check in later to see how everyone is doing. Ciao--Hmmm wonder where Puddin is for the past couple of days???

Morning all... I was up at 4 (very surprised to see a thread for the weekend at that hour!) but not very coherent ;) Held out til 8, then took a nap, now I'm as awake as I ever am.
No damage on the scale from yesterday's slip so that's good.
I've had a cup of tea and my shake already this morning. Not really sure what the rest of the food will be, depends on how the day goes. It WILL be LC friendly though.
I have outdoor and indoor stuff to do today so am starting on the indoor til DH is up and about so he can help outdoors. I sense that I will be nagging most of the day. ;)
Will check back in later!

I'm tired of being with people that expect you to eat with them, then serve only carbs.Amy, I find that the best people to eat with are the ones who have some kind of diet restrictions, which makes them aware that someone else might have them also. When I get together with my gluten-free friend we eat VERY well!
My plan for today is to eat POP (perfectly on plan). Not because of weight issues :) but because I've allowed myself to eat unbalanced these past few day since my weight stabilized.Hi, BC! I'm glad you're returning to some normalcy. Your menu sounds great!
Had turkey on the grill this morning a guy from work made it on a weber it was great. I guess there are some advantages to working nights. Cooked a bunch of meat yesterday so wont have to much cooking to do this weekend. Thanks for dropping in, LBJ. I would love to try that grilled turkey. One Thanksgiving we were treated to turkey that was smoked on a grill and it was to die for! Grilled anything is a treat for me.
I am going to make some kind of treat-- I think it will be the muffins with flax meal in them. The recipe makes 12 and they keep well --so that will be my plan --to have a treat ready and waiting whenever I want/need it.
Good morning, Karole. :) The muffins sound good. I'm staying home today because we're having a ton of the white stuff dropped on our heads. :p I'm missing a jam, but it's not worth risking my life for. (I must be getting old here!) I was wondering about Puddin too; in fact, she's part of the reason I started the thread so early. I was up late, so why not? Got Amy and Becca, so it was a good thing.
I've had a cup of tea and my shake already this morning. Not really sure what the rest of the food will be, depends on how the day goes. It WILL be LC friendly though. Good start, Becca. I'm glad somebody can get outside today. Amy would like my weather, I'm sure.
I had an interesting AHA! moment yesterday. I mentioned that I am in a stall. I've been mentally checking my food habits and wondering where to tweak. I drink coffee at home with cream. At work, all we have is those little non-dairy liquid creamer cups, which are 6 carbs each--not a problem because I am usually well within my ecc goal. I realized that my coffee consumption has gone way up at work and I'm consuming four to six of those little guys a DAY! That's my whole day's carb allotment! I think the creamer may even be part of the reason I've been drinking more coffee. I'm going to bring in a carton of real cream on Monday and skip the frankencream. I can't believe I let that happen. FitDay didn't help because I didn't add it in when it was just one.
Off to get some bills paid! Drinking coffee with cream and hazelnut davinci. :D Feeling decadent.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts.
One of the other invited spouses also does lc (Atkins), but gave up on the first night. He is actually staying WITH everyone else (we have our own condo) so he's screwed. Here is what I was faced with last night.
They ground ONE pound of ground turkey for the taco buffet for ELEVEN people!
Yea, it was rediculous. I got a tablespoon of meat.
I'm starting my day with lc scones, then we will eat brunch from our fridge. I have hot dogs, cheese, and frozen grapes. Not bad.
We'll be traveling over the border today...could take quite some time. Will be great to be back on my own terms regarding food and how I spend my time! WOOHOOOOOO
Carol, I'm glad you figured something out! I always feel so much better when I can pinpoint something and make a change!

Passing through... just paid the bills :crybaby: so time for another nag (this well be #3 - one per hour since 9:00! he's still in bed).
When was Puddin's trip to the states? Perhaps that's why she's MIA.
I'm hungry too.. was about to blame it on waking up so early, but now that I think about it 11:00 is my weekday "snack time" so I guess I'm back on track even though I had my shake a lot earlier than normal. :D
Will check in later......

Don't you love those AHA moments, Carol? It becomes so blindingly clear so suddenly and you think ...what the heck!!
I seem to do that quite a bit, myself. Glad you figured it out, cuz I think those artificial creamers are also full of the hydrogentated junk and that's not good for any of us. You'll love having your cream at work. (By the way, sorry you are missing out on your Jam session today, I know you were looking forward to that)
Just finished my exercise session so I need to get over there and report to her Shadowness for the day. See you later everyone.

Good morning to all,
it sure is nice to see a the familiar faces. Greetings to all of you! I am still around just dont get my butt to post often enough.
Life has been good and I am ready for spring. My birthday is one week out and right around this time I change into SPING mood. lol. every year, kinda funny.
PP has been good to me and I am working it. Had a bad slip this week but was right back on track with the next meal. Stress seams to put me over the edge when it comes to falling off the PP ride.
I am so excited to be chosen to attend the annual Children' Justice Conference in Seattle. This is a one of a kind conference and seats are very desirable, so I was very pleasantly surprised that my Sup offered it to me because I am HR (recruiter for mainly Social Workers). So i have something to look forward to. yeah.
Well, i am off to get some brekki and get the day started. Sausages and low carb wrap which i toast crispy, spead butter on it and sprinkle splenda and cinnamon on it. ( might sound weird to some but I call it my efelant:D ear. lol.
Take care all, see ya again

Anette, I never thought of that! Sounds good if you were craving something sweet. I think DH could like that!:D
Today, will be a good lc day. Plenty of good food in the house. It seems real cozy with all the snow.
BF: 1 piece lc french toast, 2 eggs, 1 piece sausage
lunch: chicken in a flatout bread
Dinner: pork in a flatout
Have a great weekend!

Glad you figured it out, cuz I think those artificial creamers are also full of the hydrogentated junk and that's not good for any of us.You're right, Karole. I had labeled it "harmless" when it was "just one" and forgotten to upgrade it to "hazardous". Good for you for having your exercise done already! Shadow will be so pleased! ;)

I've noticed stress is quite a common pitfall, Anette. Just when we think we've got it figured out, a new one comes along. How nice that you get to attend the exclusive conference. Exciting! ...and your "elephant ear" breakfast is very creative!

Congratulations on being chosen to go to the conference. In my part of the world, what you describe as a treat are called "buneulos" -- a crispy tortilla-type dough with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top. Really delish. Upon reading your post, I realise I can make them with Joseph's Lavish bread since that puffs up like the authentic buneulos. Looks like I'll have to change my menu for today!

That does sound good doesn't it !! I have been staying away from all grain type products this month (as part of my challenge) just to see if I notice any difference in how I feel or what ever, so I will have to wait to try that one. But March is just around the corner so I can wait.
We just had a few great big flakes this morning and that was it--sooooo glad.
Protein today: 105 ecc 37

Reporting in for the evening.
I am so sore! Raked in the front yard for probably close to an hour (if not possibly more). My legs are screaming at me! I would've expected my arms/shoulders to be very sore, but they're not (just starting to have dull ache). Can't imagine raking doing much for the legs, but my thighs are really burning.
I did a very good thing at dinner tonight too, so proud of myself :D When I was called to the table (DH cooks) I saw that he had already put a biscuit on my plate. I promptly removed it and put it back on the pan with the rest of the extras. It would've fit in my daily carbs, but was way too much for 1 meal (24 in the single biscuit).
I was actually surprised when I added up my carbs today, had to do it twice (and realized I'd left a couple of things off fitday - almond butter and broccoli that were on my sheet). I expected to have a lot of protein as well, but it's right near my quota.
And today is officially 21/28 so I met my goal! Will be at Target on Tuesday to get my reward. :D
Totals for the day:
Protein: 139
Carbs: 28
Water: 128
Supps: yes

Becca, that's great news that you met your goal already! It's been a good month for you, hasn't it? I'll bet your muscles will be sassing you tomorrow!
I'm heading for bed. Too tired to count, but I'm pretty sure I stayed under my ecc goal. I had greek yogurt mixed with frozen blueberries, sf jello and crushed almonds for dinner. Then again, my snack was four slices of Fuji apple, a slice of smoked gouda and some smoked almonds that DH made for me. Very gourmet and delicious, but I didn't consider the apples when I made my first statement. :p

Hi all--is everyone still napping? I thought I was sleeping in this morning !! lol
Just finished a delicious breakfast --an omelet with cheese, bacon, green pepper, onion and mushrooms in it. It was sooooo fluffy, filling and fantastic. And just look how many veggiess I have in already today. Win-win. Love this "diet" !!
Well, sleeping beauties- I'm off to get some housework done--the washing seems to have piled up while I wasn't looking , so that has to be a priority this morning. Byeeee.

My dear, when you were posting in your nice warm house, I was out with DH moving three vehicles to the street so the snowplow guy could do a good job on the driveway! DS was still sleeping so I found his keys and hopped into his truck. It's been a while since I drove a stick and I couldn't get it started, though I had it in neutral. I suspected the battery, but DH came over and pointed out that I had to have the clutch pushed in. At least my Blazer is all warmed up for church.
So far, I've had coffee with cream and I'm about to enjoy the turkey/sausage/broccoli casserole I made last weekend. Today I will make a similar dish using the cauliflower in my fridge. Might use bacon instead of sausage, since I've got some good stuff.
It's still snowing gently and once in a while we get encouraging peeks from the sun.

Karole I am not napping, have already been to the gym! It feels good to get done what I had as a priority for the day, ;)
We may got out for breakfast this morning, that would be lovely. Snowy and cold here and both Gabe and I have lots of work to do on the computer. Gabe is reviving the chicken breast coated in spiced sour cream and then coated in pork rinds for dinner tonight recipe, I believe from the Eades cook book. We haven't had that in a long time.
Have a great Sunday everyone!

02-22-2009, 12:05 PM
I stand corrected (at least from you two non-nappers !!) :D:D
I imagine there are a few others that are up and about doing things before they check in here. I'm just not used to being here first and I felt lonely.;)
Carol, how much snow did you all actually accummulate yesterday?? I don't do well with stick shifts either. Thank goodness we don't have any of them around the place or I would be grinding those gears at some point I'm sure.
Billie, I hope you all had a great breakfast out today. We went out last night and I didn't have to cook. I had a taco salad without the shell. It was very good. I hate to cook anymore.--it's not really the cooking, its the figuring out what to have that gets me.
Got my exercise over and one with so I am ready for the rest of the day--probably reading my book, and sewing more on my quilt. --And living a protein power day. See you all later.

Karole, you weren't too far off; I was sipping coffee and blinking in my chair when the guy showed up. I had to move quickly, which is not on my agenda for a weekend morning!
We got less snow than expected. No more than five inches, if that. The sun has been showing up occasionally today and the city streets are just wet and a little sloppy. Yesterday the State Police were urging everyone to stay off the roads. It's starting to act a little more like Spring!
I stopped after church and bought some Boar's Head roast beef, sliced for sandwiches. Paid dearly for it, too! I am being more aware of the chemicals in deli meats.
Now I have to go chop up that cauliflower for lunches this week. I don't like that chore, but the casserole is SO good!

Hello, all. Well I tried the Joseph's Lavish bread "buneulo" this morning and it's a keeper. I sprayed a 1/4 sheet of bread with oil, microwaved until crispy and sprinkled erythritol and cinnamon on it. The sprinkles didn't stick, so next time, I'll spray it again with oil when it's crispy. It almost tasted like the real thing. Although it's been so long since I had the real thing, my memory has faded.
Am heading outside to clean up after yesterday's norther blew through. It's amazing what ends up where after 40+ MPH winds. At least there will be lots of kindling scattered around for the heater.
Am on-plan today -- CarbMaster yogurt for breakfast with blackberries and the "buneulo", turkey, cheese, asparagus, and cucumber for lunch. Just finished a couple of squares of dark chocolate. Supper will be apple, cheese and wine. My suppers are really in a rut, but I enjoy them so much.

cleaned my desk off, organized this gift I got myself (52 $10 of $25 purchase at 52 local restaurants... cost $30... we're 1/3rd of the way to break even, and we have coupons for 2 places we go regularly anyway... Seems like a good deal for people who eat out regularly anyway). and got basically organized this AM.
Scale read <220 for the first time in over a year, so I'm making progress. In 30 days, I will be on a plane for Paris (where I will undo some progress, no doubt). but I am still at one off day for the year (2 if you count New Year's Day, which I'm not because I started on the 2nd). That is 50/51 or 98.04%. Today is my chance to go 51/52, or 98.08%. With a goal of 95% for the year, I have to stock up for vacation.

Looks like everyone had a good weekend. So did I. I got through most of my list, even though I was sidetracked for a while by a movie DS was watching. Just took my casserole out of the oven. This time I made it with 1.5# ground turkey and 1# good bacon (less what the kid snitched). Found a quicker way of cutting up the cauli and used cream of celery soup and sour cream as the glue.
The Geezer smelled the bacon cooking so I had to cook some more for his dinner. Plus mashed potatoes and gravy. :p Yes, I snitched some mashed potatoes and probably screwed up my carb count for today. :(
I may be back later tonight. I'm still surfing....

Hi, ya'll,
Congrats, BEcca on reaching your goal.
Started grad school last week, so busy. Even though I have been MIA, I have been on plan.
Last week, we celebrated 36 years together, me and hubby. He cooked dinner at home, on plan. I appreciated that so much.
Today, MIL's birthday, went to her favorite restaurant, but I stayed on plan, grilled catfish, green beans, some sweet potatoes, tea, the others split a desert, luckily for me, I don't like what they do!
I am still working to get more veggies into my daily food intake, but hanging in there.
Will try to post more in the coming week.

Evenin' all. I was up and at 'em early, just didn't post any good mornings. Been kinda zoned today. And very sore, shoulders hurting today.
Breakfast was a shake
Lunch soup with added chicken (and my cheese that I didn't get as a snack cuz I was too hungry to wait for it to cook!)
Tuna and a piece of cheese toast (whole wheat bread 8 ECCS) for snack
Flat Iron steak, salad and pumpkin stuff for dinner
Am stuffed and tired! I start my new "month" tomorrow, will be a 5 week stretch for me this time which will end closer to the real month and get me more back on track with everyone else.

Okay folks I'm back again and more determined than ever to get this weight down! Fell off the wagon big time last year. Hubby dealt with prostate cancer and found comfort in food. As the supportive wife, I ate right along with him. Then had a physical in January, my BP was up and total cholesterol was over 300. Hubby needs to loose 100lbs and me 50. He is into counting calories and obeying strict eating rules as in how many hours between meals and only eating 3 meals a day. I want to follow PP, I know it will bring down my BP and cholesterol, it has before. I want off the meds, taking 3 different meds for the BP and one for the cholesterol.
And now I am looking at having to have an hysterectomy.
I just need support since Hubby and I are clashing some over our eating plans because I'm not loosing as fast as he is. Our biggest disagreement is my bedtime snack. I don't eat as much at a meal as he does, prefer to have a small evening snack. He has acid-reflux and can't eat before bed. If I go to bed hungry I can't sleep and wake up feeling awful. He says I'm hurting myself, that all the research says you shouldn't eat before going to bed. I'm not eating a 5 course meal, just a snack, like yogurt or cheese toast 30-60 minutes before going to bed.
Hello all!
I am SO glad to be home! Not only because it was such a "painful" vacation (I can finally move my shoulder again), but I lost touch with recording, then watching, then caring about what I ate! UGH.
I just allowed stupid things...like a pastry in the morning...and the full bun with lunch. I didn't do things like eat ice cream, or order mashed potatoes, but still. I was not on plan.
BUT vacation is over.
I have planned my meals for tomorrow and did some cooking today so it's ready for me. I have more to do tomorrow so I'm ready for the rest of the week, but tomorrow is set.
I will step on the scale tomorrow...I need to know where I'm at.
I stepped on it tonight (207.5) but I had just eaten supper.
Who knows...maybe I did gain 10lbs while on vacation?? I certainly have in the past .
Going to bed now...I'll be here every day again. My work sale happens on Wednesday, so I might be crazy busy Mon-Wed, but then life should (SHOULD) slow down for me.
Oh, my new avatar is me in front of an inukshuk (the official symbol of the 2010 Olympics). This one is located on Whistler mountain.

What's your goal for your new month, Becca? Five weeks won't be so bad if you take it one week at a time.

I can't cite any studies, but I'll bet Max can! Second: A bedtime snack as you describe is possibly a good tool to keep your blood sugar evened out, especially if dinner was more than four hours earlier. Your plan and his plan are like apples and oranges. They can't be compared in that manner. If you have a PP book, maybe he could read the first part in order to understand what you're doing?
I am SO glad to be home! Not only because it was such a "painful" vacation (I can finally move my shoulder again), but I lost touch with recording, then watching, then caring about what I ate! What's your goal for your new month, Becca? Five weeks won't be so bad if you take it one week at a time.
Protein and carbs will remain at the levels they are now, the goal is to stick to that for 28 of the 35 days.
I'm adding exercise, in baby steps. 3 days per week for the 5 weeks. At least 11/15 (but still spread out so that it's at least 2 x week).
Now the trick is to fit the exercise in the meal schedule... supposed to work out on an empty stomach, not supposed to eat for 1 hour after, dunno when I'm gonna have breakfast at that rate  Gonna have to think about that some.
