Eighty percent of success is showing up.
Woody Allen

Here we are with fewer than we began the year, but these are the faithful, the successful! How does it feel to be a success?

Breakfast will be a shake, probably raspberry/blueberry, since I’m out of strawbs. Lunch will be cauli-bake. Dinner will be something creative from the freezer.

I got phase one of the budget done yesterday by blocking off a few hours. I try to please everybody, and I’ve got lots of customers, but there comes a time when you just have to close the door and concentrate. So I’m looking forward to the day instead of dreading it.

Back to the gym tonight!

How is your day looking?

Morning Carol!

Well I've had some ups and downs, but I'm still here, so I guess that's some progress. Also down yet another pound this morning. :D I may end up with a net loss for the month after all, if this keeps up.

On tap for today is picking up the girls mid-period grade reports. I like doing that actually as it gives me a chance to chat face to face with the teachers for a minute or two.

Breakfast will be a shake

Cheese and a wrap for work (which I need to get on as soon as I post this as I make DH a sandwich too)

Tuna and almonds in the afternoon

Dinner is to be bunless cheeseburger, baby carrots and a salad

My shoulder isn't too happy with me this morning, I think I'll have to add some Advil to my breakfast. ;)

Well, if showing up is success, then I'm very successful! ;)

Lent crept up on me this year which is why I was absent yesterday (Ash Wednesday). During Lent I don't get on the Internet every day, so will be here on weekends and maybe once during the week. But I will participate as I can.

Meals are planned -- breakfast was muesli & LC milk. Lunch will be venison stroganoff over a small serving of dreamfields pasta (just to test how blood sugars react) plus a large salad. Supper will be lavish crackers, apple, cheese and wine. I'll get in some nuts and dark chocolate in between all that feasting to bring ECCs up to 75.

Have a great day, everyone. :D

Morning all! It feels GREAT to be a success!! And most days I DO feel like a success...

However...this morning I sat on the edge of the bed to put on pantyhose and I...ugh...I looked at myself in the mirror....

I realize I'm down 120lbs...I realize that I was extremely overweight for many years. I realize skin was stretched...
but to see my THIGHS so spread out when I was sitting naked...U.G.H.! Makes me want to start saving NOW for the thigh-skin reduction surgery! :jawDrop::redface:

Anyway...at least my thighs aren't FULL anymore...THAT is successful!!!

So, today is the closing (see Wed challenge for what I'm talking about). I can't wait. I plan on leaving work a bit early and going to the gym...
YES, I DID say I planned on going to the gym! Shocker, I know. They are remodeling the lockerrooms, so I have to carry all my stuff...hate that...but I'm prepared.

I went to the physical therapist last night for my hip. I mentioned my shoulder, which still hurts. He agreed with my assessment of pulling the c-ligament just under my collarbone. And he said I really messed with the muscles around it. So most of the pain I'm feeling is the muscles, but when he touched the ligament, it felt on FIRE! So he said be prepared for it to hurt for 6-8weeks!! UGH.
It really is improving quickly, so I can't imagine it will take that long.

Conference call at nine!

8am cauli-turkey casserole, diet v8splash
11am caesar salad with egg and almonds
2pm 5oz roast beef, iced latte
5:30pm beef quesadilla

Pro: 135.4
Ecc: 21
Fat: 130
Cal: 1871

will need to eat more if I workout...we'll see how it goes.

How is your day looking?
Either millstone or torture rack.

On the upside, next week is even busier. But I'm only in the office for three days. Of course, one of those days is meeting with the Internal Control Inquisition from DC, so that'll be fun. Then, Doctor's appointment, Union Travel, Rick Steves Meet & Greet, Fleetwood Mac, Drive down to St. Louis and stay with the in-laws (who I love but who eat carbage), go to college basketball with the MIL, and all of that before Saturday.

On the extreme upside, I am 26 days from taking 14 days away from this.

On the maximum upside, I only have to hang on until June 26th or so. Then I have "Status," from three year tenure. More leave and more opportunity to go elsewhere. Vesting in the retirement, and many other goodies. Oh, and I can leave and always come back for "insider" job listings. Yee-haw. I think I will start a countdown for that when I get back from France.

Lent crept up on me this year which is why I was absent yesterday (Ash Wednesday). During Lent I don't get on the Internet every day, so will be here on weekends and maybe once during the week. But I will participate as I can. Showing up is very important, BC. I'm sure you know what the benefits are. The busier I am, the more I need to be here. It's the difference between "mindful" and "MINDLESS" for me. :D

I signed up with a local gym yesterday. My entire family did. THe place is brand new and is like 5 min from where we live. convenience factor right there. I will do a post in the work out section to hopefully get some advice on how to get started.

How nice that one opened up near you! Being off work is a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday. Hope you have a happy day!

I'm catching up with odd things in the office today, just what I hoped would happen. I drove through a huge fog bank this morning! It's starting to feel a little Springy. :paranoid: :D Cold again this weekend, but I'm hopeful.

On my second cup of coffee with cream. It's a little harder making sure that my supply is handy, but I'm glad not to be tied to the artificial stuff.

Becca, you are just a go-getter! Another pound?

I'm pretty sure it's just water. :) I put on a few pounds from 2/7 - 2/21, between less than stellar eating (10/15 on plan) and hormonal bloat and the uncertainty of the Dreamfields on some of the days I considered on plan but my body may not have thought so.

I was worried last week that I was going to end the month with a 3 pound GAIN, so I'll be happy to have any sort of net loss. Weighing every day is really making a difference (right now at least), with the once a week stuff I can only say I gained 3 pounds this week, can't exactly pinpoint why (or even come close)

I'm back to my low since the 1st of the year, so will see how the rest of the week goes.

Okay...all the papers are signed...and (supposedly) the transfer of funds is happening right now...

Man I hope so...I'm exhausted.

GF is at Blockbuster getting some movies right now.
I think we're getting "W" and "Secret Life of Bees"...
I look forward to a glass of wine and a movie. NO brain needed for either.

I had a laugh today. At the gym, for a minute I actually thought it was Monday! It must be because I worked so hard yesterday in the office that today seemed like the start of a new week. Plus, I was doing upper body work, which I also do on Mondays. :o Or....I'm going crazy. That could be it!

Had a burger for dinner and may have some ricotta and berries later.

Thought I'd drop in briefly to see how folks are doing. And you are doing great -- congrats, Amy on both the closing and the weight loss. :) Pudin - hope the eye heals quickly -- that must be scary.

It was really hot this afternoon, and when I got on the internet to check tomorrow's weather, I found out it really is hot. We broke all records for February today-- 96 F. But tomorrow night is supposed to be below freezing . Go figure!

Ended up pushing the maintenaince envelope a bit today, so will have to see what the scale says about that in the next couple of days. I had half a carton of cream that had been open for a while, so made eggnog this evening--really yummy. It's low carb, but jam packed with fat and calories. Ended up way over on both, but came in under 75ECC. I just hope the scale will be friendly.

Have a good evening everyone -- "talk" to you on the weekend.

Having a bit of a problem keeping everything in order on the board. Not really able to sit right now. DH is heading for Florence to the kids and I'm in charge of the livestock (all 15 of them which includes rabbits dogs cats canaries and co).

Protein yesterday 100
ECC 25
Water tons
Supplements oh yes!!
Exercise - lots of walking and bending

Eye situation is the same as before. Monday will call the Doc and make appointment. The flashes are fairly constant but in the lower part of my right eye. Have that little blackish greyish cloud which makes visual on the right side a bit hazy. All in the norm. Will keep you all informed.

That's only about 18g of protein, and very little fat.

L- chicken prepared with some bell peppers (very little), 5 asparagus, 4 baby carrots with little peanut butter. 1 very little baby celery
(I don't know what to do with nuts, and how to count them... as carbs too?) Again coffee with stevia and heavy whipping cream

No amount on the chicken, but if it's just four ounces, as you mention in your intro post, it's only about 20-24g protein and that's very little fat.

D- 2 eggs with 1 oz chicken 1.2 cup of onions in coconut oil and about 1 oz of sheep feta cheese.
Sn- goat cheese and probably peanuts? or 4 baby carrots with little peanut butter. Maybe decaf..

Again, no more than 25g protein, not much fat.

Monasasha, you mentioned in your intro post that you're hungry. Unless you're VERY small, you don't seem to be eating *enough*. You barely hit 60g of protein and likely no more than 20g fat--and while you do have to count carbs, you can have up to 40g ECC (you're not even close in that menu.)

If you're hungry, add more fat and more protein.

Welcome in!

Puddin, do you have any idea what is going on with your eye?
It sounds like you might have a torn retina??? It sounds serious. JMHO, but waiting until Monday? FWIW, I would call doctor and ask questions. Or is it just me being overly concerned?:o

First me:
I made it through the day. Have talked to the DC people more this week than pretty much anytime in my time in Chicago. They are maddening. I prefer to be maddening than mad. So I guess I get them, but still.

Food was on, that's 55/56.
Protein: ~140
Carbs: ~20
Cals: ~1400
Water: Good

Now, others:
Hello ladies... I will like to join in.if I may...I have only 3 days, I knew about this post because of Belfrybat .Thank you!

M.
We're not all ladies. But you're welcome to join anyway. Welcome to the party.

Breakfast is protein light. Let's rewrite it for better protein:
2 eggs (14g) + 3 strips of bacon (6g) + 1 ounce of cheese (7g of protein). We are now up to 27. If your protein need is higher, add another egg. You are welcome to add heavy cream to your eggs. The bread is not a big deal in moderation. I don't think it works long term, but here and there, fine. The honey is also okay, in very small moderation. At 1 level clinical tsp, fine. At 1.5 kitchen tsps, that's really more like 3 level clinical tsps, and is going overboard. Add in the cream from the eggs and the coffee, and the bread, and we're talking more than 10g of carbs. More from the honey alone.

Reboot the lunch:
6-8 ounces of chicken. Eat thighs, they taste better. Or don't. Pass the carrots, eat more celery with the PB. Eat PB with moderation. It is not free, carb wise. And it adds up, food wise, very quickly. Keep the green peppers (if you are someone who likes them... I cannot abide their presence near anything). Keep the asparagus. It's good stuff, great carb bargain. Nearly free.
On nuts: you could the grams of carbs in whatever nuts you eat. You count the protein too. Almonds are the best bargain, by my analysis. Nice whole almonds go about 6-7g protein per ounce with 5g carbs - 2-3 g fiber. Good punch. Eating more than one ounce of any nut can drive calories up pretty fast. Other nuts are carbier, but can be accomodated by the 1 ounce handfull.

Reboot dinner:
2 eggs plus very small chicken is not protein power. 2 eggs in a frittata with 4 ounces of chicken and some zuccini with some cheddar or parmesan grated over the top, now you're talking. Of course, you could follow my motto: When in doubt, eat steak. You never miss your protein number with 8 ounces of beef. Not sure on onion count, but they can add up as well. I think on Atkins you could have a cup a day on Induction, so must be <10 to the cup.

Reboot snack: move the nuts to here. Beware the peanut butter. If you're gonna have it, have it on celery. Carrots can add up, carb wise.

You are welcome. Welcome in. Questions are welcome.

Sharon already had an emergency visit and he said to wait until Monday to see if the flashes continue. Eye is healthy but obviously if the problems persist I have to have some exams done. Relax guys...it's all ok. Thanks for being concerned though.
