When it comes to eating right and exercising, there is no "I'll start tomorrow." Tomorrow is disease. ~V.L. Allineare
Whoo! Strong words! I think the first step is the hardest. It always is with me. Once I make up my mind to stop the sugar, the rest falls into place. I know, I’ve done it several times. I sure hope I don’t have to do it again.
Today, I’m going to an organic farmer’s market to play music in a hospital lobby. Sounds weird, but, there it is! I’m kind of wondering what kind of produce they’re going to sell at this time of year.
What are your plans for the weekend? :)

Today, I’m going to an organic farmer’s market to play music in a hospital lobby. Sounds weird, but, there it is! I’m kind of wondering what kind of produce they’re going to sell at this time of year.
Carol, we've got a year-round farmer's market...ours is mainly root veggies, cold storage apples, various organic greens and herbs from the guy who's got a winter greenhouse (I think he does some hydroponics, too, so sometimes he's got grape tomatoes, too...) and there is always at least one commercial seller who trucks in out of (local) season stuff like oranges, grapefruit, etc. from Florida. The dairy and eggs people have stuff year-round, the meat guy always has chicken, and there are a couple of Mennonite farmers who will always have baked goods, dried spices, and jams.
Some of the local growers start bringing in flats of started seeds (for those of us too lazy or space-challenged to start our own...) And they're already bringing pots of forced spring bulbs. And the people who craft are always there--some of the farmers switch to crafts and offer them all winter.
It's kind of cool to watch the seasons change through the farmer's market lens...happy playing!
Good morning! Or is it??
It's 5am and I cannot sleep. The coffee just finished brewing and I have my scones ready to eat...I hate when I can't sleep.
I have a meeting today that will take upjust under half my day. Ugh...
I suppose it's a good thing though because I usually suffer a bit after a honey tree meal. Keep me busy and I think I can make it through the day!
5am 2lc scones
7:30am 2eggs, 1oz cheese, 4turkey bacon
11am 2dbl stack from wendy's (1 side of 1 of the buns)
3pm 3oz roasted turkey
6pm ground turkey, spaghetti sauce, dreamfields, parm

Morning all.
I've been up for a while, had to get DD1 to her SAT testing... had to drive in the rain in the dark, not a good combo for me. :(
She didn't finish her protein drink so I finished that off for her. Hope the bit of milk doesn't trigger anything today. I'm counting that I drank half, but that's probably more than I really had. Better to over count the carbs ;)
My real breakfast was hard boiled eggs and bacon.
No clue what lunch will be
Dinner is Cuban chicken and peas, it's cooked in rice (one of those one dish meals) but I can pick the chicken our easily.
Very dreary here, gonna be hard for me to find the umph to do much of anything today and there's a LOT that needs doing (laundry, cleaning, groceries and such).
Be back later!

Hi all, just checkin in.
Wow, Carol when I read that quote today I thought whew, he made a strong and to the point statement. No mincing words huh. Then I read your thoughts about it and had to laugh as they were so similar to mine.
Finished with exercise already except for any incidental stuff that might come my way. At least my deliberate exercise is done and maybe I can get back on Shadows good side--if there is one.(Just kidding , Shadow) I'm afraid I slacked off yesterday and didn't do any at all, so I needed to do something quick !!

Quick hello from the other side of the Ocean. Read that quote Carol - OUCH!! Hard words for the weekend, specially when I am sitting on my behind since yesterday because the Chiroprac said that I do need to rest every so often. Tomorrow is schlepp day even if it's Sunday. Can't handle all this sit.
Read the thread about calories and must admit that I have to get back to the every day food diary! It is really important because even if I think that I am eating enough I'm really not getting down enough calories to burn anything up. Had a look at today's meals and was shocked:
Breakfast - raw burger 3oz (too little)
Lunch - turkey carcass, roast boar 4 oz (still not enough)
and so far nothing else. Have literally lost my appetite and it is distressing. After confessing here I am going to have a trot to the market and buy some extras - cream, butter and USE THEM.
HAve a good rest of Saturday guys.

Up and about, been busy.
Drug store for scripts.
Target for cat litter and such.
Supermarket for various items for dinner guest tonight (we're having a vegetarian over... I am 85% carnivore... a solution has been formed) and tomorrow night (fellow carnivores... more on this later).
Pauline Meat Market for tomorrow's dinner star (more later) and scouting mission (they pass... I have a butcher!)
Home Despot for keys for our neighbors.
Lunch (I had steak, with maitre d'hotel butter, no eat on the fries with it)
then to an Open House at the wife's art & craft school, where I saw a pot she made and many other clay works from other students.
At last to home.
Been busy.
Tonight, we are having the Dreamfields Mac and Cheese thing, Dutch Master edition.
The usual recipe (3 eggs, 1 brick cream cheese, 1 stick butter, 1/2c cream, 1 lb of sharp cheddar, assorted seasonings depending on my whim) with two additions to the wildcard cheese spots... 8 oz of Rembrandt cheese, an aged gouda, and 8 oz of Mondrian, another Dutch cheese, this one nutty and mild, maybe a little like a soft swiss or something. Rembrandt and Mondrian, Dutch masters. Probably 2 of my top 10-20 painters ever (incongruous? yes, but I'm ecclectic like that). Any rate, I think we are doing some asparagus or something for our vegetarian guest (who doesn't eat salad, now that's a vegetarian I can get along with) and wife has some brownies she made that I will probably skip (pretty good though... brownie mix, with butter roasted pecans on the top, and sea salt... damn, I might've just boned skipping them tonight).
The butcher store was fantastic. Expensive, but fantastic. I am going to continue to buy the bulk of my meats at Costco (don't tell my butcher) but for special things (like tomorrow's guests, or something you can't get at Costco) I will return. Tomorrow's guests are being treated to my first Prime Rib. I might've mentioned, they are doing us a solid (watching the cats for the Paris trip, accepting no money) so I am doing them a solid (Prime FREAKING Rib). They eat salad, so a salad will be served. Crusty bread (skipping) and brownies (might have a quarter or a half at that time) Oh, and maybe left over Dutch Master.
Any rate, I am geeked to have people coming over.
In more interesting, diet related news, scale hit 218 today, which is a fourth straight day of .5 lbs drop, and third straight day of new territory. The whoosh genie is being pretty kind to yours truly.
Rock and Roll.

Hi everyone, Whew Saturday is here. Sometimes I wish they weren't as busy as the weekdays!!

Hi! I came here to read and was pulled away before I could say anything. Been a busy day. The gig was fantastic. I broke a string a half hour before it was over and realized I had neither strings nor winder at hand. I left my bag home because I didn't need the music in it. My next shopping trip will remedy that problem. I have six guitars, and they shall each be given their very own winder in the case. :p
Gaelen, the farmer's market was a few herbs and a great deal of grain products and homemade soaps, etc. There was also a meat vendor and I think he had a freezer. I didn't get a chance to check out what he was selling. There were quite a few shoppers.
LBJ, I'm glad you checked in! Sounds like you're doing well. It would be interesting to see if your numbers have improved.
Amy, I hope your day got better!
Becca, good job counting the carbs!
Karole, great minds think alike. :D Don't be talking about slacking off in exercise, girl. Shadow reads this thread, even if she doesn't say much!
Hi, Puddin. Good thought about the food diary. That's always my last resort, too.
Sheila, too bad you had to miss your gig!
Max, I hope your prime rib dinner goes well. Congrats on the whoosh!
Jackie, enjoy your dinner theater. Chili-lime almonds? I haven't seen those around here. Sounds interesting, though.
What a busy day for a Saturday! I'll see you later!

:: yawn:: up way too late tonight
Totals for today are approximate as we did Applebees for dinner. I ate okay, but getting figures are such a pain. Also somehow didn't get enough water today. :( Maybe the rain just made me not thirsty? or I didn't write them all down. Will work on that more tomorrow

Hmmm. Thought I was here yesterday, but apparently not. How the days do fly. Loved the quote, Carol. I am such a procrastinator! Pulled all the stuff out of the closets in the chapel a week ago and still haven't gotten it sorted out, decluttered and put back. So, after church will tackle that today -- no putting it off until tomorrow.
Looks like folks are having a great weekend -- keep up the good work.
Food has been on-plan and I'm reading GCBC -- albeit very slowly. I keep dozing off! It is a dry read, but even so, I'm surprised it actually puts me to sleep. I am determined to get through it, and then I have Kendrick's "The Great Cholesterol Con" -- which is written in such a witty "off the wall" fashion that I know I'll enjoy it.

With a planned day off yesterday we went discovering yesterday! We decided on Oak Park and went walking, on what was a beautiful day, and enjoying some Italian food. Although we were miserably off program yesterday, we decided it and enjoyed it.
Today it is back to the norm, and honestly the honey tree trip did me good, I felt a little miserable last night and I thought hmmmmm I know why! The reminder is incentive for me.
Today's plan, bacon and eggs, LC Bread
Dinner will be a pork loin that was rolled and stuffed with cashews, fresh asparagus.
Probably will just have two meals today, that seems to be something we settle into on Sundays.

Hi all, we went out for rib-eye last night and it was very, very good. My dh suggested it so that made it even better.( I think he felt guilty for playing so much golf lately and wanted to do something nice for me. ) He is sweet that way.
It is in the 50's here but over cast and windy so brrrrr !! Tomorrow we've been invited on an all day trailride so will have to decide what I have to take for a lunch out on the trail. Has to be something that doesn't need to much cooling. I usually take some almonds for a snack too. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the ride-- it's been a long time since the last one in Nov. Now we'll see if all that stretching and etc that Shadow has had me doing this winter pays off --and maybe I won't be sore.
didn't do so well last evening. Was right on target all day, then made some sf pudding. Not a big deal, but for some reason I ate some, took a break, then went back for more, ate some, took a break, then went back for more. By the time I went to bed, I was at 65ecc for the day! Ugh!
And right after a honey tree day...HATE that.
Meals are planned for today. It's absolutely beautiful here...going to be 54! the sun will be great, but we still have a lot of snow that will be melting all day, so we're prepared for a flooded yard and garage! YUCK!
8am 2lc scones (think I'll take a break from these for the week)
10am 2.5oz turkey, 1oz cheese, 2eggs, 3 chix drummettes (emptied the fridge of leftovers  )
2pm 1 lc bread, 3oz ground turkey, mustard, 1oz cheese, 1/2c green beans
6pm lc pizza
Pro: 135.6
Ecc: 28.4
Fat: 122.7
Cal: 1810
I may add another 2.5oz roasted turkey if I get hungry in the day.
Good Sunday everyone! I'm off to cook lunches for the upcoming week.

Hi! It's genuinely beautiful here today; over 50F and no wind to speak of. I've got the windows open. The boys are outdoors and I'm inside paying bills. ;) Or, that's what I'm supposed to be doing. :D
I just had a hamburger and green beans for lunch. I think DS is going to grill steaks tonight. He's been interested in cooking lately. I'm gonna let him!
Becca, are you drinking lots of water today?
BC, I sure understand about the chapel closets. I asked DH to pull everything off a shelf that I want to repurpose so I will have to do it today. It's right here in the living area!
Billie and Amy, I'm glad you guys are back on plan today. You might have to white-knuckle it for a while, but sounds like everything's under control.
Karole, have fun on your trail ride. Our horses were always very frisky this time of year, so hang on tight! :)
We have the grandblessing for an overnight. Unexpected by me, but it's some sort of a schedule adjustment for when Dad was sick. This changes our plans. The Geezer and I bought two put-together bookcases yesterday and were planning to construct at least one of them this afternoon! I can wait another week, though. I've lost at least four noses and been nibbled to death already, which is why I don't have the bills paid yet. Thank goodness they went to the park!

Howdy all.
I've popped in a few times, just haven't posted. The pain that was in my shoulder/neck before has now settled into my upper back (right lats to be precise) and I also dealing with numbness/pain shooting down my right arm. DH tried a massage, found a lovely knot in there, but couldn't really do much with it.
Carol I'm on my 4th - 16 ounce glass for today so I should be okay ;)
The scale finally decided on a new number today (instead of the 2 it has liked so well the past two weeks). Thankfully it went in the downward direction. Will see what happens now.
Breakfast was hard boiled eggs (with butter, salt pepper), bacon, gingerbread flavored tea (with cream and splenda)
Lunch was a wrap (mayo, lettuce, shredded cheese, roast beef, turkey, pepper)
Mid afternoon will be tuna (mayo and pepper) and almonds
Dinner will be Italian chicken. Hopefully salad, but not if I'm feeling like this :(
It has stopped raining, but it still dreary and soggy outside. Other than picking up the car (turns out it was the transmission - lovely) I'm not leaving the house today.
Working on bills (supposedly ;) ) and laundry and resting up for the week ahead.

Hi, all,
Carol, great quote, so applicatable to me for sure.
Yesterday was a "honey tree" day for me.
We went to visit friends in East Texas for a St. Patrick's Day celebration and BBQ, lots of great food. I did well as I brought raw veggies and spinach dip, but did sucumb to one person's great potato salad and the hostess banana pudding.
Still trying to exercise daily, some cardio and a toning tape.
The rain here the last few days makes hiking at the state park a bummer for me, but hopefully, it will dry out soon.
Here is my menu for today:
B: eggs, bacon, 1/4 c. raisin bran w/ splash of milk (hard to be pickie at friends house, they try so hard).
L: baked ham, cauliflower, green salad w/ sf dressing, hood lc milk, T baked apples(I added sugar to them for DH).
S: slice low fat cheese, cucumber slices
D: late tonight: homemade chicken salad on lettuce, tea.
Hope you all have a great week.
See you later,
Claudette

Oh, Carol can I identify about needing to "repurpose" parts of the house -- great term there. ;) One of the disadvantages to living alone is the ability to close doors and "forget" what lies beyond them. But I'm running out of doors to close. Since I'm hoping to move in the next few months to a much smaller place, I really need to downsize. When there were three members of the community and with the idea of growing to 5, we purchased or were given items that we would need in the future (like dishes, linens, furniture and such). Now I'm living alone among the possessions of what should have been for 5. And living between two houses just to make life more "interesting". Ah well, this too shall pass.
Amy -- hang in there. Honey tree days for me usually lead me to having two or three in a row. But you are stronger than I am, so I know you'll get control NOW.
Becca -- so sorry to hear you are still hurting. Do be very good to yourself.
Billie, Karole, Claudette and all those who have feasted this weekend--great going on feasting and then jumping back on the PP bandwagon. We all know the side our steak is buttered on, don't we?
Have a great rest of the weekend and "see" you in a few days.

Reporting in. Back/shoulder is still hurting, but somewhat better - for now - sleeping makes it worse.
I didn't get my exercise in as I was just too sore, hope Shadow doesn't whip me too hard ;) I did meet my 2/3 minimum goal though so that's a plus... am 8/9 for my month so far (11/15 will be rewarded).
Food on target, no salad with dinner but everyone was full w/out it. I definitely got enough water today too! I'm at 18/21 for eating (28/35 is my goal) so I'm doing good there too. Looking over things I see that my off days aren't really days, just dinner on those days and I get right back on target. If I only have 1 meal/week that's over on carbs I'll be happy (one of those 3 was planned too - the sweet potatoes this week and I wasn't too far over).

Okay, prime rib is maybe the easiest thing I have ever made. Really. The hardest part is parting with the cash. Digital thermometer is very useful, but otherwise, only equipment needed is a shallow pan to roast it in. The ribs form the roasting rack. Very simple, done in an hour and a half. 7 lb roast. Love it. Wife loved it. Guests loved it. Very simple very wonderful. LOW carb, totally.
Not for every night (expense, remember) but man, that is the stuff!
