Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
Winston Churchill

Here we begin the last week of the February Challenge. The challenge may end, but the work will not. We will continue to plan and to execute our plans as well as we can.

So…….What will you keep doing because it helped your progress? Did the challenge help? Did the feedback help? Is this more than a chat room?

Breakfast will be a strawberry shake. Lunch will be that marvelous casserole I made yesterday. Dinner is still only a theory at this point, but I've got a lot to choose from.

Happy Monday everyone! Sieze the day!

Morning all!

I've been up for an hour and am still not awake  I really hate feeling tired all the time.

Breakfast was a shake; I have cheese, baby carrots and a turkey/roast beef (always Boar's Head on any deli meat, I don't trust any other brand) wrap packed for work, will have tuna and almonds this afternoon, dinner is "Italian chicken" and a salad.

Decided (see my last post in the weekend thread) that I'll just have my breakfast at my "normal" time (7:30) and do my exercises at 8:30ish, if I try to wait to have breakfast til an hour after exercise (and there is no way to exercise til after everyone else is out of the house) then I'd be eating breakfast at 10:00, that just won't do, I'd crash. That will put me going in to work quite a bit later as well, but most of the time I have nothing much to do when I first get there anyway, I have to wait on paperwork. May have to tweak some things, but I'll give this a try for now.

My, you are up and at 'em early this morning, Carol. Thanks for that marvellous quote from "Winnie". I was chosen to greet him once when he visited my hometown. I was all of 5, so don't remember much except all the training in learning to curtsy correctly -- deep curtsy because of his prominence. I do remember getting nervous and ending up with a little bob instead. My mother was mortified! How many girls today learn to curtsy, I wonder! Times they do change.

The daily check-in helps me a lot. I am ending the challenge on-task and have enjoyed the "plus 1" aspect of it. The quotes are really inspirational and I thank you for all the work you've done at leading us on. :)

It's supposed to be a perfect day here weatherwise (except we are in dire need of rain). I'll be outside most of the day getting a good dose of sunshine whilst working. Breakfast was cottage cheese/protein powder/blackberries & a little Fiber One. Lunch will be turkey, asparagus, and salad. Chocolate somewhere in there, then my normal supper of cheese, apple, and wine along with a bit of summer sausage I purchased yesterday on sale.

Have a great day, everyone! :)

Hi all, yes Carol I really like the quote too !! The first part about "Sucess is not final" certainly rings true to my ears because I remember all too well the first go-round I had with PP.

I did just great losing the weight but once I reached my goal I sort of let my reaching goal be "final" and was a miserable failure at maintenance.

This time I am going one day at a time, trying to maintain the sucess. I actually did reach my original goal of 140, but decided to lower it to 135 and am working on getting there. Seem to be bouncing around an awful lot but that's okay, and fairly normal I would think.

So yes, I love the quote --sucess not final and failure not fatal--just think how many of us here are returnees who have learned from prior experience ! We have the courage to continue . We did bounce back!! Yayyyyy for us!!

BC , I can just see that little girl (you) bobbing to Churchill. How cute.

Well, I'm off to please her Shadowness with some exercise . See you later.

Carol, you asked if the challenge and posting helps and yes it does. I know it does as that was one of the ways I went wrong in my first attempt at making this woe a life style not a diet.

I quit coming here so I quit being accountable. I didn't stop and think about what I was doing to myself and just ignored any and all of the knowledge I had about carbs, protein and fat.

If you are here each day, you can't ignore it--we may not be on target 100% of the time, but we are at least acknowledging that we know better and are planning to stay the course.

I won't make that mistake again. I'm staying here with you guys !!

I'm so glad I cooked some cauli-turkey casserole last night.
And I have some hamburger out, so meals are set today. I needed that!

Got to work an hour later than usual, and have over 90 emails I couldn't deal with while out of town...ugh...so gotta get busy.

8:45am cauli-turkey casserole
12:30pm lc lasagna, 3oz pickles
3pm iced latte, sb bar
6:30pm 3.5oz burger, lc bread, mayo, 2/3cup green beans

The quotes of Churchill and the Roosevelts are some of my favorite. There is so much in the words of warriors.

I am off to a good start. Have already been to the gym and did about 40 minutes of straight cardio. Enjoying a starbucks before Wednesday...ah it will be a long 40 days and 40 nights! :)

Well, here I am in the saddle again. That quote was really put in there for me after the last weekend - no internet, no connection with the world, tons of really superb bread brought into the house. Gee, since success is not final and failure is not fatal the only thing that is left after having gorged on that wonderful bread is to say

BLECHHHH!!!!!

I'm really looking forward to feeling courageous and lean and mean - all of which I feel when following PP to the letter. In any case, today the damage was only bloat - like the Goodyear blimp kind of bloat. So I'm doing tons of water and having a protein feast at each meal, limiting the ECC today because it would be deadly to think that I need to even have 3 after all that flour.

Carted wood, carried branches, did all my country exercising. Now I just need to work day by day to continue PP without falling off the wagon. Obviuosly that luncheon with my 20 friends from Turin didn't help. Did all those antipasto salads which I posted. Put out prosciutto crudo and salami, made roasted boar rump...and then DH came home with that d--- -ned bread. Oh well. today is another day

Off to read the things I've missed!:D

Is this more than a chat room?
I hope so, because it's not a very chatty chat room. :D

It's personal accountability. Coming here makes me do fitday. Fitday makes me accountable to me. And really, you are the only one who can really hold you accountable.

It's better to eat something before you work out, then eat some protein after. If you're doing shakes, drink half before, half after. Easy, peasy. And better in the long run.

How many girls today learn to curtsy, I wonder! Times they do change.
When was the last time you (or anyone you know) had to curtsy? No knights chasing dragons with catapults anymore, either. :D

I am amazed at the lack of good handshakes in the world today. Still a skill worth having.

I am still on plan. That is 51/52 for the year. I think I might want to restate this as 51 out of 328 days, which would be 90% of the year. I might not. If it becomes impossible to complete that, I would know earlier rather than later, which would be discouraging. I dunno.

Work work work.

Becca, at one time, before I was dx'd diabetic, I was taking an early morning step aerobics class. I was often dopey during the class and I chalked it up to early morning. Found out later it was from lack of breakfast. I think your idea to have at least a light breakfast before will serve you well.

I'll bet it's good to get back to normal, Amy. I find that courage needs regular, PP-friendly meals!

I am off to a good start. Have already been to the gym and did about 40 minutes of straight cardio. Enjoying a starbucks before Wednesday...ah it will be a long 40 days and 40 nights! :)That's a terrific start, Billie! Think about how much money you'll save in those 40 days. Maybe you should put it in a jar and count it at the end?

That quote was really put in there for me after the last weekend - no internet, no connection with the world, tons of really superb bread brought into the house. That's scary, Puddin! The antipastos were a brilliant plan. Neaning is a defense in a situation like that, but sometimes we simply get overwhelmed. In the beginning, it's very hard to forego traditional food.

Max, 51/52 looks so good, it might make you think twice before going off-plan. Do you think?

Is that for the curtsy or the knight chasing a dragon with a catapult? :D

As we begin this last week, I would just like to express my gratitude for your being here. I have had very little time, I post some other places as well, and I don't feel like I have made much of a contribution. BUT the challenge has helped me focus, it has been one more place to be accountable, and it has made a difference. I had gained back a significant portion of the weight I lost some months back, and now I am headed back in the right direction. I have not been as responsible as I had planned-- that is, I have not read all the posts I intended to read because of lack of time, but I have lost some weight (will do an official weigh-in this weekend), and I know I am going in the right direction.

I thank you for your sharing, your insights, your knowledge, and your caring....

Being the romantic I am, I hope there are still knights chasing dragons--perhaps not with catapults, but dragons still need to be slain. Although I agree with you about the lack of good handshakes, I still think a gentlemanly bow or a feminine curtsy is a nice touch to some social situations. But now that I live in the "colonies" with no royalty around, I suppose the bow and curtsy have to go.

I'm ending the day in fine form -- worked outside in shorts and sleeveless blouse, so I had lots of vitamin D from sunshine. Food is on target -- 86 Protein and 74 ECC. It feels a bit strange eating that many carbs, but I do need to see what my upper limit is. Have a lovely evening, folks.

Evening all... been hungry all day it seems. And I caved to the "too tired too hungry" and ended up carbing out at dinner. Even after eating way too much cheese this afternoon in an attempt to NOT eat junk. :( Wasn't even a big meal, but now I have a tummy ache. My own fault. On the plus side, I did exercise this morning.

Thanks for the input on the timing of breakfast. I suspect that will be a tweak as I go thing, and will vary with what else is on the agenda for the day.

So I'm 0/35 for eating and 1/15 for exercise.

I'll do my Scarlett thing at this point....... "After all, tomorrow is another day"

Another day, another day closer to 90+% for the year. 52/53 or 98.11% so far, or 52/364 or 14.29% of the year. February is 22/23. Next scheduled off day is March 24th, in Paris. And, as we know, carbs that are 3000 Miles + from home don't count (there is science behind this... really).
Protein: 150
Carbs: 12, liable to rise a tad
Cals: 1700's
water: good.
Next month, either exercise comes back or supplements. I'm leaning towards supps.

My goodness, it's corny around here today! :D Billie, I must have missed where you said you were saving for a vacation. Great minds think alike! BC, when I was little, I used to try to curtsey, but it was never a sure thing. I would have fallen on my chubby little butt.

Jazzy, I'm glad you are getting some benefit from our community. Congratulations on your weight loss! I think it's more fun putting another notch in a belt than peering anxiously at a scale.

Becca, the exercise was your saving grace!

I got my exercise in today and felt terrific afterwards. Now, I'm starting to tighten up so I've got to stretch well before bed. Bed will be early tonight because I've been running on about four hours of sleep. :p
