Most great people have attained their greatest success just one step beyond their greatest failure.
Napoleon Hill
Just when you think you can't hang on any longer, you GET it. It can be like a warm Spring after a long, cold Winter.

Breakfast is a shake. Lunch will be cauli-bake, if I remember to bring it. Dinner will be something with beef.

Have a great day, everyone!

Morning Carol and all to follow :)

Been up a while, but wanted to get my exercising in before I posted ;)

Breakfast will be a shake, lunch is leftover meatloaf, dinner is Italian chicken. No forseeable derailers today.

My plan to day is to get a bunch of things accomplished! So I'm going to post my food and then get busy!

6am lc scone
7:30am 3eggs, 4turkey bacon, 1lc toast, Diet v8juice
11am caesar salad with chix
2pm 3oz turkey, iced latte
5:30pm bacon/cheese burger, 1 slice bread, cup of soup

Pro: 133.4
Ecc: 37.7
Fat: 134.5

Calories are a bit high today, so I either need to cut something down or do some exercises.

I'll figure it out later. Might skip the latte....darn it.

Same plan as always:
Shake
Breakfast for lunch
Improvise for dinner.

At work, working on work, or not working on work, however you want to look at it.
I have a couple things to do that are kind of soul crushing. Should I:
1- procrastinate until after lunch and build up the soul crushing nature of it
or
2- Get off of her and get to having my soul crushed, so that it will be over faster.

2 sounds like a better idea.

Rock and Roll.

I will post my food at the end of the. I am keeping it written down on a sheet of paper. I am confused about the carbs.. I have the book and am reading it again.. But in each meal it says to not go over 10 carbs per meal.. I understand that part.. But, Do we have to eat the ten carbs? Or can we eat, or are we suppose to get 10? I know it should be in helthy carbs, veggies and fruit and such but what i am trying to say is it vital for us to eat carbs or can you skip them.. I guess we do need them.. and ten carbs in the way of veggies is good for you right? I guess i may have answered my own ? But please someone explain it if you want to.. Like i said i am re-reading the book again. sharthejoysheila

Here is a great Samuel Beckett quote.. I love this
"Ever tried, ever failed, no matter.
Try again.
Fail again.
Fail better."
Samuel Beckett (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Beckett)
This may have been put on here before , but i just found this thismorning. So please excuse me if it was already posted..
I took my measurements this morning, I know i should have already done it. I just could not ask sweety to do it until today as he has been sick.. As ashamed as i am of these i am going to put them in my signature.. I will put them here first then go and put them in.. It will help me stay accountible.. For sure.. Sheila

:o:D:p:cool:

I actually prefer it like he wrote it. Has lots of wonderful implications. Definitely makes our Max one interesting personage!;)

Today 's quote is a bit tough to relate to Carol. At least for me. When I have failed miserably I usually wasn't able get a great success immediately afterwards. Took me some time to get back in the saddle. Sort of like trying to mount a horse who has the very bad equine habit of turning round and round while you are trying to put your foot into the stirrup. Always drove me nuts. The fact that I fail makes me go nuts and it is really tough for me to get back on track. But lately I have been living tranquilly, multitasking less, making my chores simpler by dividing up the activities and so I seem to be able to live more positively...maybe that will help me out if I fail in something in the future.:)

Meals today were PP perfect, if I don't count the fact that the beaglcuda had to share my meatloaf with me because I ate half of it at breakfast outside in the sun...

BFast meatloaf and a itty bitty apple
Lunch meatloaf and artichokes, almonds
Dinner - don't know because we're going out. Am sure there will be meat of fish plus appetizers with salami etc.
Snack evening - hot herbal tea, always a must for me after dinner with friends...winds me down and relaxes me

... but what i am trying to say is it vital for us to eat carbs or can you skip them..Gotcha, Sheila.

Eat between 30 and 40 carbs a day. Less if you want, but Dr. Mike says there's no great advantage to going lower.

Ten per meal is a rule of thumb that gets us to spread them out over the whole day. You don't want to save up and have 40 carbs for dinner.

Does that help? :)

"Fail better" is an interesting concept that brings to mind my grandson trying to get from one level to another on the Spiro video game. :D He is dogged as he moves toward his goal. I think it's a very valid idea that goes right along with "never give up" and all those others. Good one, Sheila.

Puddin, "beaglcuda"!?!?

Max, I hope your soul isn't too crushed to enjoy dinner.

Hello -- I'm back! Hopefully I'll stick around longer this time! ;)

Breakfast: Glass of Calorie Countdown milk, small banana
Lunch: Egg salad (hard-boiled eggs, mayo, Mt. Olive sugar-free pickle relish, curry powder)
Dinner: not sure yet...having dinner out with Mom, so I'll pick something diet-friendly with meat and veggies.
Snacks: SF pudding cup, more egg salad

Water: got that covered. I drink at least 64 oz per day at work
Exercise: Am going to walk at lunchtime, or visit the treadmill this evening if that doesn't happen.

Not really measuring or counting anything today...just winging it!

Jill :)

Sheila, I usually tried to have 7 or so carbs a meal so I could "save" 3 for a little snack later on. That was when I was eating only 30 carbs a day. Now I do 40 a day and I don't need to save any for snacks as I still try to stay under 10 a meal and use the additional 10 for snack time. So you don't have to have 10 carbs per meal, just don't go over 10 so that your insulin won't be affected.

Your Beckett quote was great too, Sheila. We never have a complete failure , if we are able to learn from it . We've all had lots of practice at failing and learning again here at this site. Luckily there is always some one to help us out with it.

So far no snow here today, I think it might miss us. I can only hope.

Karole, who isn't a winter person and is looking forward to SPRING.

Yah, it's been a while! But I need to get serious about taking care of myself. I know I say that all the time, but this time it's got to stick!

Hubby has finally admitted he has a health issue that he is now taking care of, and he reminds me fairly regularly that I need to be doing more to take care of my diabetes. And honestly...if I just followed the plan, I would be in SUCH good shape in that respect!

I keep living in denial about my health problems and what the long-term consequences will be. And I don't want those consequences...I want to live a long, happy, healthy life. So far I feel good and don't have any major issues, but that will not be the case for much longer if I don't get with it! :P

(Plus...I'm getting vain in my old age. I'd like to lose more weight, be more fit, and look better in my clothes! ;) )

Jill :)

I would be preaching to the choir if I said anything else, Jill. You got it smack dab right and I'm going to enjoy having you to chat with every day. ;) I'm glad DH is addressing his health, too. Sometimes it takes one to start it off.

One thing about diabetes, if you keep it on a short leash you'll not have the problems if and when you ever DO get older.:p

No. You don't need the carbs for anything. While Dr. Mike has posted that they don't see much value in going lower, neither Dr. Eades has ever suggested that you MUST eat your allotment.

I frequently do not. Probably more frequently than I do.

Um...did you mean "get off of herE"???

Take it however you like.
